Allerseelen - Rauhe Schale
(CD)
(Ahnstern: Ahnstern44)
 |
"Rauhe Schale" ('Rough Shell') is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. Everything moves and flows in a field of force between industrial, metal, folklore and pop. Lovers of bands like Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach or Underworld could also fall in love with Allerseelen. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock. But basically there is no real description for Allerseelen - all attempts to find an expression for their music may be valid for some time, yet lose their meaning after a couple of months or years. The songs were inspired by various magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia. Gerhard is assisted here by Dimo Dimov (Svarrogh, Miel Noir, Sturmpercht), Marcel P. (Sagittarius, Halgadom), Meri Tadic (Eluveitie) and Annabel Lee (Blood Axis). 70 mins. of music in a digipak with booklet.. $14.33

Altar of Flies - Forruttnelsen LP
(Vinyl)
(Release the Bats: RTB57)
 |
First vinyl fullength from Mattias Gustafsson aka Altar Of Flies. Since the start in 2006, this prolific artist from Mjolby, Sweden, has done releases on Cipher, Husk, Hasten & Korset, Nil By Mouth and 905, just to name a few. Forruttnelsen is the first new release on RTB since the split LP with Sewer Election which was released early 2008. More organic and mostly recorded live to tape, Forruttnelsen shows a side of Altar Of Flies more reminiscent to the sounds of his live shows. This is more minimalistic in it's approach, weaving together tapeloops, field recordings, junk abuse and raw disciplined electronics creating an claustrophobic and bleak soundscape. Everything slowly builds up towards the abrasive 14 minute long title track closer, making this an monumental journey in all it's gloomy glory. Recorded between April and December 2009. 5 tracks, 41 minutes. Mastered by Viktor Ottosson (Attestupa). Full colour artwork by Daniel Fagerstrom.. $21.00

Arcana - The First Era 1996-2002 4CD Boxset
(CD)
(Cyclic Law: 27th Cycle)
 |
Very few bands evoke such awe and inspiration than this Swedish act driven by the now legendary talent of Peter Bjärgö. ARCANA have been pillars and always at the forefront of the so called Neo Classical / Heavenly Voices movement with their poignant, ethereal and medieval inspired music since their very first album, Dark Age Of Reason was released in 1996 on Sweden's Cold Meat Industry label on which they subsequently released 3 other albums, Cantar De Procella (1997) ...The Last Embrace (2000) and Inner Pale Sun (2002) making ARCANA one of the most regarded and praised act on the label. Sorrowful strings, Doomsday horns and trumpets, massive percussion and snares, bells, Dulcimer all interlaced with exquisite Male and Female voices create a quite singular atmosphere of grandeur and of melancholy for times long gone... ARCANA's music leaves hardly no one indifferent, it's able to touch and move in ways very few acts have been able to achieve, it's music is timeless and rediscovering these albums years later certainly proves this...now sold out for some years we are pleased to present these classic albums together in a special format. This 4CD box set includes the first 4 albums with bonus tracks taken from various compilations and mini albums covering the early days of this unique act. The first 3 albums have also been carefully ReMastered, "Dark Age Of Reason" by Peter Bjärgö and the "Cantar De Procella" and "...The Last Embrace" albums by Frederic Arbour. 4 CDs housed in separate sleeves, 40 pages Booklet relating Arcana's early days all packaged in a rigid cardboard box. Limited edition of 2000 copies.. $38.66

A Taste for Decay - Beneath Black Waters
(CD)
(Black Goat records: BGR045)
 |
New release from this mysterious Swedish project that feature's guest collaborations from Alan Dubin of GNAW/Khanate ,Billy Anderson of Blessing The Hogs, and John Paul Whetzel of Pro-Death/StemCell Research Project. Nightmarishly black, hallucinogenic sounds of a slowly oozing nature, heavy on the grime, and rife with an assortment of almost ritualistic, ambient noises whose exact origins remain mysteriously shrouded in a bed of reverb and low level, "bassy" sludge. There's a sinister, dungenous quality to these recordings that give it a quasi field recording feel - like it was recording in a cellar whose walls drip with years of decay and ancient slime.. $11.33

Atrabilis Sunrise - Pillgrimage
(CD)
(Raubbau: Raub009)
 |
Atrabilis Sunrise is the ongoing project of sound manipulator / destroyer Padre P.C., who also happens to be the tyranic boss of P.C.M. Few years ago our beloved Padre was producing dark industrial releases under the name "Catharsis". Some would try to categorize Atrabilis Sunrise as bizarre, disturbing & unsettling electronica, from quietness to violent insanity, from ethereal atmospheres to spasms of pure psychotic noise. Paranoid, demented voices, abusive fried circuitry, lonely music box (obviously injured) melodies, twisted pop sensibilities, confusing atmospheres, distorted alien pathology, corroded beauty, brittle fragility & tortured doom... Atrabilis Sunrise is steeped in images of a starkly contrasting world, capturing sounds of madness and glorious insanity. An utterly weird, excruciatingly harrowing musical experience.. $14.99

Attestupa - Begraven Mot Norr LP
(Vinyl)
(Release the Bats: RTB58)
 |
Begraven Mot Norr, the second album from Attestupa, is themed around funeral customs and death processions in the past centuries of rural Sweden. The first LP was described as a mix of folk tones, 70's German prog, noise and black metal, and via the Att Korsa Den Flod Som Kommer Dränka Oss Alla tape (Abisko) and 1867 12" (DNT), that mixture was refined. With Begraven Mot Norr, Attestupa returns with their most accomplished and complex recording so far, a natural progression from Anglamakerskan (their praised contribution to the Utmarken compilation 10"). Opening with an eerie violin over a rushing river, the bleak tone is immediately set. Set to a backbone of monotonous drumming, guitars and organs take the freezing lead in the sinister arrangements. Abrasive electronics intersects with field recordings and a sparse and elegant use of acoustic instruments. The chant-like vocals lure somewhere in the background, working as an instrument on it's own. Often based on scrap metal junk abuse and tape loops, the droning interludes from their recent live sets are incorporated. The overall atmosphere is more melancholic, paving itself through different shades of grey with a calmer and more distinct sound than before.. $21.00

Bleiburg - Indisibiliter Ac Inseparabiliter
(CD)
(The Eastern Front: Front026)
 |
Following 2008’s Open Wound live CD and DVD releases, the martial industrial project of German-Croatian musician Stefan Rukavina launches a fresh offensive on The Eastern Front with this nostalgic tribute to the glory and pathos of a vanished empire.«Indivisibiliter ac Inseparabiliter»—Latin for ‘indivisibly and inseparably’—was the motto of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Formed in 1867 under the aegis of the Austrian Habsburg dynasty and constituting the most important power bloc in central Europe, the empire was consigned to oblivion by the First World War, a war precipitated by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Habsburg throne. The empire’s rise and fall is vividly evoked in 15 new tracks by Bleiburg, with styles ranging from orchestral grandeur through stirring folk melodies to sample-laden EBM. The album booklet is copiously illustrated with beautiful period artwork, and contains a detailed German-language history of the Rukavina family, in particular the illustrious Croatian general Baron Georg Freiherr von Rukavina, commander of the fortress of Temesvár. $13.00

Blood Axis - Born Again
(CD)
(Storm: Strm12)
 |
Over the course of the 12 tracks which comprise their 2nd album, "Born Again", Blood Axis explores an epic yet human universe in which gods are summoned, kingdoms rise, riddles are unlocked, love is lost, and worlds crumble. Whereas early Blood Axis music was marked by keyboards and samples, Blood Axis in 2010 is stripped down to an essential core of natural instrumentation - electric and acoustic strings, melodeon, piano, highland bagpipes and Galician gaita, marching percussion, the mysterious Annabel-a-tron, and Bobby BeauSoleil's growling, prison-vintage guitar eruptions circa 1976. Underpinning the album and propelling much of the music is the traditional Irish bodhrán, recorded here with unprecedented power. Moynihan's ominous voice is well matched by Annabel Lee's elfin intonations, just as her violin finds a perfect counterpoint in Robert Ferbrache's protean guitar parts. Shot through by myth and romance, the expressive lyrics on "Born Again" have their roots in ancient and modern poetry, archaic invocations and tragic laments. Both unclassifiable and unforgettable: neither folk nor rock, traditional nor avant-garde, modern nor archaic, it is simply Blood Axis. To everything there is season. For those who are cursed, a time to die and to be forgotten. And for the blessed, a time to be born again: to live on, beyond death, in the minds of men. Now is the time for Blood Axis to be Born Again. Packaged in a beautiful gatefold outsize cover with foilblock lettering and a 24-page booklet.. $15.33

Body Cargo - Echoes C30 CS
(Cassette)
(Autarkeia: Autape02)
 |
Obscured sounds of unknown, yet seemingly horrific origin - mangled metallic scourge meeting dense, factory churn, with the distant roar of battle playing underneath. I imagine this is what it must sound like to be run over by a tank. The tension is palpable, and the climax overwhelming.. $10.50
|
Body Cargo - Postum C30 CS
(Cassette)
(Autarkeia: Autape03)
 |
Dirty, lo-fi postmortem recordings from this new project from Lithuania that remind me of Proiekt Hat (though, to be be fair, it's been a couple of years since I actually listened to them, so the comparison maybe vague and a bit off) and Alfarmania. Suffice to say, there's no love for humanity here, and it manifests itself in some ultra scuzzy, bulldozing frequencies, distant metallic rumble, and writhing, damage filled atmospheres with no real discernable characteristics other than it just oozes filth and hate....which is certainly more than enough to satisfy.. $10.50
|
Brandkommando - Liquid Times C66 CS

