This new album consists of two live in studio scrap metal recordings that utilise an approach called 'Factory of Metal Sound'. This new technique allows for the recordist to assemble a sonic machine using unwanted industrial products. Taking a form of sound recording that has always been essentially 'free form' and 'open' . This approach replaces structure in the existence of the objects being used, and therefore gives them back their original purpose as factory made objects. Layering the sound of each object (chains. nails. barrels.pipes.sheet metal.etc) a territory is created that can be expanded upon and explored. These recordings represent the progress that had to be made with regard to recording scrap metal sound. They create an approach that is truly experimental in nature and not simply mere imitation.These recordings aspire to something beyond that which was inherited. From Hal himself: "Recorded during the same series of sessions that resulted in 'Corrupted Scrap' (Freak Animal Records 2011),'Wreckage & Reconstruction' uses the same Factory Of Metal Sound technique that was applied to some of my previous metalwork releases,but this time exhibits a much more overdriven and bulked up end result that I was not expecting,as most of the prior attempts at perfecting and genuinely capturing the sound I wanted had ended up yielding more 'ambient' results.However,as is the nature with improvised sound recording,one never knows what will be the outcome.
Despite the fact that all the recordings I have made using the Factory Of Metal Sound technique have ultimately failed in capturing the sound I wanted to present successfully,'Wreckage & Reconstruction' I feel bears the most faithful resemblance to the sound I originally desired,and is therefore the closest I have come to truly instinctive and direct expression as far as the previous metalwork releases I have recorded are concerned.I wanted to capture an original sound by bringing any outside influences to collapse,and to reconstruct a new environment from there onwards,allowing for these recordings to exist without the need for comparisons.What you hear on this record is me playing with my life involved.". $11.00

There's no way my limited brain capacity can accurately describe this, but suffice to say, it sees Horologium veering off in a different direction than what you might expect; folk-ish (without necessarily being folk), with some loops, violins, spoken/sung female vocals, all done in a sort of Eastern European manner and feel. I guess parts of it sort of remind of Novy Svet with some early Allerseelen? This is the first release starting a trilogy of Horologium's postmodern-folkish adventure - comes limited to 300 black vinyl records. To be followed by 10" and 12" releases, that will be all released on La Esencia Records.. $8.33

Horologium return with an all new album. Imposing martial trumpets, strong orchestral fury and tribal percussion have been skillfully combined with delicate neoclassical fragments, dreamy ambient parts and female recitation. Lim. 333 copies, with poster. Horologium's done some good work in the past for sure, but he definitely outdoes himself here.I'm gathering by the dedication this was originally supposed to be released on Cold Meat? No matter, awfully nice presentation courtesy of the Spanish label Laesencia. Recommended!. $11.00
