Fahl - The Halls of the Dead ( Lichterklang: LK023)
FAHL was founded by Dimo Dimov, Marcel P. and Cornelius Waldner in autumn 2008. All members have been active in several Dark Folk, Neoclassic and Black Metal–projects for some time, among them :werra:, Von Thronstahl, Allerseelen, Sagittarius, Miel Noir or Svarrogh (just to name a few.) Four years after their debut „Paths To Emptiness“, Fahl’s second album „The Halls OF The Dead“ is not just a compendium of songs lyrically influenced by the „Mahabarata“, Stefan George, Ludwig Fahrenkrog, Carlo Michelstaedter and Hermann Graf Keyserling, but musicalwise the consequent continuation of what has been started four years ago. „The Halls Of The Dead“ is a dark opus of 13 occult ambient tracks that’ll haunt the listeners by it’s lyrical and musical depth and sincerity. „The Halls Of The Dead“ for sure is not an album for the fainthearted listener.
The artwork fort he album was done by well-known foto-artist Laetitia Mantis, being a long time friend with the band and it’s members, putting even more emphasis on the occult character of Fahl.. $6.00

Falkenstein - Kraftort ( Heimatfolk: HF08)
Falkenstein is a young oaktree in the fairywoods of new Pagan Folk Music. Born out of the mystic natureand ancient cult-places of southern Germany, Falkenstein guides you gently to your heathen ancestors and their naturalreligion. Falkenstein's music is classical NeoFolk in best tradition, with beautiful lyrics about hallowed trees and woods, ancient tales from veiled times and long forgotten natural rites. Falkenstein is definitely a unique and outstanding NeoFolkartist of the new generation, who knows how to play his instruments and who's lyrics directly creep under the skin of eachPagan and Folk Music lover.Kraftort is the third album of Falkenstein, this time with a fresh progressive/psychedelic touch. The main theme of thealbum are our ancestors and the destiny of the ancient and veiled cult places. As a contrast to the mythological essenceand the nature-mystical heathen lyrics you can find on this album a progressive apocalyptical song - a somber vision ofthe future, that puts ourselves as ancestors for the coming ages and therefore a reflection upon us. How we will letnature and Midgard to our descendants? At the end will be the beginning!. $7.00

False Mirror - Derelict World ( Malignant: TumorCD47)
In the beginning it looked like an ordinary storm...
After three years of intense work, Dark Ambient disciple False Mirror returns with his third full-length journey, aptly entitled "Derelict World".
With the timeless drones of his debut "Chronostatic Scenes" and the icy soundscapes on his highly acclaimed sophomore masterpiece "North" still resonating through space, solo artist Tobias Hornberger delivers "Derelict World", his most massive and epic undertaking so far.
As its two brooding predecessors, also his third work of masterfully crafted Ambient has become a monumental alliance of dark drones, frostbitten soundscapes and warm vibrating tones from the deep bowels of the earth.Famous for his skilled use of field recordings from an extrem ely diversified range (some of the recordings stem from an old monastery, the medieval city of Ulm or the Arabian sea) and for his ability to cloak the superior forces of nature into menacing, yet beautifully devised sounds, "Derelict World" also offers a truly apocalyptic concept that blends perfectly with the dense wall of sound on this mysterious Ambient challenge: Nothing less than the end of humanity, brought upon this world by the relentless forces of nature forms the basis on which the resonating and thundering tracks develop into chimaeras of terrible momentum, ever-changing and ever-increasing their dramatic potential.
Devised with sophisticated software he solely created for composing this album, False Mirror easily evokes elemental feelings like sublimity, fear or trepidation - culminating in an impending sense of doom that never leaves the listener and brings to life the destructive side of nature that surrounds us every day.
From the sheer force of a tornado set loose to the beguiling calm within the eye of the storm, "Derelict World" is a 74 minute long sonic journey into a desolated, depopulated world.
A 20 page booklet with a conceptually linked short story written by author and journalist Bjørn Springorum accompanies the release. The album is moreover equipped with a number of hidden messages that lead to a rewarding "Bonus World" on falsemirror.de.
... and the rest was silence.
"...One of the best dark ambient releases in recent years". 9.5/10 Orkus Magazine
"The False Mirror album is one of the best CDs I've ever listened to!" M. Sturtzer, Phelios.. $10.00

