Sabled Sun - 2145 ( Old Europa Café: OECD161)
The latest endeavor from Atrium Carceri honcho Simon Heath, this time under his alias Sabled Sun. The distinction between Atrium and Sabled Sun is slightly vague, but noticeable, with Sabled Sun incorporating a narrative, post-apocalyptic storyline to accompany the richly detailed dark ambience and cinematic atmospheres he's known for creating. Sacher Pelz - In Hoc Urbia Miazi ( Old Europa Café: OECD090)
Very few are aware of the beginning of Maurizio Bianchi's adventures. Before starting the complex and compelling production of many records and tapes in the early eighties under the M.B. trademark, Maurizio Bianchi was documenting the new music scene writing essays and reviews for independent magazines. It was August 1979 in Milan, Italy and his sound was strengthening when he felt the time had come to prove his desire for something new. So he started his first solo project, under the name Sacher-pelz. 28 years later, SP is back, though stylistically, his sound has remained firmly rooted in the late ‘70’s-early ‘80s experimental era….a blur of tonal exploration, hissing white noise and minimalistic drones, with strange vocals that barely make it into the audible spectrum. MB calls this a 'clotted' sound, which somehow sounds fitting. Man, really challenging material, though will find appeal to fans of the early Come Organisation releases. Reminds me a lot of ChopShop, for those that remember that late ‘80s project.. $14.25

Sagittarius - The Kingdom Come ( Cold Spring: CSR152)
Recorded between 2008 and 2011 and influenced by the intellectual world of the German poet Stefan George, "The Kingdom Come" contains 18 songs with a playing time of 65 minutes. With Sagittarius now grown to a full four piece line-up featuring new members Herr Twiggs (Kammer Sieben) on vocals and Theresia W. on oboe, and once again assisted by a number of highly gifted guest musicians, including sG (Secrets Of The Moon), Dev (While Angels Watch) and Josef K. (Von Thronstahl), Sagittarius has managed to conceive a unique and outstanding album in the tradition of the classic European Art Song, blending sophisticated neoclassical compositions with a touch of suicidal folk noir.. $12.66

Sala Delle Colonne - Il Destino della Orchestra Aurora ( Old Europa Café: OECD166)
Limited edition of strictly 300 copies! In his symbolic title already declines his strong intentions, with the word “Destino” that can be translated either with "Destiny" or with "Doom". We can read it as "The Destiny of Aurora Orchestra", when on Sept. 8, 1943, during the Second World War, the musicians were divided (someone followed the fascist Republic of Salò, others went with the Partisans), to symbolize and remember the tragedy of separation in Italy that followed the end of fascism and the outbreak of civil war that put brothers against brothers. And we can listen to it as "The Doom of Aurora Orchestra", following the neoclassical martial orchestration in doom key adopted by Sala delle Colonne on some tracks, an "orchestral doom" like the evolution of the style used on the previous album “XX A.D” (Cold Meat Industry). Another great leap in quality and innovation of this eclectic Italian artist, by now well known even outside the neoclassical / martial world in which it was - so far - located.. $14.33

Sala Delle Colonne - XX.A.D. ( Cold Meat Industry: CMI208)
In the gray Italian province of Alessandria lives the multi-talented MEHMET R. FRUGIS, also known for his project MEKHATE - 35 GRAMS. In 2006, the project SALA DELLE COLONNE was born with a CD on the American label, Autumn Wind Production.
For this new album, XX A.D., Mehmet R. Frugis completely changed musical references, taking inspiration from the majestic elements of classical compositions by Wagner, Sibelius and Mahler. And, by collaborating with the "Orchestra Aurora", his artistic output shifted to a contemporary style that embraces and integrates electronic sounds and samples. The result is a masterpiece of Neoclassical Martial music.. $15.77

Sangre Cavallum - Patria Granitica ( Ahnstern: Ahnstern18)
"Pátria Granítica” - Granite Fatherland - is the long awaited new album from the northern Portuguese Sangre Cavallum. The album contains ten powerful songs combining heroic traditional music and beautiful Folk-ballads, sometimes even with a slight avantgarde touch. The artists perfectly play a large variety of early traditional instruments, blended with electrical sounds and mesmerizing psychedelic arrangements. “Pátria Granítica” is a pagan journey into the world of stones of their historical homeland Callæcia and its gods, giving voice to the traditional heritage of granite warriors. Their first album "Barbara Carmina" was released on Michael Moynihan's (Blood Axis) label Storm. $8.00

