Echoes of Yul - Teher ( Zoharum: Zohar061-2)
3rd full length CD for this Polish duo, though more of a collaborative remix CD than a proper long player. "Tether" contains 4 new tracks full of slow, downtuned riffs, glitches, drones, ethereal atmospheres plus a number of reinterpretations by Different State, iconAclass (MCDalek), James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate), Maciek Szymczuk, Stendek, Steve Austin (Today is the Day). All compiled to sound not like a compilation, but a stand-alone cohesive album with many unexpected twists and turns.. $11.00

Echoes of Yul - The Healing CD ( Zoharum: Zohar106)
Echoes Of Yul returns with a brand new full-length album, filled with their own vision of slow-motion music. The weight and intensity of the previous releases give way to atmospheric journey through the author's concept of sonic tracks, krautrock, dub and minimal rock. Less literal and more musically abstract - that's what the new Echoes of Yul sounds like with all their characteristic elements but exploring new territories and not repeating their previous ideas. Michal Sliwa is not trying to follow worn-out, tried and safe paths, but created a new coherent piece of work entitled "The Healing". The album is produced by Michal Sliwa and mastered by James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate). Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak.. $11.33

Ecka Liena/A Death Cinematic - Preternatural CDr ( Small Doses: Dose103)
This split release brings together two of the more underrated names working in drone. UK artists, Ekca Liena create dark, slowly unfolding, ambient landscapes tthat build in intensity over the three tracks on this disc. A Death Cinematic take a different approach, the layerered guitars swirl around each other like a hypnotic, slow-motion whirlwind. The two styles complement each other quite well. Edition of 96. Printed discs lavishly packaged in die cut sleeves with two inserts.. $5.00

Egoproblem - Exit Tape Kill ( Industrial Recollections: IR-EG01)
Norway, 1994. Lasse Marhaug has yet to start working under his own name, and Egoproblem represents an obscure, short lived project of his just before that time. The sole recordings consist of one 20 minute tape and one live performance. This CD collects that material, presenting the most straight forward industrial/power electronics works of Lasse Marhaug. In total c. 40 minutes of simple but effective works full of hard tones and metal banging. Tape/Exit/Kill comes from the original DAT tape, live recording with decayed and crude industrial-noise attack! Including liner notes by the artist.. $4.00

Eidulon - Idolatriae ( Malignant: TumorCD33)
With the release of Eidulon’s debut CD Idolatriae, we at Malignant are pleased to welcome another new project into the cozy confines of our slowly expanding roster. 7 tracks of ultra bleak, abstract atmospheres, with sounds and textures that seem to seep from catacomb walls and come slithering out of subterranean chambers. Certainly, this can be classified as a dark ambient record, but at it’s core, it’s more than just that simple classification. There’s a gritty, more jagged edge here, with tetonic shifts, deep rumblings, and crackling, climatic squalls buried under a bed of ghostly reverb and haunting tonal resonance. Fits in nicely with past Malignant releases such as R|A|A|N's 'The Nacrasti', Heid's 'Arktogaa', and even Caul's 'Crucible' CD. In elegant 6 panel digipak, with stark black and white, carefully arranged illustrations inspired by Taschism and Spatial art.. $9.00

Eldar - Nous CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD204)
Former CMI act Eldar returns with an album that marks a huge step forward, but at the same time is a continuation of the sound presented on the duo's previous album. On 'Nous' they add a very fresh and sparkling neo-pop sound to their usual neo-classic and ambient atmospheres, of course with philosophical lyrics.. $13.77

Eldar - The Secret Golden Flower ( Old Europa Café: OECD163)
Latest release from the Spanish male/female duo, known I suppose by their brief stay at Cold Meat Industry. But, that's in the past, and now we look forward with Eldar, and their new residence at Old Europa Cafe, where they've delivered a solid collection of gloomy atmospherics, that stays strong on melodies as it navigates its way through 11 tracks of varying styles, incorporating elements of rousing neo-classical, dark ambient, post-industrial, and more structured songs. Really well composed and layered music with a strong identity. Recommended. $13.66

Emit - Spectre Music of an Antiquary CD ( Crucial Blast: CBR109)
The latest album of murky graveyard ambience, deranged synth, phantasmic dread and ritualistic black drift from this cult UK outfit, their first in nearly ten years. Surrealistic, spectral music and nocturnal delirium transmitted from beyond the veil and steeped in the mysteries of old Britain, like some twisted, eldritch fusion of Fabio Frizzi, In Umbra Malitiae Ambulabo-era Abruptum, and 80’s darkwave.
First released as an extremely limited cassette on Glorious North, Spectre Music Of An Antiquary is the first new material from Emit in over five years, a full length collection of murky ambience, deranged 80's style synth, ritualistic black drift, and stranger sounds forays into black noise. This British outfit has been creating their unique brand of experimental blackened delirium since the late 90s, branching out of a low-fi UK black metal band called Ante Cryst. With Emit, the members began to explore a creepy, synth-heavy sound that was unmistakably descended from black metal but supremely more deformed, combining harsh electronic noise, horror-movie soundtrack atmospherics, droning keyboards, wrecked and fractured black metal guitars, and bizarre vocals that would often push Emit's music into a strange realm of hallucinatory, ghastly psychedelia. On their latest tape Spectre, though, Emit's sound has morphed into something that more resembles some mutated, primitive 80's darkwave being completely taken over by malevolent spirits, with eerie electronic drones and distant moaning vocals often taking over; very different from what I've heard from Emit in the past, though no less weird or phantasmagoric. And as with other Emit offerings, this is concerned more with the occult lore and hidden history of the British isles than Satanism or goat worship or any of the other over-used black metal tropes, which all serves to enhance the wraithlike vibe of these songs.. $10.00