Feine Trinkers Bei Pinkels Daheim. - A Bug's Life CD ( Zoharum: Zohar114)
Celebrating 25 years of artistic activity, "A Bug's Life" is the tenth full-length album in the discography of Feine Trinkers Bei Pinkels Daheim. It was created, like the previous albums, overr several years and is another conscious artistic statement. Seven compositions included here are of a collage nature and combine echoes of post-industrial ambient, drone music, musique concrete, field recordings and even plunderphonics. Jürgen Eberhard consciously continues his sonic quest on a depleted terrain and he manages to avoid traps of empty experiments. "A Bug's Life" is at the same time an atmospheric, and even accessible, album, and sonically elaborate and demanding of the listener. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak.. $11.33

Femeheim - Dominium Terrae ( Death Continues: DCRCD006)
2nd CD from this Belgian death industrial outfit. Singular frequency modulations, cold, noxious tones, and sickly pulsations that reek of illness and anguish. Vocals are great too - flanged and deprived, falling somewhere between the Grey Wolves and early Genocide Organ. Excellent stuff yet again.. $12.33

Femeheim - Egofanal CD ( Death Continues: DCRCD10)
Third album from Berlin's Death Industrial / Power Electronics act Femeheim. "Total early BDN / CMI / Slaughter Prod. death industrial worship going on here, with cold, noxious tones and ultra bleak frequencies that waft from a pit of misery and hopelessness. At times minimal and singular, other times more pulsating, antagonistic and heavy... brings back good memories and fills a niche that hasn't existed for sometime...". $12.00

First Human Ferro - Heterodox CD ( Old Captain: OCCD17)
Old Captain's owner, Olegh Kolyada, fights the sea and presents his Lost Generation victory in defeat. "Heterodox" is a dark ambient album born of the sound and the fury with heroes lonely and mad. A sparse, straightforward yet emotionally vigorous record with its own interior monologue, a discourse to be a silent interlocutor to. Restraining the interior the musician offers the nature symbolism via modular synthesizers and analogue junk approach to scatter one's ego worldwide for good. Full of elemental primitiveness the heretic in his destructive folly challenges to claim a nihilistic vision of reality to engage the listener into an ever-present absurd. A 200-CD edition in a classical glossy Digipak. A co-prod of Old Captain and Gradual Hate Records.. $11.67

First Law - Chaos Structures ( LOKI: LOKI43)
The 5th full-time album of First Law surprises once again with a huge amount of stylistic variety, proving that he is the ultimate cosmonaut of the inner spheres. "Chaos Structure" is a hallucinogenicc maelstrom, every note and sound tells a different story and guides the listener to a journey through unseen areas of modulation and alienated reality, where time stands still. The hieroglyphic soundforms are structuring an audible world of an acoustic language. All compositions are cautiously built to create a majestic flowing of a soundworld full of structures and outstanding melodies layered with percussion tracks. FIR§T LAW's music implicates inner spheres to build a new vision of a structured chaos with very intense and irresistible sounds. The complete release melts into an organic, symbiotic ensemble and the world is shivering from beyond - aural innovation at it's best! Stunning. $12.67

First Law - Refusal As Attitude ( LOKI: LOKI31)
With the third CD First Law presents once again an outstanding sound journey into the Inner Cinema. Hypnotic, complex and dynamic this is full of textured, liquidous atmospheres and spacey, drugged ambience, fully enriched by a kaleidoscope psychedelic effects and slow, precise rhythms. Continues in the overall vein of Velochrome, but this seems to have added depth and layers, and sucks you in like a warm, enveloping vortex. Really brilliant, and together with Bad Sector’s Ampos and Squaremeters ‘The Bitter End’ completes a recent trifecta of high quality, spacey drone music you’'d be hard pressed to match.. $13.50