BT.HN & Sistrenatus - Exposing the Ribcage CDr
(CD)
(Existest: EE12)
 |
BT.HN (The Rita & Sick Buildings) and Sistrenatus (formerly Funerary Call) present one long harrowing track of pure depravity. Droning overblown synths, unrelenting spasms of crunchy distortion, and subtle atmosphere form a hopeless barrage of industrial waste.. $9.00
|
Bunker & Gorngoltz - Ashes CDr
(CD)
(UFA Muzak: UFA26)
 |
I think this is a split release, not a collaborative one, but it's all pretty vague and hard to tell. So, I'm going on the assumption that it's the latter. That still doesn't help me in trying to describe this though - weird looping noises, amplifier buzz, heavy electronic oscillations, and low level, muddled, factory din, all playing out in a mostly non-linear fashion. Black glossy envelope with 8 page black & white booklet.Limited to 91 copies.. $10.66
|

Changes - Lament
(CD)
(Hau Ruck!: HR!94)
 |
From Changes' inception, R. N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk have woven bardic tales of gallantry, chivalry and of larger-than-life legendary and mythical heroes. They've sung of new love, love unrequited and love lost. They've written songs painting sonic imagery foretelling a dark apocalyptic future, which later came to pass while currently prophesying a society in the seminal stages of an even darker fate. With their new album, Lament, they turn their gaze inward, to their own personal apocalypses, stemming from their long marriages ending in dismal dissolution. They tell of their dark, oppressive inner-world that sought to drive them beyond the brink of despair. Only by being able to immerse themselves in their art and create works expressing these sorrows would they be able to maintain their sanity. Lament reaches out to all who've had their lives disrupted by modern societal partners going through mid-life crises, becoming antagonistic strangers to their families overnight. The song entitled "The Invisible Man" tells a tale based on H. G. Wells' novel with a personal twist. In their song "Emily", the historical figure of poetess Emily Dickinson comes to life. The "Mountains of Sorrow (Remix)", is an instrumental song enhanced by the deft arrangement, musicians and singers of Der Blutharsch with a voice-over by R. N. Taylor of his heart-rending lyric poetry. Also included, new versions of three of Changes' earlier works; "The Saddest Thing", "Sweet Eve" and "Memorabilia" as these songs merged well with the album's concept. Lament is sixty-four minutes in length with thirteen tracks. Comes in nice Digipak with a sixteen page liner booklet. $15.33

Contrastate - Regiment de Rapaces
(Vinyl)
(Segerhuva: Seger28)
 |
Segerhuva proudly presents "Régiment de Rapaces" - the re-issue of one of our personal favourite recordings from the 90’s – CONTRASTATE’s “Mort Aux Vaches” - a live in studio recording for Dutch national radio from 1995, originally released on Staalplaat in 1996. Formerly a CD – now available again as a 180-gram vinyl in a matte black and white cover with a new title and all new artwork made specifically for this release by their long time collaborator Ben Hughes.Contrastate were one of the few groups which had the ability to truly spellbind - bringing a dramatic state of both euphoria and utmost grief while maintaining full control of the senses. This particular recording was one of their more aggressive ones in terms of vocal delivery and lyrics - much akin to Test Dept. in their heyday. Their usual paradoxical and often humourous texts here took a obvious global turn of perspective with statements delving into mass mentality and the negative aspects of waging war. Musicwise a traditional strange, glowing mixture of ritual ambient atmospheres, cascading guitarwashes and intense, highly-taut, tension-building ambience. With this re-issue we hope Contrastate will find some new listeners and grow a bit outside the traditional boundaries of industrial-tinged gothic culture. Pure brilliance!! Know your history and learn the roots of true industrial music with this %100 essential release!!!. $15.66

Dannagoischd - the ghost of the dark forest - is a project coming directly out of the deep Alpine and Swabian woods. ”Emm dichda Ondrholz” (in the dense brush-wood) features 16 tracks of ALPINE FOREST FOLK, telling tales in ancient Swabian language about creatures living in darkest woods, with all their legends, atmospheres and myths. Der Blutharsch - Live in Leiden
(CD)
(WKN: WKN37)
 |
Live in Leiden by Der Blutharsch is the 3rd album in a series of live recordings - after "Live at The Monastery" and "Live in Copenhagen". Live in Leiden was recorded at "The Night of Confusion" held September 28th 2oo4 at the legendary venue LVC and was the "most controversial" concert in the 40 years history of the club. Nevertheless, the night was a huge success, as this recording bears out. At the same time it is the last live recording of the "old" Blutharsch - a small reminder about what Der Blutharsch was infamous for before they morphed into "era two" and turned into a dark psychedelic kraut monster. This is a great live document of a concert of the the band who invented "martial industrial" as well as "military pop" - a MUST of all die hard fans of this genre as well as for people who want to know why this band once has been considered "dangerous". The CD comes in a foilblocked digipak.. $15.33
|
Derniere Volonte - Immortel
(CD)
(Hau Ruck!: HR!96)
 |
Immortel, Derniere Volonte`s 5th studio album took 4 years in making and marks their 15th anniversary! It is a huge development from the former style which redefined the therm "military pop" to a more homoguene, less neoclassic but much more modern in sounds, more electronic but organic at the same time - and reinvents a style Geoffroy D has been influenced since his early days. The themes on Immortel are effected by books, movies or personal experiences of Geoffroy but reflects in general his personal feelings about beloved people and their spirit which is and always will be present in our souls and memories. Immortel is another milestone in the oevre of one of France`s most interresting band from the underground scene and will for sure attract fans from the early days but a lot of new fans from other musical scenes.. $15.33

Deutsch Nepal - The Silent Container 4CD
(CD)
(Old Europa Café: OECD121)
 |
Re-stock. Finally, the re-edition into digital format of the “Silent” tape trilogy out so many years ago on OEC and long since sold out . A great opporunity to hear the evolution of Deutsch Nepal in a long, accurate and complete work. Re-mastered in high quality CD standards by Peter Andersson (RAISON D’ETRE). This is the complete "Silence" saga with the new triple CD digipak (containing Only Silence Among the Filthy, The Silent Earth, and Behind A Wall of Silence) plus the old "The Silent Siege" single CD digipak, all coming inside a slip-box and including a set of 4 inserts. The re-edition of "The Silent Siege" album comes with a completely new label design similar to the "Silent Container" triple CD set. Across the board, some pretty classic, psychedelic industrial sounds in the true old school DN fashion. FYI, I did not order (on the recommendation of OEC) the edition without Silent Siege, since the price difference was fairly marginal.. $39.49

Drakh - Bethlehem
(CD)
(Essence Music: ESS014)
 |
One third of the cult post-industrial Swedish legends MZ.412, one half of the amazing experimental act Beyond Sensory Experience and Nordvargr’s long running loyal partner on classic endeavors – including the abyssal black ambient duo Nordvargr/Drakh. With such high caliber résumé, we are more than honored to present the first DRAKH solo album! While mostly known for his demonic, truly Swedish guitar interventions on the MZ.412 or N/D pitch black ambiences, Bethlehem finds Jonas Aneheim walking through slow, quasi-harmonic, subtle, yet thick drone fields weaving elaborate and unexpected damaged electronic rhythms and harsh, crackling ambient textures that can become – at the same time – both delicate and haunting, warm and freezing, to finally drown in a sea of reverb, glacial riffing and distortion on his own shadowy interpretation of the city of Bethlehem. Simply perfect.Masterfully conceived and recorded on the road during his many world travels over the past years – from the US State of Indiana to Asia –, the album successfully narrates unknown angles from these places via ominous sonic vistas and pallets that truly honor the charming aura and tradition of the bleakest Swedish sounds.Presented in our custom 6-panel digisleeve packaging with stunning and desolate photography by Seldon Hunt. Not coincidentally mastered by no one else than Jouni Ollila (aka Ulvtharm, from the MZ.412 fame) at oLLiLaboratories Studios.. $13.99

Dreddup - El Conquistadors
(CD)
(Beast of Prey: BOP7.1)
 |
'El Conquistadors' gives you 70 minutes of hardcore, dynamic industrial/rock music similar in fashion to Einstürzende Neubauten, Dive, The Young Gods, or Laibach. It is their third album, and it constitutes the last part of the trilogy preoccupied with the notion of time. 'El Conquistadors' tells a story of the here and now and of the boundaries of the human soul. As much as I like to think otherwise, I'm actually a real sucker for this kind of stuff, and this is pretty solid.. $13.33

Eldar - Amaterasu Shiroi
(CD)
(Caustic Records: CRR026)

They have re-recorded almost all of the instruments and voices that make up the album, and have also been changed and added various features and sounds/samples of songs, including inedit songs. The result is a completely new and different album from the first recordings. A must for fans of Triarii, Toroidh, A Challenge of Honour, Stahlwerk 9.. $14.33

Enrico Cognilio - Sea Cathedrals
(CD)
(Silentes: Silent2010)
 |
Five superb tracks of deep and evocative ambient music, enriched with echoes of ancient ritual suggestions. The immense spaces and the abyssal deepness of the sea, but also the sound of the bowels of the Earth, the colour of the sand of the desert, the energy of the wind, the strenght of all the Elements, the infinite cycle of day and night, of life and death… A long circular journey through interchanging atmospheres that shake and capture, dragging with energy, then leave room for more quiet and soothing introspective “stasis”, and again become dramatic and overwhelming. A great, unmissable album of “classic” ritual ambient music.. $14.33
|
Fire in the Head - Confessions of a Narcissist
(CD)
(Cold Spring: CSR120CD)
 |
Confessions Of A Narcissist" marks the final full-length release by Fire In The Head ending six years of sonic warfare with an assault of manic, self-indulgent industrial electronics. Drawing as much influence from early punk / hardcore as from industrial / power electronics, FI/T/H was conceived as a cathartic outlet to explore and ratify the delusions and social perversions resultant of psychosis and the darker side of man's conflicted dual nature, to fan the flames which engulf the borders between obsession, compulsion, lust and need. The tracks on this release were recorded in 2007-2008 and are the last of the "short, sharp, shock" vocal tracks which Michael abandoned in favour of "epic" length industrial / ambient compositions. Features guest appearances from Nick Blinko (Rudimentary Peni) and J. Randall (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), with exclusive artwork from Blinko.. $13.33