Empusae - Rutsu No Hoyo ( Ant-Zen: Act322)
A collection of live recordings made in 2012 and 2013 delivers the intoxicating concert experience of an Empusae performance right into your home environment. Besides the project's mastermind Nicolas van Meirhaeghe, the notable musicians Tom de Doncker, Peter Bjärgö (Arcana, Sophia) and Benjamin Sperling (Jännerwein) joined the Empusae lineup for these concerts in Moscow and Utrecht. The seven tracks on this album include all aspects of the sound concept Empusae has developed over the last three years, transformed into unique live versions. A vibrant inebriation of emotive ambient, ominous electronic soundspheres, melancholic melody lines, ritualistic beats, breathy, haunting vocals and skillful guitar and piano accompaniment.. $12.99

Empusae - Sphere From the Woods CD ( Ant-Zen: Act292.2)
Since the very beginning, the addition of acoustic instruments and tribal, ritualistic influences have been an integral part of the omnipresent electronic soundscapes of Empusae. These significant aspects have also been reflected in many of this project's album titles, like f.e. 'The Hatred of Trees' and 'organic.aural.ornaments'. For his present work, Nicolas van Meirhaeghe's influences were mainly centered around nature - woods, forests and trees, as well as paintings by his artist friend Christel Morvan (nesisart), who created the main theme for the album's artwork. Empusae has the talent and the gift to turn all these disparate artifacts into a mature piece of sound. 'Sphere from the Woods' is the perfect fusion of natural, organic elements and advanced electronics. It blends a huge variety of acoustic sources, ranging from synthesizers, processed field recordings, ethnical percussions and guitars to quite unusual acoustic instruments like psaltery, chains, plates and several kinds of wood. Orchestral arrangements combined with touching melody lines and precisely set rhythmic syncopation generate an enthralling amalgam of atmospheric ambiance and cinematic elements with a deep ceremonious flow. If a more focused description of Empusae's musical self-image is needed, then you need nothing more that the word 'organic', and 'Sphere from the Woods' is the release where this concept locks in in the most perfect way. Wood has long been used as an artistic medium - this album develops a very new and exciting aspect for manipulating and moulding this structural tissue.. $12.67

Enmarta - The Hermit CD ( Cryo Chamber: Cryo050)
Enmarta returns with his second album on Cryo Chamber, The Hermit. Dusting off his Viola he tackles the dark ambient genre with a great deal of string works. Thick fog rolls in over majestic mountains as The Hermit reads his dusty books. The cold wind knocking on the rusted gate, begging the soaring tower for attention. A lingering smell of burnt oil from agitated torches left standing til dawns first light.
Layering drone, field recordings and acoustic instrumentation, Enmarta has created something unique. Invoking an ancient era where time is stagnant and where secret wisdom stays locked away from the masses prying eyes.. $12.67

Equimanthorn - A Fifth Conjuration CD ( Zazen Sounds: ZZS011)
In the past decade, Equimanthorn has manifested as a wayward project commanding the participation of other prominent occult-minded musicians. Through experimental and droned ceremonial oblations, Equimanthorn expresses anguish and treacherous lust without ever forgetting the ironic twist that endures in their craft.
Equimanthorn is a project that exceeds the limits of a category for their style of occult-ambient music. The elements, in which are used, might be labeled as ritualistic, mysterious, exquisite yet haunting to name a few. This is the ultimate soundtrack dedicated to Sumerian fables, featuring members from Absu, Zemial, Melechesh and The Soil Bleeds Black!. $12.33

Erde - Bose Zeit ( Steinklang: Sk83)
Very well produced and composed martial/neofolk bands from this ex-member of Svalbard, here supported by other great Eastern European Neofolk musicians, Moon Far Away, Majdanek Waltz, Pragnavit, Sevast, A.Y.F. and others…
Bose Zeit is their most bombastic and intense album to date...layered, emotive, and richly detailed music I'd hesitate to classify as neo-folk, because that's a real simplification of what they're doing. This has an underlying orchestral and cinematic feel, but it's perfectly blended with Eastern European instrumentation and dark yet beautiful melodies. Excellent.. $8.00

Exit in Grey - Hysterics of the Eternal CD ( Zhelezobeton: ZHB-LXIV)
Radiowaves rustle, layers of ether interference whisper and an electric guitar carefully draws gentle tonal vibrations… The new album by Exit In Grey is indeed largely based on sounds of radio noises, so close to our heart. Although of course this is not a noisy work but rather oneiric, contemplative, shimmering… In two multilayered 20-min long collages we can hear the elements of nature and man-made objects, fragments of random radio interceptions and melancholic guitar parts piercing dark space with its bright emotionality.
The material was recorded by Sergey [S] in March 2011 and mastered by Oleg Hurvatov (Interior Disposition) in 2016. The disc is released in cooperation with the Frozen Light label in an edition of 300 numbe. $11.66