Satanismo Calibro 9 - Isis Rising ( Old Europa Café: OECD168)

Satanismo Calibro 9 - Orgasmurder ( Old Europa Café: OECD141B)
First full length, non CDr project from this Italy based, black industrial project, who create some infernal, highly atmospheric and occult soundscapes, full of cryptic and obscured noises, grim, textural swirl, and some ritual stylings that ramp up the creep factor nicely. Doesn't necessarily sound like any of them, but this does fit the same niche as say a Steel Hook Prostheses, MZ.412, Defiler. etc. $14.33

Originally released in 1997 on CD by Tegal Records (Ltd x 1000) and LP by Artware Productions, Germany (Ltd x 1000), all of the original subject matter has been taken to a new level with this digital recording from the analogue sources. Sect - Auctoritas ( Rage in Eden: Rage84)
Latest material by the Polish project Sect, backed up by Lukasz Maj. Powerful and orchestral instrumentation, which Sect is famous for, enriched by Lukasz with new accents that have made Sect’s music ascend to a level higher. Pure neo-classical that's stirring and dramatic, though not necessarily heavy like a Sophia or Karjalan Sissit. This is more strings and brass than percussion, and at times, crosses into a sort of manic, stylized formation, almost in the Gae Bolg mold.. $14.33

Seelenthron/Traum'er Leben/Trinithos - III ( Heimatfolk: Heimat02)
"III" is a 3-way split album by the classic German NeoFolk bands Seelenthron, Traumer'er Leben and Trinithos. On this album each band interprets their favourite songs by the other 2 bands + one own new song by each artist. The finale of "III" is a bonus track by Alexander Meier (Seelenthron) - a fantastic, neoclassical coverversion of a Soulsearch/Sturmpercht song. The 3 bands are well known and highly recommended in the German NeoFolk scene, as they are all fantastic musicians and great live-artists. Seelenthron and Traum'er Leben have already released several outstanding albums, but for Trinithos "III"marks their official debut after some very limited CDR releases.. $11.50

Sektor 304 - Soul Cleansing ( Malignant: TumorCD43)
Equipped with a frightening and impressive array of primitive instrumentation pulled from junkyards and scrap metal heaps, this Portuguese outfit has delivered an astounding formal debut – a heady mixture of truly old school industrial in the vein of Einsturzende Neubauten, Test Dept , and S.P.K , and the grinding, bass heavy dirge of vintage Swans and Godflesh . These are anthems to the past, but geared towards an apocalyptic and bleak future… a form of counter-culture using what is most evident in modern western society: the debris, the abandoned objects, the waste, the noise, and the interference.
With a solid foundation of rusty, oil drenched percussion, Sektor 304 adds layer upon layer of squalling industrial clangor, hammering metallic noise, grimy atmospheres, heaving masses of haunted factory drones, and threatening tribal batter, with a strong and commanding vocal presence. The sound here is almost physical in nature – provocative, persistent, and demanding. No one is doing what Sektor 304 is doing right now. Anyone into TRUE industrial (and that includes not just the aformentioned old guard, but also things like Strom.ec , Militia, Negru Voda , and Knifeladder ) really should not miss out.In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Steel Hook Audio.. $11.00

Sektor 304 - Subliminal Actions ( Malignant: TumorCD53)
The follow-up to the highly acclaimed Soul Cleansing CD finds Portugals Sektor 304 expanding on all aspects of their debut, once again channeling the essence of the old school guardians (Test Dept, SPK, Crash Worship), while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory.
Comparatively speaking, Subliminal Actions is a more complete and focused album, with an even better flow than Soul Cleansing and more attention paid to detail, unleashing a cacophonic whirlwind of buzz saw grind, loops, power tools, and scraping, junk metal debris, clashing head on with exertive tribal percussion, clanging oil barrel rhythms, and industrial clamor resonating over a sprawling, post- apocalyptic wasteland. Some tracks, such as the opener, “A Carving on Metallic Flesh”, heap on the scorching noise, while others, such as the resounding, rhythmic driven “By The Throat”, “A Vessel of Guilt”, or “Vultures” are delivered with factory-line precision, laced with grimy layers of bass-heavy dirge, bleak, reverbed squall, and distortion filled, atmospheric drone. Among the many highlights, is the albums closer, “A Prismatic Sun”, a 10 + minute epic excursion into a nightmarish world, populated by whispered vocals and uneasy drift that slowly rises and grows in intensity, climaxing into a blissfully dark and sweaty orgy of low slung bass, ominous, ceremonial drumming, and suffocating darkness.
Subliminal Action not only compliments Soul Cleansing, but takes the Sektor 304 sound to new heights, delivering yet striking record sure to solidify their standing as one of premier, truly industrial acts in operation today.

