Dark Matter - How Cold Is the Sun CD ( Cryo Chamber: Cryo008)
How Cold is the Sun presents a journey to the deepest black, a highly unsettling album from German Ann Jachec. Her nightmarish soundscapes easily seep into the psyche of the listener. Drone like bottoms, scraping highs and an atmospheric balanced resonance in the mids creates not only a very well mixed voyage, but a touching one. This is dark ambient that constantly morphs and surprises the listener, both disturbing and beautiful. Comes in nice designed 6 page Ekopak.. $9.00

David E. Williams - Trust No Scaffold Built of This Bone ( Old Europa Café: OECD177)
Somebody buy this, I can't make it any cheaper! An undisputed yet controversial cult icon for over 2 decades, David E. Williams continues to expand the boundaries of dark cabaret and neofolk in ways that perpetually leave him as the ultimate outsider of both genres. As always, his 6th full length release documents the violent dread of every moment for a troubadour narrator on the nexus of existential angst and cultural despair. The new music ranges from finger-snapping ditties to chamber synthpop to his ever popular piano-driven art songs, with lead vocals by himself and other luminaries such as Andrew King, and Lloyd James (Naevus). Other participants include Jerome Deppe, David Talento, Adrina Hanson, Ken Brune and Wendy Fortin.. $4.00

Dawn & Dusk Entwined - A L'Aube des Jours Anciens ( Aube & Crepuscule: A&C05)
“A l’aube des jours anciens” is a journey through ancient and mythical lands of Europe, long before the kings and the only God. A soundtrack from mythical and magical times when no one remembers when reality became legend, when mythology met history.
The strength, the sense of epic and enthusiasm evoked by powerful and tribal influenced percussions: thunder and lightenings as drums, the genuine sound of the carnyx (the Celtic horn of war) amongst other ancient sounds, strongly sang vocals and memorable tunes give sense of this mythical evocation...
An almost physical experience, a direct link to the old heathen forces...
The music presents a fine taster of neo-classical, pounding martial, ambiant and neo-folk - and many more - that has for some years become the recognizable D&DE trademark, and defies the rigid confines of the "industrial genre"…. $8.00

Day Before Us - Nihil Interit CD ( Rage in Eden: Rage114)
Day Before Us is an ethereal and dark ambient music act formed by Philippe Blache and whose trajectory has involved working across lyrical sound poetry and scores for art events as well as film experiments. The project is notably recognized for its releases published by Rage in Eden, Twilight Records and Opn Records. The emotional content of this new album emphasizes moments of blurry sadness, intimacy, sacrality and evocativeness while the stylistical shape carries on a musical dynamic between atmospheric sound minimalism, brightly devotional then classical singing qualities, orchestrally cinematic harmonies and brooding tones.. $12.67

Deadwood - Sheolic ( Cold Spring: CSR163)
The desolate new album from Sweden’s Deadwood (aka Daniel Jansson of CULTED). Recorded 2009-2011, “Sheolic” mixes dark ambient with black Industrial and power electronics, making this the bleakest Deadwood album to date. Cold, distorted waves of nefarious electronics, putrescent vocals and dense, heavy rhythms take you to a new sub-level of despair that delivers on many plains of consciousness. Influenced by the downfall of mankind and the men and women that willingly embrace it; from religious cults to those who choose to act on their own. This is the final part of the Deadwood trilogy for Cold Spring – beginning with “8 19″ in 2005, continuing with “Ramblack” in 2008, and finishing with “Sheolic” in 2014.. $11.33