First Law - Terrorforming ( LOKI: LOKI49)
The 6th full-length album of FIRST LAW sets real moments of artificial and creative substance. Intermittent bass, analogue modulations, and percussive elements mix with blossoming textures and celestial atmospheres wrapped in a warm, hallucinatory, drugged embrace, and driven by a pulsating, rhythmic underbelly. Conceptually don't get it wrong, this album is not about religious airheads getting their way. This is not about the threat terrorist attacks impose on any of us, nor has it the intention to proliferate violence as a viable way to change the status quo. At the least, as long your opinion stands against the opinion of the majority, you are pretty much out of luck. No, this album is aboutleverage; it is about deception and opportunity, by accident or by design; it is about resignation and self-delusion; but most of all, this album is about fear.. $13.77

First Law - Velochrome ( LOKI: LOKI27)
2nd full length CD from First Law and easily, easily the best work to date. A continuation of the Velochrome recordings that have been started with the Saturn Gnosis contribution of First Law. Whispering, glassy textures and cosmic ambience with underlying, grandiose symphonic elements. Truly hypnotic and at times beautifully surreal, unravelling and evolving in drugged, liquidous patterns, layers of complexity adding to the already foggy haze that permeates the disc. Took a few spins to grow accustomed to it, but maybe because it's so different than what I was expecting.. $12.67

Fjernlys - Ascending Triads and Luminous Arcs 2CD ( LOKI: LOKI42)
Debut of this project from Knut Enderlein of Inade fame! Don't, however, expect this to sound like Inade -it doesn''. In fact, a more fair comparison would probably be First Law (and maybe even a bit of Predominance), though really, this is a project whose sound is it's own. Nuanced and at times even relaxing, not necessarily dark, but certainly downbeat and sober, Fjernlys explores cosmic realms and crosses into astral plains, but is grounded by an esoteric ritual and occult flavor. Fjernlys' attitude to music remains unfettered by stylistic frames and the album targets the style-encompassing essence of sounds. The second CD features five remixes and interpretations from Antlers Mum, Bad Sector, First Law, and Lovespell, which support the complex character of the whole release and expand the border to a new style of ambient songs. $17.33

Fjernlys - Beyond the Undulant Quiescence ( LOKI: LOKI51)
Latest release from Knut Enderlein of Inade fame. 10 captivating and complex compositions, full of tranquil melodies and melancholy, ethereal synthesizer sequences. Moves at a rather relaxing, hypnotic, and dreamy pace, really straddling the line between carefully crafted, well structured songs and flowing, cosmic influenced ambient. As corny as it sounds, whenever I listen to to Fjernlys, I always think of a stream of crystal blue water gently drifting through an otherwise brightly lit, all white, completely stark and vacant room. For fans of First Law, Llovespell, and of course, previous Fjernlys releases!. $12.67

Fjernlys - Four (One Unearthly Room) 2CD ( LOKI: LOKI63)
Five years after the last full-time album of Fjernlys, the Leipzig based outfit returns with new recordings.Fjernlys' attention to detail is typically exquisite here: the looped bowing of a cello provides a droning bassline beneath pitch-bent chimes and melodic pads. Clear homogenic sounds creeping deep organic rhythms with lovely effects have been incorporated in a poetic ambiance guided by brilliant vocals. A collaboration with Peter Bjargo on vocals for The Fervid Flood intoning a new and inspiring way of recordings and production. FOUR appears to have abandoned tracks that aim to move bodies in favour of ambient songs that aim to move hearts. Atmospheric and sensitive Ambientsongs with accented percussion elements, vibraphone sounds and viola supplements to set the electronic soundscapes into wonderfully concentrated and organic pieces. Swimming beneath Fjernlys' ambient arrangements is a primordial cosmos of sonics: the falling of rain outside a window, the tumble of unknown random oscillations, a whirl of ebow guitars. The hustle and bustle of these sounds ground the grandiose orchestration on the record and give it an abstract sense of the transcendental space. On the second CD are remixes of 4 tracks from the album, revisited by Kammarheit, Peter Bjargo, S.E.T.I. and Herbst9. Every single interpretation these artists made completes the puzzle of this release to its entire form of One Unearthly Room.. $14.67