Funerary Call - Dark Waters Stirred
(CD)
(Fall of Nature: FON02)
 |
Heralded as one of the progenitors of black ambient music, Funerary Call (aka Harlow MacFarlane of Sistrenatus) returns from dormancy with his darkest release to date. "Dark Waters Stirred" is a ceremonial maelstrom of ominous electronics, doom-laden guitars and dark ambient textures. An audial descent into ritualistic obscurity and misanthropy. Features guest appearances from the likes of Deathlord (Blasphemy, ex-Conqueror), and Troy Southgate (H.E.R.R., Seelenlicht) amongst others. $12.66

Eleven new direct and ultra-powerful tracks in the style of the opening numbers from the previous "Petite Introduction aux Pratiques des Gymnosophes", with bombastic orchestrations, mad hymns, circus stomping rhythms, whimsical melodies, and soaring, baroque vocals. Featuring a guess appearance from Omne Datum Optimum and packaged in a digipak with a sixteen-page booklet. Quite removed from the more serious nature of their early work, but brilliant and highly recommended all the same.. $15.33

Hikikimori - A Story of Monstrosity CDr
(CD)
(Steelwork Maschine: SKM-07)
 |
Hikikimori's first CD was pretty well received 'round here, and the second full length release is another solid offering.Hikikomori this time settles on a nightmarish soundtrack of the cult movie 'Freaks' by Tod Browning with 4 lengthy tracks of claustrophic atmospheres and drifting drones, puncuated (somewhat unecessarily so) by samples from the movie.. $10.00

Hrissharsgrani/Dead Man's Hill - Dead:Meat
(CD)
(Steinklang Distro: SKD26)
 |
-ways split album - a great mix between Martial / Industrial / Ambient / Electronic and more. five new HROSSHARSGRANI anthems featuring vocals by Bart Piette from D.M.H. and Pr. Sergiy from MOLOCH, as well as five new monumental epics from the master of Dark Ambient, Dead Man's Hill - this time a lot more intense and song-oriented than on earlier releases. "Dead:Meat" is the so far most mature and complex album of both artists. composition, interpretation and design feel like a smack in the face and leave no room for compromise! morbidity meets iron avant-garde, romanticism encounters the frozen coldness of metal! when will people finally realize: if you want to feel you MUST listen! 10 songs / 64 min.. $14.33

In Meditarium - The Great Limbo
(CD)
(Wrotycz: WRT010)
 |
In Meditarivm is an Ukrainian apocalyptic ritual & dark ambient project founded in 2000 by Olegh Kolyada, known for (prior to this at least) his projects First Human Ferro, Ostarbeiter and Oda Relicta. Previous albums like the CDrs "Les Fleurs du Mal" and "Uterus" outlined the old school approach of the project, clearly influenced by the likes of Morthound, Ildfrost, ConSono or Archon Satani. As such, this is some solid, good old fashioned dark industrial in the early CMI vein - plenty of ghostly reverb, factory clangs, and cavernous atmospheres with subtle, solemn melodies and loops. The record, accompanied by a talented artwork of Kati Astraeir, comes as a limited to 500 copies 4-panel UV-varnished digipack with a poster.. $13.33

Nicely layered, well layered and dynamic, with good, clean production values.. $13.33

Iron Fist of the Sun - Behavioural Decline
(CD)
(Cold Spring: CSR116CD)
 |
Re-stock. Personal obsessions skewed by drug use, codes of behaviour observed by a misanthropic mind. Bitter and cold. Nihilistic and scornful. Elitist and Pure. Behavioural Decline documents the rise of treachery and the fall of honour. Power electronics that sonically takes inspiration from electro-acoustics and ideology akin to black metal / black noise. A deeply personal recording. $13.00
|
Jarl - Vertigo Border
(CD)
(Autarkeia: ACD048)
 |
Not to be confused with the recently released Vertigo Emission CD, though this can certainly be seen as a logical extension of that release, as Erik remains loyal to his credo to mind fuck the audience with wave after wave of hypnotically monotone pulsations and cold, burrowing frequencies. Lmtd 200 copies.. $14.33
|
Jonathan Canady - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to The Mind
(CD)
(Malsonus: M008)
 |
"...a sickly thick hybrid of organic and synth sounds, “The Mind”’s 30 parts working as either a huge fractured piece or as tiny shocks of twisted black thoughts. Mixing up splatterskull shots of John Carpenter melodic patterns, the shock of dynamics and a living metallic (and menacing) tone, this is distressing enough a ride even without the visuals. It’s all coming from a very unsettling mental space, the electronics grinding, slithering and winding itself around the listener’s head like thoughts that can’t be controlled." - Scott McKeating / Foxy Digitalis. $10.99
|
K100 - The Vault of Apparitions
(CD)
(Neuropa: NRP25)
 |
The solo project of Kim Sølve (Trine + Kim Design Studio, Swarms, M) turns loose his first collection from the vault. After a decade of introspection, intense work and self-imposed musical seclusion he now presents the first 12 tracks of dark glimmering electronic music. This is distant, transporting music built from ghost frequencies and hoarse sound fields. The building blocks are carved from excursions to industrial ruins and condemned places which resonates with otherness and timelessness, as well as from sounds of personal artifacts and intense personal experiences bordering on rituals. High quality dark ambient that I actually found to be a very nice companion to Wolfskin's Stonegates of Silence CD, which I posted the same day.. $14.33

Kallarbarnen - S/T 12inch
(Vinyl)
(Nattmaran: NM01)
 |
This feedback loving duo from Gothenburg did a fierceful opening in 2009with their uncompromising cassette on Gothenburg Blood Cult, a recordingdrenched in feedback and abuse. On this recording Källarbarnen is movingtowards a more minimalistic and atmospheric sound, a bleak and drearyjourney into the realms of suffocating isolation. Recorded directly to tapein June 2009. 5 tracks in 24 minutes.Limited to 275 copies.. $16.33

Karjalan Tazavalla - Uhtua CDr
(CD)
(UFA Muzak: UFA29)
 |
One of a latest batch of releases from the ever mysterious UFA Muzak out of Russia, who always seem to find even more mysterious projects to populate their roster. For this release, KT gives us 5 tracks of some pretty scary stuff - minimalistic and drone based , but very haunting, with reverbed metal distantly clanging over a steady, post-Chernobyl hum. It's not thematically based around that, but it's all I could think of when listening to it. Lmtd 91. $12.44

Klammheim - Heimwarts
(CD)
(Heimatfolk: HF10)
 |
If you’re a Neofolk aficionado familiar with Steinklang’s Pagan Folk collection, or the Austrian club scene, Klammheim should be a name you’ve noticed. And now Klammheim’s debut album is here. Heimwärts is a collection of melancholic, soft-spoken and acoustic folk songs that occasionally reveal Klammheim’s roots in heaver, rockier sounds. All vocals are sung in lead singer Dea’s Styrian (Austrian) dialect, and to augment the band’s line-up of guitars, accordion and percussion are guest musicians such as Thomas Bøjden (Die Weisse Rose) and Benjamin Sperling (Jännerwein). The album is based around the longing for the Heimat, the mythical homeland of German romantics. But you don’t need to be a feather pen-swinging poet to long for the Heimat, it’s enough to think that the snow was whiter, the rain softer, the world more magical, back when you were younger – and to long for the times and places that made you who you are. One song "Wandel zur Ruh" is based on the lyrics of a Styrian Writer, Paula Grogger. The song "Namenlos" (“Nameless”) is based around a cemetery in Vienna which contains the remains of souls who drowned in the river Danube. Klammheim have not run straight off the Neofolk mill that seems to be working overtime these days. They are as indebted to Austropop as Neofolk, as influenced by Wolfgang Ambros as Death in June.. $14.99

Klangstabil - Vertraut CDep
(CD)
(Ant-Zen: Act246)
 |
This collection includes the original version of KLANGSTABIL's most famous track, "Vertraut", which captured the attention of listeners worldwide right from its first release on a compilation in 2002. In addition to that you will find eight other interpretations, demonstrating the versatility of work that can be extracted from the catchy, familiar motif. Some of the artists who have remixed the track have based their interpretation on intelligent dance music: the breakbeat-framed SOMATIC RESPONSES version, a hybrid of breakcore and IDM by U.S. project ACCESS TO ARASAKA, KEEF BAKER's metric electro background, which turns into post-rock with dense guitars, and ARCHITECT's Daniel Myer gives us dancefloor-capable pounder topped with a plausible new melody line to complement the original theme. Torben Wendt (DIORAMA) turns "Vertraut" into beautiful melodic body music, while SYNAPSCAPE keep the original track structure but replace the instrumentation and beats, turning the theme into a heavy electronic floorburner. KSDJ is Maurizio Blanco himself, adding some newly faceted rhythm patterns and melody lines, making his version a contemporary DJ anthem. The remix section is topped off by L'OMBRE from Canada, with lush ambient electronica at its finest.. $11.66

Klinikal Skum - Behavioral Deviances CS
(Cassette)
(Gaping Hole: Gape02)
 |
Another quality release from this Ryan Opperman project, also known for his work in Neuntoter Der Plage and Redrot. Death industrial that moves at a slowly creeping pace (working to it's benefit mind you), and shows a very effective use of analogue sounds, suggestive of mental instability and sickness. Think Atrax Morgue, but ultimately much more interesting and seemingly more thought out and composed.. $6.50