Death Pact International - Australian Units ( L-White: LW079)
“The current crop of Australia’s heavy electronics agitants fly the banner of cultural terrorism for the latest manifestation of Death Pact International. Angry, belligerent, and with a firm eye leveled at middle-class sensibilities, this current DPI manifestation features salvos from Streicher, Ebola Disco, Chrysalis, Burden of Administration, Screwtape, Michael J Ellingford, Bonsai Kitten, Die Like a God and Isomer. Sounds vary from finely constructed industrial and unsettling dark ambient, to full-blast power electronic attacks with aggressive vocals in the vein of the early DPI manifestations of the project. Recorded and assembled between 1999 and 2009, “Siege” is the audio-documentation of the activities of the cultural terrorist, multiple name entity known since the 80’s as Death Pact International, a monicker worn as a balaklava by several notorious noisemongers to undermine certanties and spread chaos through heavy electronics tracks, slogans and art-war.For this occasion sounds and words were collected by members of Thee Grey Wolves, Wertham, Con-Dom with the help of other anonymous collaborators.Power electronics / old school industrial not too dissimilar from compositions of the afore mentioned projects mixing for this occasion studio tracks along with semi-live tracks reworked in studio empowered by further sampling and multiple vocal aggression.Mastered at the Quadraro basement (Truceklan, Metal Carter, Noyz Narcos, Wertham, etc.)it was well worth the wait of so many years. DEATHSTENCH - Massed in Black Shadow ( Black Plagve: Infect11)
Debut full length from the Los Angeles based duo of Darea Plantin and John-Paul Whetzel, also known for their work in the misanthropic black-doom trio, Welter in Thy Blood.
Within their short discography, DEATHSTENCH has proven particularly adept incorporating elements of death industrial, dark ambient, doom, and black metal, and hideously transforming and molding them into a writhing mass of absolute filth and abject darkness. Built upon field recordings, scrap metal percussion, harrowing electronics, down tuned guitar & bass, and demonic vocalizations, the sound is both nihilistic and vile, rife with occult incantations, buzzing, distorted horror, and saturated walls of droning depravity that dissolve into roiling murk and hellish, blackened smear. Their latest installment, Massed in Black Shadow, is an impious communion summoning and invoking the soundtrack for all death to come. 6 tracks, totaling just over 45 minutes, guaranteed to deliver some of the most terrifying and purely misanthropic sounds you’re likely to find anywhere. “Bastards of the Black Flame” features additional sounds and effects by Cory Rowell of Demonologists, and all tracks are mastered by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Sleep, Eyehategod, Crisis).

Decondition - Sukellan Tuntemattomiin Syvyyksiin ( Nuit Et Brouillard: Force006)
DECONDITION is Arttu LAINE, a Finnish musician living in Helsinki. "Sukellan tuntemattomiin syvyyksiin" is his debut CD after a cassette released in 2006 on Freak Animal Records. Hypnotic, repetitive and grinding noise, mixing power or rhythmic electronics with resonating industrial sounds. The atmosphere is obscure, unsettling, and very personal, most of the tracks dealing with the death and the resurrection of the ego. Definitely Finnish in nature, falling somewhere between the abstract agitation of STROM.ec, the blunt aggression of Grunt, and the crushing dynamics of Sektor 304. Housed in a six-panel digipack, limited to 497 copies, naturally this comes highly recommended. A great discovery.. $11.00

Der Blutharsch - Flying High! ( WKN: WKN34)
Flying High!” with this psychedelic combat cry, one of the most eccentric and innovative projects from Austria returns. On their ninth studio album, Der Blutharsch continues travelling in the direction they took back in 2005, when the former guru of martial industrial/military pop, Albin Julius, and his band, rocketed towards the deep space of psychedelia. One of the most controversial bands of the last decade staked its claim anew, totally breaking with old images, clichés and tunes. Having already started on the last album “The Philosopher’s Stone,” the walls of guitars and repetitive chants are recognizable. Flying High! transforms this into a programmatic climax. If you start thinking Sunn O))), Guru Guru, Amon Dül, Tangerine Dream or Godspeed You! Black Emperor you are not to far away, but most of the apocalyptic feeling which you are already used to is still inherent. Highly influenced by the American west coast sound of the late sixties with small doses of that which some people used to call Krautrock. The tracks develop into each other, ambient parts followed by ecstatic deathrock songs and then they glide into a wall of sound. The guest parts on the vocal side are full of well known artists: besides Bain Wolfkind and Albin Julius or Gianni Serusi, you discover 1980s legend Patrick Leagas who celebrates the title song in his typical distinctive manner. Flying High! is a dark record, it mixes eros and deathwish, productivity with destructivity. Since the release of “When Did Wonderland End?,” Der Blutharsch have mutated into a psychedelic rock monster; their motto, “into new territories!;” their symbol for this mutation, a battle fought not by marching but by flying, “Flying High!” Flying High! is a weird trip for blown minds through the dark worlds of today’s society, passing love, hate and lust during its journey into the center of the sun! The CD comes in a stunning foil blocked digipak, painted with glow-in-the-dark ink, covered in a neatly-designed folder.. $12.00