Sewer Goddess - Disciples of Shit: Live Waste ( Black Plagve: Infect08)
Having sold out of last year’s With Dirt You Are One CD within a few months span, supreme, Boston based cultists Sewer Goddess return to Black Plagve with Disciples of Shit: Live Waste, a fetid and raw collection of live audio crimes committed over a two year period from 2009-2010. Anyone who has witnessed Sewer Goddess live will generally know what to expect here, which is a more structured take on the death industrial, squalor filled atmospheres they’re known for. Shibalba - Memphitic Invocations CDEP ( Nihil Market: Naught09)
Dark ambient side project from Greek black metallers Acherontas, inspired by ancient Egyptian culture. Shinjuku Thief - Medea ( Dorobo: Dorobo018)
While the Witch Triolgy were certainly benchmark releases , free from the thematic restrictions of those releases, Shinjuku Thief really hits the mark here, with what may just be their best work ever. The palate has been expanded, the noise comes in, the drama hits new heights, and the sheer power and beauty is beyond belief. Originally composed for a controversial staging of the classic greek tragedy, "medea" is Shinjuku Thief's most dramatic, dynamic and sinister work to date. Notwithstanding its extreme violence, it might also be one of their most beautiful. Fragile melodies sung by boy sopranos float above demonic choirs and malevolent orchestras only to be ripped apart by screaming sheets of industrial noise. Oscillating between lush musical seduction and a level of brutality as yet unprecedented across the band's backcatalog, "medea" will appeal to fans running the gambit of Dead Can Dance, Raison D'etre and In Slaughter Natives in one corner to Merzbow, and Brighter Death now in the other. Just plain great.. $9.00

Shinjuku Thief - The Witch Haven ( Dorobo: Dorobo17)
In 1993 Shinjuku Thief released "The Witch Hammer" - a soundtrack to a dark orchestral world brimming with sinister intent and kinetic malevolence. "The Witch Hunter" (1995) continued the journey, threading surreal gypsy-like fringes to the classical/gothic blend. The tripartite structure of "The Malleus Malleficarum" (the inquisitor's handbook, on which the albums were based) suggested an imminent close to the trilogy. Blending the lush sweep of Raison D'etre, the epic grandeur of In Slaughter Natives" and a surreal violence to his sound design closer in places to musique concrete than dark ambience, Shinjuku Thief delivers on all counts.. $9.00

Sigma Octantis - Invocations ( Divine Comedy: DC046)
Invocations is an outstanding recording with industrial edges, a fine mix of new wave, Tribal rhythms, rock guitars and melodic synths. The cinematic and dark atmosphere creates pictures of a modern tale of occult mysteries, but also leads you through times of the past were men worshiped the sun and the constellations. The music can easily be compared to Morthound. Sigma Octantis does not make any secret of being inspired by this classic Cold Meat act as they even have a track called Spindrift. There are also influences to be heard from other great Cold Meat acts such as Sephiroth and Deutsch Nepal, but there is enough own input in their music. Invocation can be considered an ambient or ritual album but there are also tracks that are more up-tempo like their opening track “Contre L’horizon”. This is a bombastic and swinging track to compare with Rosa Crux, may be this is because of the sound of the guitar and the structure of the song as well. This guitar sound is often to be heard on this album and is a beautiful complementation to the atmosphere of the music. Other songs like “Possibilités du Dialogue” are slow and more towards ambient but it always is melodic with a certain song structure. It is this quality that makes this album also attractive for those who are not particular into ambient or ritual music. “Spindrift” is a great track somewhere between “Canalizer” by Morthound and “Benovelence” by Deutsch Nepal. And lets be honest, there are worse things to be compared with. Gothtronic.com. $14.75