Koufar - The Purity of the Cedars
(CD)
(Topheth Prophet: TP021)
 |
The first CD release of Maronite resistance unit, Koufar. The Purity of the Cedars deals with the Lebanese civil war, with seven assaulting tracks of ferocious electronics (and even more ferocious vocals) fueled by genuine brute anger and intensely focused hatred. For those that like it hard, this is pretty first rate.. $10.66
|
Lamia Vox - ...Introductio
(CD)
(Indiestate: Angriff38)
 |
Intriguing debut from this female fronted project of richly textured, Lovecraftian inspired dark ambience. At it's core, the drones remind me a bit of Bad Sector (ghostly reverberations with a cosmic feel), but these are augmented by subtle ritual touches and something more sinister lurking in the shadows. Because of that, Endura came to mind once or twice as well, though this is generally less structured than what they traditionally did. Limited to 500 copies comes in a full colour 4-panel digipak.. $14.77
|
Les Jumeaux Discordants - Sang Pour Sang
(CD)
(Athanor: Athanor038)
 |
Sang pour Sang is the scond opus from Les Jumeaux Discordants after a sold out and acclaimed EP on Misty Circles. The recording is based on the ancient concepts of Katàbasis and Anàbasis and is divided in two sections: the first is made by obscure and sinister atmospheres; the second is more lyrical. Musically Sang pour Sang is the perfect balance between the best neoclassical ambiances and martial industrial with an Art Nouveau’s touch. Les Jumeaux Discordants is musically and spiritually in the tradition of italians ritualistic and electronic formation like T.A.C. or Kirlian Camera’s Schmerz period.Using heavy percussions, one can expect the right mixtures wich made famous Les Joyaux de la Princesse, Camerata Mediolanense, Les Sentiers Conflictuels, Blood Axis, In Slaughter Natives or Dead Can Dance. The band might be the one we were waiting for since the split of The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud.About the theme, LJD faces up to the Angelo Tonelli's poetry: the founder of the Ritomodernist wave, a cultural italian wave fighting for the Tradition. Beyond the cooperation of this great personality of the contemporary philosophy there's the cooperation of the famous cellist Zeno Gabaglio from Switzerland and Daniela Bedeski from Camerata Mediolanense. Les Jumeaux Discordants is a project born in 2005 by the union of two pre-existent projects: The Last Hour and Aimaproject. The first is a musical project born in 2004; the second is born in 1996 and it works in various expressive fields: litterature, photography, music. Aimaproject works with many musical projects. The CD is presented as a 6 pages digifile with a 12 pages booklet.. $13.99

Le Testament De La Lumiere - Echoes Out of Time
(CD)
(Steinklang: SK47)
 |
"Echoes Out of Time" is the band's second album and comes out more than 6 years after their debut-album, "Der Tod ist ein treuer Kamerad". Le Testament De La Lumiere is classical dark ambient with a strong neoclassic touch and many martial-Industrial elements. The album creates a dense and sometimes even oppressive atmosphere. A monumental soundtrack born out of darkest ages.. $14.50
|
Liyr - Fragments of Dust
(CD)
(Rage in Eden: Rage72)
 |
New French act operating in the heavy neo-classical realm, with some rather hefty martial percussion, stern brass, and apocalyptic choirs. There’s no re-invention of the wheel here, but it’s definitely well done - well produced, and not “canned” sounding at all.. $14.33
|
Lost Kingdom - Meant For Great Things
(CD)
(Waerloga: WAER07)
 |
Lost Kingdom's second installment "Meant for Great Things" is a truly great step in the right direction. The 9 tracks are thematically centered around a medieval tale, which unfolds in with epic full orchestra arrangements mixed with music for chamber ensemble and more intimate sections. Simon Kolle, the man behind bands such as Za Frûmi and Musterion (and more) have mastered this jewel of an album. The two Tjernberg brothers, that are Lost Kingdom, have done a more dramatic and powerful sounding songs this time around. Still it's neo-classical but this time the theme is hinted in the tracklist. Expect drama, war and tragedy. But also many beautiful pieces which are like magical gems on this fantastic album.. $13.99

Machinefabriek - Daas
(CD)
(Cold Spring: CSR128CD)
 |
The tracks on "Daas" have been carefully picked to form a provoking, haunting journey. What the tracks have in common is a sense of nostalgic graininess. As with the music of Philip Jeck, The Caretaker or William Basinski, these tracks are full of degrading melodies and dusty ambience. 'Daas' is the previously unreleased opening track of the album, and features contributions by the great Richard Skelton. 'Flotter', 'Koploop' and 'Grom' were previously available on small run self released EPs, while 'Onkruid' was a track previously released on 'A Room Forever', as an expensive and extremely limited 12" boxset. All are now brought to a wider audience. Presented in a matt laminate digipak.. $12.66

Mauthausen Orchestra - Digression
(CD)
(Silentes: SME1040)
 |
Pierpaolo Zopp / Mauthausen Orchestra returns with a new album comprised of one 40 minute track where the fury and aggressiveness of his usually harsh sonorities of a Noise/Power-Electronics nature are merged with quieter, more disorienting parts of wavering frequencies, unexpected rhythmic pulsations, and cosmic, synthesizer drift.. $13.50
|
Mekanorganik - How to Extract Sunlight From Cucumbers
(CD)
(Neuropa: NRP26)
 |
'How To Extract Sunlight From Cucumbers' is the debut album of the Belgian post industrial music formation MekanOrganiK, featuring three members of the well-known industrial percussion band MILITIA: Frank Gorissen, Sandra Janssen and Frank Van Hoof. They play rhythmic music using a combination of conventional instruments (percussion, guitar, effects, sequencer, wind instruments...) mixed with tools, machines and 'organic materials' such as wood, water, sand, stones, bones and skulls, glass and even cucumbers. The music of the album is based on the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver, the main character in Jonathan Swift's book 'Gulliver's Travels', which is a great and sophisticated satire of human nature based on Swift's experience of his times. 'Gulliver's Travels' is an anatomy of human nature and society and so is the music of MekanOrganiK. Stylistically, expect some resemblance at times to Militia (particularly in the sort of pulsating, rhythmic churn displayed in periodic tracks, such as Air Turbulence Machine, This Forest is Floating, or Biomechanoid), though this comes off as ultimately more experimental and psychedelic, offering a somewhat bizarre collection of textures, percussion, and noises. That being said, this has a great, hypnotic flow that begs to be listened to from start to finish. A nice companion to Militia, particularly when Neuropa has promised new work from them in the coming year. Cool, eh? I'm actually jealous.. $14.99
|
Melek-Tha - Apokalypsia
(CD)
(Necrocosm: Necro004)
 |
Not new, but one we missed the first time around. The formula's been established, so if you've heard other Melek-Tha releases, than you pretty much know what to expect - dark and sinister apocalyptic sounds, with ominous orchestral tones and hellish atmospheres. At least parts of this are more ambient than some of the other stuff I remember hearing from Lord Evil, and for the most part, it really works. I'm not entirely sure why Melek-Tha doesn't get a lot of respect - maybe it's the sample heavy nature and blatant plagariasm of their early years, but I can't find too much at fault with this stuff.. $11.00
|
Merzbow - Marmo
(CD)
(Old Europa Café: OECD131)
 |
After two vinyl releases, Merzbow returns to the digital spectrum with this latest album entitled "Marmo" (Marble for Italian), having been influenced by his trips to Italy (particularly Venice) and it's prolific use of marble in their architecture. 3 tracks of ultra-psychedelic and far out noise, with spasmodic eruptions of glitchy, fractured "rhythms" and cascading tonal fluctuations.. $14.50
|
Mika Goedrijk - Looking-Glass World
(CD)
(Ant-Zen: Act251)
 |
One year after Pellicules, Mika Goedrijk presents the next aural view of his inner self with Looking-Glass World. Musically, the self conceptional shift into the world of ambient idm sounds is evident.Well placed patterns enriched with mellow guitar slides (Dead Air), melancholy piano lines (At the 11th Hour), a distinctive (nearly) Aphex-Twin synth (White Sand Semantics), archaic trumpet calls (Lost Decade), pounding breakbeats with pulsing sub bass (Rusty Swiss Army Knife, Le Grand Mal), make this release a fascinating blend of contemporary electronic tones.Looking-Glass World is an album of otherworldly ambience entwined with a blend of acoustic sounds and sheets of sequenced patterns. A highly aesthetic sonic universe, where moods and mastery melt into warm, repetitive arrangements. Have a look into the looking-glass world.. $13.99
|
Militia - Archive Collection 1996-1997
(CD)
(Neuropa: NRP27)
 |
The first chapter of Militia's Archive Collection takes us back to their 1996-1997 recordings. Hard to believe it's been 14 years since I first reviewed some of these for Audio Drudge, and while it doesn't have quite the same impact it did back then, they definitely stand the test of time. The disc holds six tracks taken from the monumental 'War Against Society' compilation, the 'Pain/Familiedrama' tracks featuring Con-Dom and Laura Maes and ends with the 'Kingdom Of Our Lord' mcd. All tracks were previously released by the now defunct German cult-label Praxis Dr. Bearmann and serve as a nice appetizer for Militia's upcoming album 'Power, Propaganda, Production!'. For those that need an introduction to the Miltia sound (after all, they haven't been models of productivity the last few years), they are Belgian industrial-percussion group with anarchic leanings, creating intricate and intoxicating soundscapes built around persistent and surging rhythms, samples, vocal proclamations, and layers of electronics and wind instrumentation. An essential piece of industrial nostalgia!!. $14.33
|
Mothra - Doom Engine
(CD)
(Three Plugs: Plug003)
 |
Has my vote for being one of the most under rated and least appreciated *true* industrial records of the last decade. The 2nd album from this Tokyo quartet, recorded in 2005, is a monstrous piece of heavy industrial music with junk percussion, clanging metal, sludgey bass, uneasy noise, and distorted vocals. Will find much appeal for those into Neubauten, Sektor 304, even Anenzephalia in parts. Highly recommended, so don't miss out while it's here. For what it's worth, Mothra is now defunct, but has since been resurrected as Linekraft.. $13.00
|
Murderous Vision - Salvation on Sand Mountain C70
(Cassette)
(Danvers State Recordings: DSR20)
 |
MV has always explored many genres, ranging from dark ambient to neo-classical, but Salvation On Sand Mountain brings a much harsher, more oppressive approach. 70 minutes of solid death industrial and power electronics, easily comparable to early CMI releases. Features guest vocals by NYODENE D, THE VOMIT ARSONIST, CUNTING DAUGHTERS, FASCIST INSECT, and more. 100 copies.. $6.33
|
Musterion - The Wondrous Journey Through the Catacombs of Life
(CD)
(Horus CyclicDaemon: HCDXI)
 |
The Wondrous Journey Through the Catacombs of Life is the second album of Musterion, following the highly acclaimed debut album The Black Lodge (2005), built upon complex and obscure composition techniques and musical innovation, and it drags the listener on a brilliantly imaginative and frightening journey that combines elements of dark ambient, surrealism, absurdity, Holyism with the help advanced structural and theoretical considerations in terms of the composition. The tale is concerning mind control by psychic, electronic, sexual, pharmaceutical, subliminal, and other means. The story stretches into the absurd and surely Simon AA Kölle exorcising some demons of his own and exploring a musical world where regular music metre is unimportant, where the rhythm of a piece could be dictated by breathless inspiration more than moving pictures (as the case with film music) or to fit a specific genre. Yet he again expands and evolves the genre of dark ambient into art music.Due to the dramatic nature of the music, which is shifting pace of both horror and atmosphere, the only way it would feel real enough included incorporation of organic instruments and electro-acoustic instruments. Improvisations, twisted circus music, industrial parts and many atmospheric moments give way for a highly symbolistic album where all elements are pieces of the broken puzzle.Artwork and design by Niko Skorpio.. $13.33