Desiderii Marginis - Thaw ( Zoharum: Zohar073-2)
Of the Swedish wave of ambient acts from the 1990s, Desiderii Marginis is one of the few still active and definitely one of the finest of those few. Far from being a typical project in the vein of Brian Eno/Lustmord, Johan Levin, the mastermind behind Desiderii Marginis, has created and developed its own unique sonic palette merging digital and analogue: melancholic electronica with electroacoustic elements and intravenous rhythms. From the early days his music met with positive reactions resulting in albums on renowned the legendary Swedish Cold Meat Industry label, and lately also on Canadian Cyclic Law.
Over the course of 20 years, Levin released 7 full-length albums, a 3-way split and a collection of rare pre-debut demos plus numerous tracks on various compilations. His latest offering entitled "Thaw" compiles the latter and adds 3 tracks from the split "Lost Signals from Unknown Horizons". On the one hand, it is simply a collection of rare tracks, but, on the other, it may serve a purpose of a "best of" album. With the chronology unaltered, it gives you the full picture of the project and its progress. It is a history lesson of the last 20 years in sonic melancholia of Desiderii Marginis.. $12.66

Deutsch Nepal - Alcohology CD ( Entartete Musik: Entar08)
Deutsch Nepal and Lina Baby Doll is back after 5 years in the retreat of the Swedish woods with a new album - “Alcohology“. Obviously in between (or even during) the recordings there was some examination of bottles and the liquor they contained going on, the object for the album is the impact alcohol might have on people when consumed. Alcohology mainly contain slow pounding industrial music in the vein that are familiar to all Deutsch Nepal fanatics in the same way as the previous album Amygdala. Swirling mirrors of looped sounds loosely glued together with pounding or haunting beats followed with simple melodic input. The dystopian vocals present a surrealistic scenario built up inside your head while listening.
The album take off in the track Alcohology Superior which might be a praise to the misery of a meaningless life only decorated with boredom, violence and a lot of alco …and then the study of the fact of this situation - Alcohology … followed by To the Earth’s bombastic description of celestial visions that might strike one under intoxication … “and falling asleep outside the liquor store one day“ together with a hungry Python. The thoughtful statements of the gain and dangers of the consumption of alcohol continues as a theme all through the album and end with a re-recording of Erosion from the album with the same name from 1999 where the impact fluids have, not only on the human body but also on Mother Earth itself.
Though a frequent appearance on stage alone or together with others in different constellations releases from Deutsch Nepal are comparably rare. So don’t miss this chance for some fresh Deutsch Nepal released on Entartete Musikk.. $12.50

More than 900 people killed themselves on November 18th, 1978 in Jonestown, exactly the same day in which Vintras, the mind behind Djinn, was born. A date which became the symbol of the beginning and the end, of self-inflicted death. Dødsmaskin - Fullstendig Brent CD ( Malignant: TumorCD104)
The physical debut for Norway’s Dødsmaskin, Fullstendig Brent («completely burnt»; «holocaust») is a meticulously crafted effort that presents to the listener a sonic interpretation of one of the darkest chapters in Norwegian history, namely the witch trials that took place in the country's northernmost regions during the 17th century. Assembled constructs that incorporate field recordings, drones, atonal melodies and clusters of distortion and searing noise, Dødsmaskin transcends all genre classification, pushing boundaries while deftly navigating through a spectrum of post-industrial soundscapes. Tracks can and often start quietly and introspectively, then build to explosive climaxes of unbridled tension and razor sharp intensity, with dense pneumatic blasts intersecting with caustic frequencies and mechanized throb. It’s that kind of unpredictability, attention to detail, and forward-thinking craftsmanship that’ll have you thinking Kevin Drumm one minute, and Sistrenatus, STROM.ec or Propergol the next, and what makes Dødsmaskin such a vital new entry to the Malignant roster. Mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri of Black Knoll Studio, N.Y. (www.blackknollstudio.com) and presented in a 4 panel, textured digipak.. $9.67

Dronny Darko - Abduction CD ( Cryo Chamber: Cryo068)
Dronny Darko brings us a new album of dark dreams, recorded in the smoke filled Black Room studio (Kiev, Ukraine).
Dark entities roam the edge of our reality. An incomprehensible intellect observes our primitive patterns and behaviors. Vulnerable and naked, you become abducted and pulled into their domain. Examined by strange machines that hum, buzz and drip. You awaken, ankle deep in a purple fetid sludge that submerges the floor of the charcoal citadel. Alien symbols adorn the colossal doorways here, each leading into a new world. In the distance guttural clicks reverberate as they watch your trembling steps from within the shadows. Are they waiting for you to choose your fate?
This album merges the lowercase and minimal genre with a strong science fiction element. Throbbing bass layers croak and groan under the pressure of whirling machines that buzz and hum. Very dark and brooding.. $12.67

Massive deep drone builds momentum as reality cracks open to reveal the darkness of the void. The majestic "Spira Igneus" humming in a frequency long forgotten. Lunacy caught form between damp tears and unholy chants. Ancient secrets uttered between clenched teeth in tortured whimper and lingering whispers.