Simon Kolle - Res Dej Inte! ( Neuropa: NRP24)
An original motion picture soundtrack composed by Simon Kolle of Abnocto and Za Frumi fame, who of course was already making some pretty suberb cinematic music as is, just not offically part of a soundtrack like this is. According to the press release, the film is a dark, realistic story, following three youth gangs, their lives, and their time spent on the streets. Over a relatively short span the characters deal with paranoia, pain, violence and more. The film is powerful and grim, with the last scenes totally unforgettable. The plot comes to a sudden end and there are no truths about what really happened. More than a film, Res dej inte! is a comment about the ongoing violence in society. Suitably, the music is dark suspenseful, broken up into short segments and spanning a broad array of sounds. Mostly though this is heavily atmospheric and ambient, with occasional outbursts of a more violent and dramatic nature, as you might expect based on the plot. As it draws to an end, there's a series of rather structured, folky songs that I assume are important to the plot, though they're slightly out of place here. Easy to overlook in an otherwise strong piece of work.. $6.00

Skin Area - Rothko Field ( Malignant: TumorCD52)
3rd full length release from this acclaimed Martin Bladh (IRM) project(in conjunction with Magnus Lindh), following 2002's New Skin CD and 2006's double CD Journal Noir/Lithium Path, both on Cold Meat Industry.
Like previous works, Rothko Field is a highly charged and visceral auditory experience...mind bending and turbulent sonic explorations that are grainy and tense, where uneasy frequencies intersect with caustic drones, infected, insectile buzz, swelling drifts, and intense, slow motion percussion driven sludgery. Further comparison reveals Rothko Field to be less schizophrenic, less challenging, and more structured than in the past, coming off as both spacious and yet suffocatingly claustrophobic (and ultimately closer in style to IRM), suggestive of a spiral downwards into mental decay and degradation, and further enhanced by Martin's uniquely distressed and provocative vocalizations.
9 tracks total, broken into two "mirrored parts", with track 5, "Void"acting as the actual mirror itself. In digipak, with full color 24page booklet. Not to detract from previous releases, but this is easily the best Skin Area work to date, and a must for all things Martin Bladh!. $11.00

Skinwell - Tunnels ( Angle Rec: AR0506)
On Skinwell's Tunnels, Christian Corvellec and Martin Dumais serve up an hour-long exercise in industrial ambient-noise dronescaping, with the emphasis more on the ambient than noise side of the equation. “Orcvent” proves that the two are eminently capable of working up an apocalyptic roar when the mood strikes, but the track eschews the harrowing screech of a prototypical Merzbow assault for something less obliterating. Likewise, the cyclonic “Theodolite” churns relentlessly for nine minutes without ever reaching a pain-inducing pitch. Dumais (multi-slab processing, analog melodic extractions) and Corvellec (initial templates and layers, digital processing) ensnare the listener with cycling patterns and machine-like pulsations, much of it smothered in foggy textures and gnarly noise. A steady pitch of controlled squalls and unearthly industrial rumble opens “Floor” but gradually a bruising, indomitable throb moves to the forefront to eventually overpower the other sounds. In “Dissiminate,” a careening ghost-like specter hums at the center of cyclonic thrums and ear-piercing pitches, while the comparatively gentler “Fissionned” stretches its piano-like streams through softly crackling whooshes of static and hum as synthetic swoops ring out in the distance. Skinwell saves its deepest plunge, “Grim Coast,” for last, at which point the duo works up a steam-shop factory sweat for a good seventeen minutes. Textura.. $4.00

Sky Burial - There I Saw the Grey Wolf Gaping ( Small Doses: Dose115)
"There I Saw The Grey Wolf Gaping” marks a return to the shorter compostions which comprised Sky Burial’s first few releases. Athough inspired by diverse genres, Sky Burial has created a cohesive sound of its own, often citing esoteric and mythological subject matter as a muse. Sure, some of it sounds dated, some of it a bit primary and most certainly cheesy (Red Panties in particular), but then, a lot of still stands the test of time and brings back some pretty good memories.. $5.00

Some electro and rhythmic stuff here, but also a few of their darker, ritualistic, and more surreal moments, which I always found to be John's best work.. $9.66

Slogun - Free Speech Series 3 ( L-White: LW027/5)
One track. Starts off rather unassuming with samples and a lone burning frequency, with the vocals then roaring forth in the classic Slogun fashion and the frequencies starting to build ov erthe 15 minute time frame. . On a whole, a bit more minimalist than what I normally associate with Slogun, but that's not a bad thing. The intensity is very much intact. Part 5 in the Free Speech Series. $13.75