Nadja - Autopergamene
(CD)
(Essence Music: ESS013)
 |
Call it drone-doom-dirge-shoegaze or any other in vogue nomenclature you like. It doesn’t matter. The music is so sublime and superb that we consider a waste of time trying to further categorize the spiraling sounds exhaling from a NADJA album. They are simply the true originators of this bred of blissful, seriously intense and ominously ethereal heavy sounds and one the few acts – along with the genius solo work from the duo’s main composer, Aidan Baker – we are truly obsessed with these days. That said, we are more than glad to welcome the Canadian duo to Essence Music with an immense masterwork!Autopergamene – a spell or charm wherein you write in blood, on a fragment of skin, what you wish to happen – finds NADJA at the peak of their sonic language of slow-blooming, heavily nuanced ambient guitar constructions and slow motion, lush, epic heaviness.Divided in three colossal movements, the album starts with the blissful, paced and almost orchestral – much aided by three guest members on strings and Aidan’s trombone, flute and piano – “You Write Your Name in My Skin”, travels through the straight up, super distorted and fuzzed out rumbling sludge riffages of “You Write Your Name in My Head” and its semi-growling processed vocals to finally unfold the nearly half-hour long “You Write My Name in Your Blood” that gracefully starts with delicate, lush acoustic guitars glacially giving birth to an enormous, shimmering and heavily layered symphonic wall to then submerge and bring in a hazy, sparkling and almost passionate, yet twisted, duetto of Aidan-Leah’s male-female voices. Breathtaking.Lavishly assembled in a custom 6-panel digisleeve packaging housing a 6 cards set with beautiful watercolor paintings and artwork by the gifted Portuguese artist L Filipe dos Santos. Superb mastering via James Plotkin.. $14.00

Nadja - Ruins of Morning 10 inch
(Vinyl)
(Substantia: SUB-13)
 |
Ruins of Morning shows Nadja in a very experimental & dark poetic mood. Their contribution for the "Substantia Innominata"-series (dealing with / drawing inspiration from the "Unknown", "Unnameable" or "Not-Knowable") comes in two long parts based around one musical theme that appears again and again (a great dark harmonic phrase moving through different levels through this epic track), linked by very beautiful drone-sections & more noisy outbursts. Song-orientation and a more experimental sound-art approach are thus combined perfectly. The lyrics from Aidan Baker point in a very poetic way to an utopian new morning where material values play no role anymore, but a new state of sensual being is settled in an almost J.G. Ballardian way, when perceptions of the environment (sky, lights, sun) and the beloved (eyes & skin) fall into one. Or is this a nocturnal boundless dream-fantasy? The wish / fear to return to mothers womb, a state where everything is one (one is all) again? These lyrics open up a scope of vague possible interpretations witch match up perfectly with the impressing music; a music that describes "The Unknown" in strong metaphors of surrealistic psychic states of being.Experience the avantgardish drone-metal duo at their most dark & beautiful and on their very first 10" ! Edition of 500 copies on gold vinyl, fantastic artwork by Marcin Lojek (ibsendesign.pl). One track in two very long parts, playtime 40+ minutes!. $13.00

Nadja/Troum - Dominium Visurgis
(CD)
(Transgredient: TR-07)
 |
This is something you could call a “dreamlike liaison”. When the Canadian “avant metal / drone doom”-duo Nadja (who cite Troum as one of their early influences) and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers Troum combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 “live in the studio” near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful & emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro-& macrocosmic ways, using electric & acoustic guitars, bass, accordeon, drum-machine & voice. –. $13.00

Nebelkorona - Tannenhochforst
(CD)
(Heimatfolk: Heimat09)
 |
Fours years after the highly acclaimed last full-length album "Reminiszenzen an das Morgenrot / Relikte des Abendrotes", Nebelkorona is back with the 2nd full-length entitled "Tannenhochforst". The new record features seven tracks of finest dark and melancholic Neofolk. Lamenting acoustic guitars are mixed with "romantic" and melancholic piano parts, solemn synthesizer landscapes and clean vocals. "Tannenhochforst" leads the listener to snow-covered alpine mountains and into wintry forests. The album is the perfect soundtrack for long and cold winter nights and for the soulful twilight in the alpine forests and mountains. The album is endowed with a crystal clear sound and features a great variety of moods and ambiences. "Tannenhochforst" was mastered by Axel Frank (Werkraum, Triarii, Sturmpercht,...) at the Blue Lounge Studios / Berlin (Germany) and features a video clip for the track "Windstille". The album is released in DIGIPAK format with a 16-pages booklet. $14.95

Nekrasov - Cognition of Splendid Oblivion
(CD)
(Siege of Power: SOP003)
 |
3rd full length from this one man Australian project, best known 'round these parts for the split LP with Aderlating. Horrifying black noise meets terrifyingly raw, blasting black metal chaos. Together, the whole thing is just a crushing deluge of mayhem and dark insanity. Beautiful fold out 6 panel digipak.. $12.33

Nihil Novi Sub Sole - Jupiter Temple
(CD)
(My Kingdom Music: Echo57)
 |
Here is the new born musical apocalypse of Dutch mastermind Marco Kehren (Deinonychs). Nihil Novi Sub Sole takes the listener into a downward spiral of dark stained compositions, which combines dark Ambient sounds with eerie sounding orchestration and choirs wrapped in Martial Industrial-like sound compositions, with heavy militaristic drums. Evidently influenced by the like of Rome. Mastered by Axel Frank (Werkraum, Sturmpercht). Beautifully presented in an A5 digipak. $13.33

Nordvargr/Surachai - A Wilderness of Cloades
(CD)
(Old Europa Café: OECD133)
 |
What began as a mutual correspondence turned into an immediate respect and eventually a sickness and obsession that resulted in this album. The two artists, NORDVARGR who hails from the depths of Sweden's wintered wastelands, and SURACHAI from the frozen concrete jungles of Chicago, explored new sonic territory and claimed them as their own. Their shared knowledge of process and inspiration gave way to a smothering environment populated by long shadows and empty cities...dark electronic soundscapes with insectile and alien noises, ominous orhcestral undercurrents, unsettled frequencies, and ominous glitches suggestive of something gone awry. While others sleep and hibernate, the one's haunting dreams weave on the sunless winter days. Lmtd 300 copies, which I suppose dictates the price. Not going to officially post it, but there MAYBE a boxset or two available for those interested. Roughly $58 if you want it. Drop me a line at malignant@03.malignantrecords.com to reserve.. $16.66

Oophois - An Aerial View
(CD)
(Glacial Movements: WSGM01)
 |
First offering from the 'Würm Series', based on the world's most recent glaciation (10,000 years ago) and asking each artist to describe this endless Ice Age. "When I’ve been asked to describe the Ice Age with an uninterrupted drone, I knew I wanted to avoid the cliches of the genre: dark rumblings, massive low frequencies, cold atmospheres. I had to describe with sounds the white landscape, the blinding light reflected by the frozen oceans, the abyssal silence. I have imagined myself in flight over this Sleeping Earth, a solitary winged-being surrounded by winds, air, water and ice. This led me to compose an airy drone with minimal variations and delicate tones, an homage to a pure, uncontaminated and remote land" (Oöphoi). A singular 65-minute track presented in a digipak. Ltd x 750.. $14.66

Orchestra Noir - What If....
(CD)
(Neuropa: NRP28)
 |
This is the first full-length album from Tony Wakeford's new-look Orchestra Noir since its resurrection as a London based project. With a move away from the martial towards musicians and compositions more based on chamber, and early music. In 2006 a collaboration started with Current 93 collaborator Richard Moult and acclaimed oboist Mark Baigent based initially on the words and music of Tony Wakeford but which soon flourished as a collaboration between the three and later with the acclaimed early-music violinists and viola players, Ben Sansom and Alexandria Lawrence. With the addition of Sol Invictus percussionist M and flutist Guy Harries, a synthesis of experimental and traditional took place with unhealthy dollops of Edwardian dark whimsy, humor and satire. Aided by the folki voice of Autumn Grieve and the Jazz improvisation of Jessica Constable, an intriguing new direction had begun. $14.50

Organum - Valentin 7 inch
(Vinyl)
(Equation Records: E=MC23)
 |
233 numbered copies. Heavy matte picture sleeve plus matching card insert (both full CMYK). First vinyl release by Organum in over 7 years. It is hard to underestimate the importance and significance of Organum. David Jackman (the force behind the project) wishes the audio to speak for itself and prefers not to attempt to describe the contents of this release. However, it is worthy to note that the greatest possible care was made to every aspect of this release -- which was mastered at Prairie Cat Mastering, who provided the most clear and dynamic audio possible. A release worthy of inclusion in the extensive discography of Organum.". $12.75