Flint Glass & Collapsar - Deus Irae CD ( Ant-Zen: Act320)
'In the years following world war III, a new and powerful faith has arisen from a scorched and poisoned earth, a faith that embraces the architect of world wide devastation....'
Flint Glass is the Paris-based one man project of Gwenn Trémorin, formed in 1999, which has been described by critics as one of the most innovative artists within electronica, industrial and dark ambient. Inspired by fantastic and dystopian literature and influenced by 90's ambient as well as various forms of idm, tribal, industrial rhythmic noise and experimental, his music tends to crawl under your skin, shapes the most fantastic images, and keeps challenging you by means of an intelligent use of samples, rhythms and beats. All through his artistic history Gwenn set a high value on collaborations with befriended artists, including this album which was conjointly developed together with Collapsar, a dark space ambient solo project from Strasbourg, formed by Thibaud Thaunay who gained great attention with his debut release on Malignant Records.
'Deus Irae' ('God of wrath') characterizes a mystical sensory journey into the depths of a post apocalyptic world, inspired by Philip K. Dick & Roger Zelazny's science fiction novel of the same title. Across an imaginary nightmarish landscape as described in this novel, Flint Glass and Collapsar join their force to create evocative, cinematic music which is suitable for discrete listening at home, and which might be also perfectly fit as a score to a yet unwritten video game. Dark synth tones are deployed with an innate sense of dramatic, leading the listener through widescreen narratives of terrifying scope. Dystopian futuristic soundscapes and elaborated rhythmic textures meet cataclysmic drones, epic melodic themes and arcane voice samples.
This ficticious journey, separated in two parts, lasts for more than forty minutes and is perfected by alternative aural 'script variations' by Spherical Disrupted, Hologram_, Sylvgheist Maëlström, Ah Cama-Sotz and Iszoloscope. be invited to join a parallel world of suspense, mystery, and faith.. $13.33

Flowers For Bodysnatchers - Love Like Blood CD ( Cryo Chamber: Cryo044)
Love Like Blood serves as a companion piece to Flowers for Bodysnatchers seminal Dark Ambient album Aokigahara. In this album we explore the haunted tale of despair of love lost, found and lost again. Our protagonists journey from the previous album is a shadowy narrative walking hand in hand with the fatal attraction that is Aokigahara.
The album revisits the lonely intricate piano movements, soundscapes and field recordings compiled while exploring the underworld that is Tokyo. Exploring a metropolis and an individual constantly in a state of decay and rebirth. As is Love Like Blood.. $12.67

Foetus Dreams - Brouillard ( Winter-Light: Win001)
From start to finish "Brouillard" is a real ambient journey; sometimes an introspective one, sometimes a glance from the inside looking out and far beyond the reach of the human eye. The tracks are beautifully sculpted pieces of ambient excellence and from the opening moments of the first you are transported into the world of"FoetusDreams". Rich drones resonate across starkly crafted, ice-cold landscapes where your only companions are the sounds that flow around you. Vibrant musical layers, occasionally punctuated with a clever use of samples, draw the listener ever further away from reality towards a deeper, more meaningful sense of self. You could easily be standing on the edge of the universe looking out, or traversing the caverns of your own mind in a search for that place of inner peace. The title track"Brouillard" is a master class in drone ambient with its ever present trance inducing hum that lowers a mist over the eyes and takes you to a very dark place indeed.. $11.66

Folkstorm - Folkmusik ( Old Europa Café: OECD076)
Folkstorm refuses to stay dead, and has once again risen from the grave to wage war on the world ! "Folkmusik" is very much classic Folkstorm, with its roots firmly placed in the old-school industrial style…harsh and uncompromising and full of caustic atmospheres, lurching rhythms and ominous tension, but with a darker edge this time, perhaps remiscent more of MZ.412 than Folkstorm (just check out the rolling, ritual style percussion on track two as proof). As ever from the explorative Folkstorm this is mandatory for all fans of pure-old school industrial nihilism. Presented in customary militant digipak. $14.75