Slogun - Visit Revisit 2CD ( Autarkeia: ACD070)
Two CD set; Visit containing 12 all new tracks, Revisit containing a collection of tracks previously released in very small quantities, and representing the initial straight brutality Slogun is known for.
At any rate, I really love the direction John has been taking between this release and the last release, We Human Animal. There's more diversity here, and overall, it's less harsh, and yet equally as intense, the wall of noise replaced by something cleaner but more precise and definitely more atmospheric. In other words, you'll find more similarities to European p.e. than what you'd normally associate with Slogun, but there's no denying the power and fervid, aggressive energy on display. The vocals are even more up front and play an even more integral part in the overall sound. In top notch packaging wrapped in Autarkeia labeled slip case box including cover and informative 20 page booklet.. $24.00

Son of Eris - Kallisti ( Rage in Eden: Rae76)
Latest CD from this lesser known, but quality German neo-folk act, last seen in 2005 with their CDr on War office Propaganda. Very dark. emotive, and somber, with clean guitars, glitchy industrial infusions and manipulated noises on the lighter scale. Melodic, yet slightly atonal at times, which totally works in it's favor, and puts it a step above (or beyond) normal neo-folk fare. Nowhere near as quirky as Novy Svet, yet sharing some similar traits.. $7.00

Sophia - The Collective Works 2000-2003 4CD ( Cyclic Law: 31stCycle)
We are pleased to present and make available once again some of the most seminal and marking Industrial albums of the last decade. Formed in 2000 by Peter Bjärgö of Arcana fame as a need to explore a harsher sonic terrain, Sophia was to become a very singular mix of pounding Martial like drum patterns mixed with orchestral arrangements and deep atmospheric passages, which later revealed to be part of the foundation and inspiration to many of today's contemporary industrial artists. We've compiled Sophia's earlier work from the years 2000 till 2003 which saw 3 full length albums and 3 eps released over a 3 year period. Included in this unique 4CD set is the albums Sigillum Militum, Herbstwerk, Spite as well as the Aus Der Welt, The Seduction Of Madness and Death Dumb And Blind eps, the whole is housed in a 6 panel A5 fold out cover with an 8 page booklet. This is the chance to be introduced to this very unique act or to rediscover these long out of print classics. Limited edition of 1000 copies.. $34.00

Spanxti - Dheghom ( Autarkeia: ACD068)
Debut album from this Lithuanian project. 6 tracks, each based on ancient, archaic rituals. Takes a little while to get going, with the first two tracks mostly peaceful, meditative synth drones, but then it kicks in nicely, getting more ominous, adding percussion and ceremonial vocals. Hard to pigeonhole this one though - some Ordo Equilibrio sounds, maybe some older Allerseelen. Lmtd 200 copies.. $9.00

Splinterskin - Wayward Souls ( Cold Spring: CSR114)
Caught in the oblivious borderland, Splinterskin unveils his spell after years of solitude and hermetic isolation, in the form of a harsh, dark folk music. His tales are told using an old classical guitar accompanied by haunting vocals, violin, and soothing whispers cradled in the delicate atmospheres of autumn. With simple yet mystically riddled lyrics that beckon, Splinterskin taunts the listener with hidden meanings, allegorical concepts, nearly indescribable deep feelings, and a sense of universal understanding only a spirit as Splinterskin could possibly weave together as music.‘Wayward Souls’ is a collection of tales blending life and death, entities & creatures, hidden wisdom, unknown places, pain and suffering, folklore, possession, insanity, nature and the dark world that surrounds. With tales such as 'Dancing Dead Men,' 'The Thing that Wasn't,' and 'Chanting Bells Call Shadows', one can only suspect the moods are of a dark, moody and nightmarish nature...yet, there are no words to truly describe Splinterskin's message or music. $12.33