Penjaga Insaf - Sama Sadja
(CD)
(Power & Steel: PAS27)
 |
For several years Ingo Sauerbrey made extensive travels through Indonesia, always carrying recording equipment to collect sounds as an audio diary. During periodic return trips to Germany, he started to work on the recordings with electronic devices. Some sounds were edited, cut and transformed, while others were kept completely intact. To name a few sound sources only recordings from Water Puppet and Shadow Theatres, Gamelan and various welcoming and fighting dances like Kecak, Jegog and the Tarian Caci were used for this album. Some of those impressive performances were made of 60 to 90 men chanting and dancing while a bamboo orchestra used 4 meter long bamboo sticks playing bass drums on it. Sada SAdja is weaving together the sounds of living traditions, religions and languages with spherical ambient pads and electronically edited drones from the field recordings. This is an contemplative and intimate soundtrack from the deepest heart of South East Asia. LOKI/PaS. $14.50

Phaenon - His Master's Voice
(CD)
(Malignant: TumorCD45)
 |
After the well received debut Submerged, Phaenon follows things up with an even deeper immersion into a world of bleak, isolationist sounds. Whereas Submerged was one long and infinitely expansive drone piece, His Master’s Voice is broken up into four separate, but flowing tracks of sprawling and spacious ambient drift, laced with interstellar disturbances, probing, alien tones and icy shards of celestial debris…a whirling specter of darkness and void-ic space, thematically based upon the 1968 novel of the same name by Stanislaw Lem, which is centered around the efforts by scientists to decode, translate and understand a series of extraterrestrial transmissions. As a whole, His Master’s Voice represents a logical progression in Phaenon’s sound and is the ultimate in headphone listening. In gorgeous 6 panel digipak.. $12.00

Phelios - Astral Unity
(CD)
(Malignant: TumorCD44)
 |
Following two CDs on Eternal Soul and a recent split LP on LOKI, Germany’s revered dark ambient project Phelios makes their first appearance for Malignant. With its swirling cosmic drones and sweeping, cinematic drift, the music of Phelios is breathtaking and hypnotic, often evoking moments of serenity and beauty, yet spiking them with deep cushions of ritualistic percussion and textural squalls that suggest something much more ominous and threatening looms on the vast horizon. Collectively, Astral Unity is thoughtful and concise – a vivid and richly detailed entity that’s alive and constantly evolving, channeling the universe while simultaneously exploring the inner regions of a more primordial earth. In 6 panel digipak, with gold foil stamping.. $12.00

Phragments & Korinth - Mysteries of the Greylands
(CD)
(Greytone: Grey01)
 |
Always nice to get some new sounds from Phragments, even if it is in collaborative form, which in this case, is with fellow Slovakian, Korinth, whose Sign of Eternal Return CD we heaped praises on several years ago. A pretty natural blending of styles here - the flowing orchestral drones of Korinth seemlessly merging with the more cinematic and ominous stylings of Phragments. It is more graceful and not as bombastic as I was thinking it might be, but still, beautifully executed and well conceived.. $13.66

Praying for Oblivion - Turm Schweigen CD
(CD)
(Obscurex: Obs001)
 |
9 year retrospective ('97-'07) of this Buffalo based industrial noise/p.e. artist. Not original per se, but well done all the same, delivering 7 tracks of some rather gritty, soot choked atmospherics, roaring saturated frequencies, and deep bass heavy rumbles and crunch, with some classic vocals! For fans of Operation Cleansweep and the like. Lmtd 200. $12.33

Procer Veneficus - Convoy Pt 2
(CD)
(God is Myth: GIM30)
 |
After releasing the stunning "A Summerhaze Array for August Nights" 2 cd boxed set, now comes this new effort from Procer Veneficus. Convoy (Pt. 2) takes off in a slightly different direction in terms of composition and form but make no mistake, this is Procer Veneficus' greatest and most absorbing / thought provoking work to date. Almost an hour of psychedelic, cosmic and highly atmospheric Black Metal delivered like no other... thus the inclusion in the Malignant catalog.. $11.00

Profane Grace - Nocturnal Omniscience
(CD)
(Indiestate: IST075)
 |
The first new full-length album from this long standing project since 2003. Devotees of PG's unique brand of cryptic and sepulchral gloom, haunting rituals, and somber symphonic incantations will be "happy" to know that not much has changed in that time, except maybe the production values, which have certainly gotten better. The release limited to 500 copies comes in a monochrome black mini LP-like cover with silkscreened elements.. $14.77

Pyramids - Wvndrkmmer 5xCS
(Cassette)
(Small Doses: Dose88)
 |
Pyramids (hydra head records) provided 52 artists participating in the project four different audio clips - not so much a song, but four separate, cooperating textures. Each artist was asked to create an entirely new piece of music incorporating what they wished from the provided sounds, whatever techniques they wanted to employ, and whatever additions they wished to make. This box set is the result of their experiment. There are a ton of amazing artists on this thing, including Amber Asylum, Burial Hex, Black Seas of Infinity, Fear Falls Burning, Luasa Raelon, Neuntoter der Plage, Oakeater, Rise of Because, Yen Pox, Teeth Collection, Tenhornedbeast, and tons more. Over six hours of music, lmtd to 300 copies. Quite necessary!!. $28.50

Rape-X - False
(CD)
(At War With False Noise: Atwar038)
 |
First full album on proper CD from these degenerates. Rape-X play scuzzy, filthy power electronics; all crack dens, backstreet abortions and low-life criminal acts. There's a lot of ridiculously over-the-top Bloodyminded-esque PE going on here, delivered in a very metal style - but for me they're at their most effective on long, claustrophic passages such as "Arson" or the harrowing final track, "False". Dark, sub-industrial clanking in the background, behind walls of air-raid siren drones. Powerful. often brutal stuff, and not for the faint of heart.. $12.33
|
Rapoon - The Bush Prophet
(CD)
(Ewers Tonkunst: IST079)
 |
“The Bush Prophet” is a brand new album from this legendary and highly influential project, which unique style of blending industrial, ethno-rhythmic and cut-up techniques has gained international recognition and made Rapoon one of the main artists in its genre. This work has an accent on more dark, hard and anxious sound constructions than most of its recent albums, it is full of tension and scepticism, but with no lack of inner hope though.Like it’s last year Soleilmoon release “Melancholic Songs Of The Desert”, it deals with isolationism and the myth of democracy. Manipulated by media and bombarded with political spin we live in a world where our political choices are reduced to almost zero. Faced with a hostile world and lies from every direction is it any wonder that there is a need to retreat to try and find some peace and humanity. The voices on the television make promises and soothing noises then wage unjust wars in our name. The lies fall like honey and nothing changes. These songs are a retreat into the one place that no government has yet found a way into, the free and open spaces of the mind. They are spontaneous and mediative reflections looking for an inner peace in a world made ugly by hatred and war. They symbolize a kind of "walkabout" and a reconnection with a lost sense of belonging spiritually, intellectually and physically with the world we inhabit. The music here looks for a sense of inner being that one can only find in quiet isolation. The release is limited to 500 copies and comes in a stylish digisleeve with artwork by Robin Storey. $14.77

Rapoon - Wasteland Raga
(CD)
(Aquarellist: Aqua11)
 |
Brand new release from ethno-ambient act Rapoon. "While I was recently traveling through Eastern Europe recently, I passed through an area of industrial decline that reminded me strongly of the devastation of the Industrial heartlands of the UK during the early Thatcher years. The broken windows and twisted metal of the abandoned warehouses, the derelict pit-heads and the ruined factories all brought back memories of that grim time when the divide between rich and poor was never so obvious. Yet amongst the derelict factories and the red-brick estates of the North of England new music and art sprang forth as if driven by the desolate conditions. Out of the darkness came forth beauty in many forms. Wasteland Raga is a remembrance of those times when art and politics held close and intertwined out of a real sense of purpose and unity... Viva revolution!!!". Ltd x 1000 copies in a digipak with two artcards.. $14.77

Reformed Faction - Until...
(CD)
(Greytone: Grey03)
 |
Reformed Faction are Robin Storey and Mark Spybey , both ex-members of zoviet*france and both with long established and productive solo careers as Rapoon and Dead Voices On Air respectively. As such, there's a definite ZF vibe that runs through here - dreamy, transcendental drones and shimmering, hazy textures that seem to stretch out into an endless horizon, with an ever so slight toe dip into ritualistic areas.. $13.49

Roma Amor - Femmina
(CD)
(Old Europa Café: OECD122)
 |
Second album from this Italian duo. Terrific, totally authentic and well done noir-cabaret. Think smokey cafe on a dark Roman side street, this is the music of old Europa - romantic, sombre and melancholy with it's steady accordian drone, raspy female vocals, and gentle guitar melodies.. $14.33
|
Rome - L'Assassin mCD
(CD)
(Trisol: TRI382)
 |
The Assassin - Murder? Crime of passion? Rome's new 'Chanson Noir' speaks of man's enslavement in a world of constant transformation. The traditions of (French) Chanson and (American) Folk are becoming more influential in their current work. Chansonniers like Léo Ferré, Jacques Brel and singer / songwriter heroes like Cave, Cash and Cohen are obvious influences. This is the darker side of singer / songwriter tradition: post-industrial-folk with elements of Electro-Pop, complex arrangements of breathtaking melodies, mesmerising ballads of lyrical beauty, underlining Rome's ethos of never faltering or remaining uninvolved. Features four songs, among which the exclusive and intimate track "One Flesh", along with reinvented, "stringed" versions of two classic tracks "Der Erscheinungen Flucht' and 'Der Brandtaucher' (from "Masse Mensch Material"). Rome: unmasked, honest and authentic! Digipak.. $12.00

RU-486 - Filth Fantasies C10 CS
(Cassette)
(Destructive Industries: DI029)
 |
Originally released on Violent Noise Atrocities, FF finds it's second home on D.I. in the form of 50 copies. Hailed as the strongest RU-486 material to date, this classic PE release harkens a 100% vile, negative, and confrontational approach. Ferocity and anger turns into a war for throats and knives.. $6.33