Frakmundt - Heiwehland ( Percht: Perch19)
After more than one year Frakmundt are back with their new masterpiece „Heiwehland“ ( “Land of Nostalgia“). Sixteen unique, expressive and headstrong songs grant the listener a passionate glimpse into the alpine areas of Inner-Switzerland. On “Heiwehland”, accordion, guitars, hurdy-gurdy, bass, flutes, and the percussion contributed by Merlin (Eluveitie) blend together to form the unique and unconventional Swiss Ur-Folk. A primordial male voice and spoken passages contrast with the powerful voice of Anneli. Furthermore Chrigel Glanzmann (Eluveitie) and the renowned opera singer Christiane Boesiger contribute their guest vocals on two of the songs. New guitarist Guschti enriches the album with his string virtuosity. The varied songs in Swiss Alemannic dialect take you to a more than one hour long journey into the heart of the alps. They speak of historic events, tragic tales, frightening creatures, strange events, mysterious beings and the melancholic longing for a beautiful homeland that is disappearing in its original form but also about its outlasting beauty. As on the previous album “Urbärglieder”, traditional songs are reinterpreted and of course the comical and humorous elements have their place.
This extensive digipak contains a twenty-page booklet full of breathtaking alpine photography and includes all the lyrics in Swiss Alemannic dialect as well as their description in english.. $7.00

Funerary Call - Fragments From the Aethyr ( Crucial Blast: CBR100)
Fragments From the Aethyr presents a triptych of long, sprawling pieces that descend through dark layers of cinematic sonic horror. Violin-led passages of pitch-black, dissonant chamber music are backed by booming kettledrums, traces of modern music composition and the rotting exhalations of the dead; blasts of crushing, shapeless doom thunder in the deep, sending tremors of doom-laden drone-metal rumbling through the strata of Funerary Call’s demonic industrial nightmares. The sound of Fragments sometimes resembles a Bela Bartok piece drifting through a fog of black-mass ambience and the murmurings of the long dead, the sound imbued with a deep, ominous feel but also glowing with a mysterious and dark beauty as it builds to a crescendo of black majestic power, as on the nearly twenty-minute centerpiece “Fragments.”. $10.00

Funerary Call - Nightside Emanations ( Malignant: TumorCD55)
First created in 1994, Funerary Call has established itself as one of the premier purveyors of archaic black atmospheres. With Nightside Emanations, Funerary Call presents his most organic and purely ritual experiences...8 tracks that spiral into darkness, led by the ceremonial fire rite of the opening track, then descending into even blacker, more ominous realms as the CD progresses. Extended pieces of opaque ambience are augmented by slow, foreboding, tribal percussion and sedated vocal incantations, full of ancient mysticism and creeping miasma. Material used in the recording process ranged from found objects such as rocks, scrap metal, antlers and bones, to an assortment of ritual implements; chimes, bells, gongs, rattles and kangling. The result is unequivocally one of the darkest releases you'll find under the Malignant banner and one of the more focused and complete recordings from Funerary Call. Funerary Call - The Mirror Reversed II CD ( Cyclic Law: 77th Cycle)
The spectral second and final instalment of Funerary Call’s “The Mirror Reversed” tumbles deeper through the Setian tunnels, leading the way to the vast and mysterious Other Side. Continuing from where his initial movement left us, Harlow MacFarlane once again summons the tones and auras of his Qliphothic interpretation. It is a serpentine force extending from a churning black vortex lined with crystalline fetters. A dark and textured voyage through the shards of the shattered black surface that once reflected the illusory. The 46-minute meditation ebbs and flows through ambient pulsations of fear, awakening, and the unknowable. Each segmented chapter is a dynamic representation of the individual demonic forces at work, bringing us closer to the roiling waters of formlessness. The forbidden freedom of the Other Side awaits.