Sehnsucht - Wuste
(CD)
(Cold Spring: CSR124CD)
 |
Former MAYHEM front man MANIAC, whose band SKITLIV has proved to be a surprising departure from the Black Metal genre for which he was best known for over 20 years, has formed a side-project with fiancé Vivian Slaughter, bass player/vocalist with the Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER, SKITLIV's guitarist Ingvar Magnusson and experimentalist Andrew Liles (NURSE WITH WOUND). Unlike SKITLIV, which is a noise/doom amalgam, with Maniacs vocals still firmly rooted in Black Metal, SEHNSUCHT is in the noise / darkwave / ambient genre, with any vestiges of Black Metal pared away. 6-panel digipak.. $13.33

Sektor 304 - Soul Cleansing
(CD)
(Malignant: TumorCD43)
 |
Equipped with a frightening and impressive array of primitive instrumentation pulled from junkyards and scrap metal heaps, this Portuguese outfit has delivered an astounding formal debut – a heady mixture of truly old school industrial in the vein of Einsturzende Neubauten, Test Dept , and S.P.K , and the grinding, bass heavy dirge of vintage Swans and Godflesh . These are anthems to the past, but geared towards an apocalyptic and bleak future… a form of counter-culture using what is most evident in modern western society: the debris, the abandoned objects, the waste, the noise, and the interference. With a solid foundation of rusty, oil drenched percussion, Sektor 304 adds layer upon layer of squalling industrial clangor, hammering metallic noise, grimy atmospheres, heaving masses of haunted factory drones, and threatening tribal batter, with a strong and commanding vocal presence. The sound here is almost physical in nature – provocative, persistent, and demanding. No one is doing what Sektor 304 is doing right now. Anyone into TRUE industrial (and that includes not just the aformentioned old guard, but also things like Strom.ec , Militia, Negru Voda , and Knifeladder ) really should not miss out.In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Steel Hook Audio. 3 tracks posted on the Malignant myspace, so be sure to check them out if you want an idea of what Sektor brings to the table. $12.00

Seven Minutes of Nausea/Kusari Gama Kill - Collapsing In
(CD)
(R.O.N.F. Records: CDN001)
 |
Holy shit - you want a challenging listen, subject yourself to the 18 minute track from 7MON that kicks this split CD off . Full on abrasive noise-core, with no semblance of structure whatsoever - just non-linear, improvised (I hope) chaos fueled by crashing drums, vocal flatulence, trashy bass and guitar insanity. Nausea is right. KGK take a similar approach, but are ultimately more listenable, as one is able to at least discern their grindcore roots - spastic noise, electronics glitches, flanged vocals, and cascading waves of hyper-drumming that come flying out of your speakers at 1000mph in short bursts (except for the 10 minute psychedlic noise ride of the track Nausea Revisited that is). For noise freaks only! I need a nap.. $10.00

Sewer Election - Bristning LP
(Vinyl)
(Release the Bats: RTB59)
 |
Originally released as a tape in 100 copies on Klorofyll Kassetter in 2008 which sold out immediately, Bristning finally gets the vinyl treatment. For this reissue, Dan Johansson revisited the original masters recorded at Utmarken in 2008 and elaborated it into an extended version, now clocking in on 33 minutes. Bristning shows the progression between the loop-based vocal manipulations on Kassettmusik (iDEAL) and the Vidöppna Sår LP (Pan), weaving together elements from both. A RTB favorite in the big Sewer Election discography. Mastered for vinyl by Viktor Ottosson. Klorofyll said: "Sewer Election gives you a twisted world of decay and filth. Putting out records since 2002, on labels like Segerhuva, Release the Bats!, iDEAL and Troniks, you can definately say Sewer Election has been around quite a while delivering his punches of endlessly violent bursts of noise. Earlier this year, on his latest album called Kassettmusik, Sewer Election introduced a new sound to his music, replacing his former well knowned harsh noise to a more subtle and restrained soundscape, although nonetheless still filled with the corrupting and creepy feeling of moral decay and disease. In many ways Bristning is following in this direction, continuing with a tapeloop orientated sound, and in many ways it is not. Using all kinds metal junk to create analogue noise this recording is at times far more harsh than any fx-pedal ever can be. Bristning consists of only analogue sounds, recorded using microphones and a tapedeck, reducing the artificial feeling and creates a gritty and filthy sound of a world falling into pieces.". $21.00

Sewer Goddess - With Dirt You Are One
(CD)
(Black Plagve: Infect06)
 |
Following numerous cassette and vinyl releases, With Dirt You Are One represents the first formal CD release from this Boston based cult project and officially kicks off the return of Malignant side label, Black Plagve. Expect 9 tracks of wretched, filth ridden, post mortem electronics, spewing forth a barrage of unclean frequencies, skuzzy reverberations, blackened drones, and anguished, inhuman vocalizations. Filled with negativity and dread, this is a hellishly grim and visceral assault, and essential listening for anyone into the darker, more depraved side of heavy electronics .Lmtd 500 copies, in jewel box.. $11.00

Sewer Goddess/Diseased Oblivion - Split CDr
(CD)
(Degenerate Slime Distro: DSD01)
 |
Lmtd 100 CDr split. Two tracks from SG kick things off - the first a nice slab of blackened, super heavy dirge with spoken vocals and some gently discordant feedback squall. The second track is all fucking doom - total morbidity, with down tuned bass, mutated guitar riffs, slow, crushing percussion, and ungodly, bloodcurdling screams. Maybe my favorite Sewer Goddess track of all time, which is really saying something. After this track, what Diseased Oblivion does is really inconsequential, but for the record, they deliver some high quality, death-doom: slow (naturally), towering, and heavily atmospheric with impossibly low, gurgling vocals that sound utterly inhuman. This just oozes evil. Lmtd stock that's sure to go fast, which is somewhat of a shame, because this could really stand to use a broader audience.. $9.00

Simon Kolle - Res Dej Inte!
(CD)
(Neuropa: NRP24)
 |
An original motion picture soundtrack composed by Simon Kolle of Abnocto and Za Frumi fame, who of course was already making some pretty suberb cinematic music as is, just not offically part of a soundtrack like this is. According to the press release, the film is a dark, realistic story, following three youth gangs, their lives, and their time spent on the streets. Over a relatively short span the characters deal with paranoia, pain, violence and more. The film is powerful and grim, with the last scenes totally unforgettable. The plot comes to a sudden end and there are no truths about what really happened. More than a film, Res dej inte! is a comment about the ongoing violence in society. Suitably, the music is dark suspenseful, broken up into short segments and spanning a broad array of sounds. Mostly though this is heavily atmospheric and ambient, with occasional outbursts of a more violent and dramatic nature, as you might expect based on the plot. As it draws to an end, there's a series of rather structured, folky songs that I assume are important to the plot, though they're slightly out of place here. Easy to overlook in an otherwise strong piece of work.. $13.99

Squaremeter - Helioglabal
(CD)
(Ant-Zen: Act248)
 |
Mootz' skills of creating unbearable tension and covering all bases between absolute silence up to vibrating choirs and distant industrial outbursts are clear on this album. 'Heliogabal' is an intermixture of hypnotic deep drones, haunting basses and disturbing soundscapes. Cinematic field recordings, intermittent hypnotic sequencer loops and urgent eruptions of sound merge into an incredible collection of atmospheric dark ambient tracks. This album might be useful as an imaginary trip into a sable, a cruel past where man had the potential of being a god - before finally being disgraced.adjust the headphones - references are legion, sunn O))), lustmord, clock dva.... $14.33

Sub Luna - Awake!
(CD)
(Cyclic Law: 1stEclipse)
 |
Sub Luna is a Swedish duo formed by Mikael Lindblom (also a live collaborator for Karjalan Sissit) and Fredrik Sooberg. After four years of silence they return with their new album Awake! Their sound has definitely been refined and expands the framework established with their previous album, the double CD “"In The Shade of time". On this second album Sub Luna are merging the more traditional elements of the dark folk genre with influences from the world of pop and rock and thus avoid falling into trappings of the genre. Awake! Also symbolically marks the ending of one era and the beginning of another. These are songs of love and hate, nostalgia and progression, magic and loss... songs of protest from the age of nihilism. With a guest vocal appearance by Ann-Mari Thim (Arcana) and Mastering done by Peter Bjargo. Mesmerizing quality Folk Noir brought to you through Cyclic Law's new "Eclipse Series".Edition of 1000 copies in 4 Panel Digipack with 8 pages Booklet.. $12.50

TenHornedBeast - Hunts & Wars
(CD)
(Cold Spring: CSR130)
 |
TenHornedBeast’s third album for Cold Spring was recorded from 2006-2009. This album introduces subtle changes to the established THB sound with delicate interludes separating longer tracks that rage with heavy distortion and doom-drone barbarism. “Hunts & Wars” progresses the established THB sound using leaden, sub-tuned bass guitar to create rhythms and riffs that dominate a battlefield of vast ritual percussion and droning walls of electric dissonance, creating epic and expansive textures that by turns burn with frost and freeze with fire. Influenced by the oneiric visions of Robert E Howard and Lord Dunsany. "Hunts & Wars” seeks to evoke the elemental, anti-modern fantasias of these writers and is presented in a 6-panel digipak designed by graphic designer Kevin Yuen (Sunn O))), Wolves In The Throne Room) to its full grotesque glory. The days have come when the steel will rule. Titans arise, monuments fall. Ballads of victory and defeat are sung aloud as from the highest steps we are swept on to the eternal Hunts and Wars. $13.33

Trees - Freed of the Flesh
(CD)
(Crucial Blast: CBR83)
 |
The mysterious Portland ensemble Trees returns with their second offering on Crucial Blast, Freed of This Flesh--two fetid death rituals scraped from the crypt. Both tracks average around fourteen minutes; extended death-rattles comprised of glacial riffs, tectonic percussive rumbles, anguished shrieks of torment and abject suffering, low-end growls and endless sheets of glistening, metallic feedback that spill across the distant edges of their sound. This is extreme, time-stretched ambient doom--a crumbling, blighted majesty adrift on putrescent tides. The austere slabs of crushing heaviness move so slowly that the music loses all sense of propulsion at times, becoming lost in a fog of howling amplifiers and buzzing feedback. Atmospheric guitars stretch into massive decomposing drones, the spaces between infested with controlled bursts of drums that skitter and rumble. Freed of This Flesh inhabits the same tar-black depths as Burning Witch, Monarch, Khanate and Bunkur, twisting slow-motion heaviness into their own skeletal configuration.. $11.66

Various Artists - Die Geburt des Jahrtausends LP

For some stupid reason, I thought this was new, when in actuality it came out in 2002. I have the thing too, which shows where my memory is now that I'm in my 40's. At any rate, if you missed it the first go around, it's certainly worth taking a look at (and not just because I bought a shitload of them), as this lmtd 500 LP features tracks from Krieger, Legion Condor, Operation Julmon, Sekton B, Leiche Rustikal, and Rasthof Dachau.. $14.99

Various Artists - Fear Drop Vol. 15 Magazine/CD
(CD)
(Fear Drop: Fear15)
 |
Latest issue of this French magazine, this time all in French (imagine that!). Obviously, if it were just a zine, I probably wouldn't carry it, but the fact that this comes with a CD featuring new material from Thomas Koner, Francisco Lopez, BJ Nilsen, Michael Northam, Black to Comm and others obviously makes it more appealing. Nonetheless, it is a beautifully presented issue and features articles/interviews with some of the above, as well as reviews and pics.. $16.50

Various Artists - In Hoc Signo Vinces
(CD)
(Black Goat records: BGR025)

Four way split containing new tracks from Halo of the Sun, Gnaw Their Tongues, The Arm and the Sword of the Bastard God, and the Slaughtered Lamb. Black metal, doom metal, black ambient, and however you want to classify GTT, any way you slice it, the stuff on here is grimey, bleak and fiendishly downtempo. Worth it for GTT alone of course, but the 26 minute ritual/ambient epic from The Slaughtered Lamb is not to be missed.. $12.50

Various Artists - The Vomit Arsonist/Wince/Peter J Woods 3xCS Box
(Cassette)
(Phage Tapes: PT:80)
 |
Been sitting on this for a couple of weeks, really hoping to get a chance to absorb it properly, and just running out of time. Maybe I should spend less time going to metal festivals? Hmm, we'll see about that. At any rate, I did give it a quick run through. VA delivers what you'd expect - a scourge of high caliber death industrial/power electronics. Wince hits hard - extreme, metallic and junk sounds that made me think of a nails and screws going around (at a fast pace I might add) in a massive concrete mixer. The flip side is somewhat more restrained and linear - feedback, rough textures, and scraping metallic noises. Woods is dark, threatening, and the most atmospheric of the bunch...starting minimal and building up the intensity levels.. $15.66
|
Velehentor - From the Gloom of Graves/Stonewells of Aeternity
(CD)
(Abgvrd: Smersh02)
 |
Other project of Anton Sheforostov of Closing the Eternity fame that's full of hopelessness and dread - but of course, you'd probably expect that based on the title. Down tempo and depressed washes of solemn and murky electronic soundscapes that move slowly through a foggy haze, with touches of dark ritualism. Gloom is the operative word here and feelings of emptiness and and despair run rampant throughout. Doesn't necessarily sound like Profane Grace (at least the majority of the time) but will appeal to the same crowd.. $10.66
|
Visions - Summoning the Void
(CD)
(Cyclic Law: 24thCycle)
 |
Following in the foot steps of the acclaimed "Lapse" album released in 2005, "Summoning The Void" offers a deeper and more refined rendering of previously explored themes. This is unmistakably VISIONS, but a notch above in terms of spaciousness and musicality and there's an even more profound spirituality transpiring from these tracks. Passages that are more solemn and austere give way to ritualized motifs where voices from the void whisper words beyond words. And then, calm drifts bearing a more aerial and streamlined quality emerge, from which shards of light cut through the massive pitch-black backdrop where a bulging red sun awaits in the distance, endlessly and slowly consuming itself. Beyond that, nothingness. Void. This is the journey where Visions wants to lead us, a world and non-world of infinite proportions, a macrocosmic voyage through the hidden and intangible vastness of all...for we are stardust...Edition of 1000 copies in A5 foldout cardboard sleeve with embossed lettering.5 Tracks. Running Time 53:90. $12.50

Voidwork - Horror/Forsaken
(CD)
(Black Drone: BDRL006)
 |
VoidWork started in 2008 with the purpose of creating a haunting musical atmosphere. The concept is inspired by early 20th century supernatural literature and more recent horror cinema. In order to add a more diverse vocal sound, Ann-Mari Thim (Arcana) joined Voidwork in the Spring of 2009. Debut album "Asylum" was released in June 2009 through Essentia Mundi. Second album "Forsaken" as well as third release "Horror" will soon be available through Black Drone records. Horror/Forsaken is a double album based loosely on the concepts of fear, abandonment and mankind's meaningless place in an impersonal Universe. "Horror", the first half of the release, is relatively song oriented and was inspired musically by nineties dark wave, as well as traditional melodies of both Eastern and Western culture. "Forsaken" mainly carries traditional dark ambient influences and focuses on atmosphere rather than on conventional song structure or sound. Both dark halves come together to make a black whole that is organic in its origin and purpose. From waking to sleep, birth to death.. $10.66

Vomm - Black Catharsis CS
(Cassette)

Von Thronstahl - Bellum Sacrum Bellum
(CD)
(Eternal Pride: EPPXVII)

Eternal Pride Prod. present re-release the third and arguably best album of Von Thronstahl. Originally released in July 2003, "Bellum Sacrum Bellum" was the so far last official album by German Neo-classic act Von Thronstahl and was released more than 2 years after their latest release. The album is questioning the so called ‘just wars’ mentality of certain world leaders of these days and offers Von Thronstahl's usual mixture of neo-classical orchestrations and beat orientated bombast electro. Wakeford, Tony - Not All of Me Will Die
(CD)
(The Eastern Front: Front023)
 |
«Non omnis moriar»—«Not all of me will die». Over 2000 years ago, the Roman poet Horace wrote this line. Its poignant defiance of human mortality and faith in the transcending power of art rings out down the ages, finding an echo in this new work from Tony Wakeford, best known as the founder of seminal English dark folk band Sol Invictus. Not All Of Me Will Die is Tony Wakeford’s fourth solo studio album. It commemorates the life and work of the Polish-Ukrainian Jewish poetess Zuzanna Ginczanka, who was executed by the Gestapo in Kraków in 1944. All of the album’s lyrics are based on Ginczanka’s verses. As with his last solo outing, 2007’s Into The Woods, Tony Wakeford is joined here by a range of guest musicians and vocalists, including avant-garde composer Susan Matthews and members of Orchestra Noir, Zunroyz and Sol Invictus. $12.00

Welter in thy Blood - Through the Fields of Mourning CD
(CD)
(Shadowgraph: Shadow04)
 |
New release from this LA based funeral -doom-ambient-black-metal hybird, offering an hours worth of foul, impure atmospheres and desolate hopelessness. This moves like tar….ultra sparse and depressive, with extended passages of ever so subtle, shifting textures and minimal drones that eventually rise to meet blackened guitar sludge, with crashing cymbals and whispered vocal torment, before drifting back into an ambient abyss. Music you probably don’t want to listen to if you’re on the verge of suicide, or mass murder.. $10.66

Wicked Messenger - The River Disappeared Sideways
(CD)
(Plague Recordings: Plague05)
 |
Seriously dark and foreboding ambience here from Wicked Messenger. I mean really, where have I been that I haven't heard this guys stuff until now? More active than Visions, with deep, reverberating synth waves resonating across a blackening horizon, hinting at something massive and sinister looming just out of sight. Top notch.. $14.50
|
Wicked Messenger - Vision Rites And Techniques of Ecstacy
(CD)
(Plague Recordings: Plague010)
 |
Other than having seen them periodically on Myspace, I confess I don't know much about this project. But now, even that acounts been deleted, so I have only the music to go on, which is ultimately all that matters anyhow of course. Normally I wouldn't even care, but the material is strong enough that it piqued my curiosity to find out more about this project and it just suprised me I hadn't actually heard anything before. So, what exactly do we have here? 7 tracks of deliciously dark, mystical, and occult inspired drift that floats and weaves it's way through abandoned Mayan temples and steamy Central American jungles. Minimalistic, bleak, desolate, and very haunting....what more do you need?. $14.50

Wolfskin feat. Last Industrial Estate - Stonegates of Silence
(CD)
(Malignant: TumorCD46)
 |
And so the journey formally ends for Wolfskin, 15 years from whence it began with the release of the Hidden Fortress cassette back in 1995. The essence of Wolfskin has transformed and mutated throughout the years, reaching on "The Stonegates of Silence" it's simpler form….one of desolation, solitude, insanity and death, the final frontiers of human existence. As he did with The Hidden Fortress: A Revisitation CD, Wolfskin once again pairs up with Anders Peterson of Objekt 4 fame, now operating under the name of Last Industrial Estate for the purposes of this recording. This is Wolfskin at its bleakest and most restrained, offering 5 tracks of enveloping ambience built around foggy, ambiguous textures and an endless flow of drifting isolationism, shapeless horrors, and oppressive subterranean heaviness. In the case of Stonegates, Wolfskin goes out not with a bang, but with a slow, evolutionary creep into the shadows, forever etched in the lexicon of dark ambient music. In 4 panel digipak.. $11.00

xAllxForxThisx - Chemical Death Rattle C25
(Cassette)
(Phage Tapes: PT094)

Straight edge (yes, straight edge) power electronics from Peter J Woods and Jay Linksy. No chance of missing the message here! For fans of Slogun and Bloodyminded (only better!). $7.00