Spreu & Weizen - Gott Vergelt's ( Lichterklang: LK004)
Not to be confused with the other titles of the almost identical name - this is a brand new album released in June, 2011
"Gott vergelt’s", the second full-length album of Munich's SPREU & WEIZEN is a conceptual album concerned with the fall and second rise of the Roman Empire. The album's title is an allusion to a Southern German expression for "thank you", but is to be understood, as was the case with the first album's title "Gott erhalt's", as a play on words calling on God to retaliate against the decline of the Roman Empire.SPREU & WEIZEN's "Gott vergelt’s" features collaborations with Von Thronstahl, Art Abscons, Rose Rovine E Amanti and Karma Marata. As opposed to the aspiring Bavarians' first album, this CD can no longer be classified as purely neoclassical, which is mainly due to two new members who have had a strong impact on the project's sound. Apart from powerful slogans and fiery guitars, we are presented with an enticing melange of melancholic neoclassicism and gloomy Christian folk that has a decent Italian touch.. $12.00

S.Q.E. - 5+4 ( Silken Tofu: STX16)
SQE. is the moniker of J Greco, living and working in New York. Active in the electro-acoustic/experimental scene since the mid-1990s, he founded Smooth Quality Excrement together and collaborated with such artists as Ure Thrall, Paul Lacosta and Michael Hensley (Blood Box, Yen Pox), before concentrating on his solo material as SQE.
As SQE, J. Greco has collaborated with the likes of Amber Asylum, Tony Wakeford and Alan Trench & Tracy Jeffery (Orchis/Temple Music). This resulted in releases on Old Europa Cafe, Drone Records and Anticlock Records. With ‘5+4’, J Greco takes his work to a completely different level, perhaps more accessible sounding but still with its necessary hooks and experimental sounds.
Stylistically, it might surprise some (quite a few) people, with its contemporary electronic sounds and dub influences. Armed with effects, acoustic instruments and the lovely voice of Tracy Jeffery, SQE has made the soundtrack to some hazy, warm summer nights, combining this warmness with a slightly fuzzy mood and an at times cold 80s feel.. $11.66

S.Q.E. - Rise of the Vulcans ( Old Europa Café: OECD080)
Quite a surprising release for this project, and not necessarily a bad one. I’ts been a while since I listened to SQE, but they seem to have moved from a sort of lo-fi cosmic drone band, to a eclectic electro, dub, space ambient, neo-folk hybrid. Sounds terrible, right? Nope…it ain’t. It’s surprisingly well produced and slick sounding (relatively speaking), finding a nice balance between being ominous and beautiful, melodic and discordant. Features contributions from Ure Thrall, Tone Wakeford, Kris Force (Amber Asylum) and others.. $12.00

Squaremeter - 14id1610s ( Ant-Zen: Act98)
This is an extremely great example of cutting edge sampling and studio trickery, creating astounding glitch-orientated soundscapes (created, manipulated, de-constructed and assembled by the artist panacea). Taking 89% of sound samples from Ant-Zen releases, most are only fleetingly recognisable due to the scattergun approach to melding them together. Static burst of beats, blips, bleeps and other random sounds spit and gurgle from the speakers housed and delivered in a crystaline sound production. The breath of sound exploration ranges from scattered hyper beat-driven atmospheres to minimalist electronics, and represents a fantastic cornerstone of appropriately descriptive words solidify, the sounds of the cd have already surged off on a totally different tangent. However this is not to say that this lacks focus, for it is a very engaging listen. Not quite digital abstraction (due to the many beat-oriented samples), this is also not flowing enough to be able to be played in a club. Rather, it is more appropriately viewed as a digital canvas masterwork to be appreciated by connoisseurs of experimental digital soundworks. The packaging also deserves special mention with its minimal print, transparent cover and inlay card housed in a clear jewel case creating a very nice visual effect. Lastly, referencing the title, the cd equates to 14 tracks (14id) and an astounding 1610 samples (1610s). To even imagine collating that many samples into a cohesive and listenable whole is an astounding feat within itself. Spectrum 4, Richard Stevenson. $7.00

Sshe Retina Stimulants - Margini Sonori II CDr ( Show Me Your Wounds: Lesion001)
From Judas Kiss Magazine "On 4th March 2008 P.NG5361.B set up his live assault in Barrio's, Milano, Italy. His Super Sound High Energy platform was shared by a number of artists who performed that day: Limbielettronici; Madame P; Nufenen and Analog Suicide. Approximately twenty-two and a half minutes comprises P.NG5361.B's segment relative to this CDr release. The CDr is presented in card form, along with a four page booklet and a small quantity of iron filings. Happily, unlike the iron filings the recording is not merely a by-product of an industrial process. A low course feed open proceedings before exploding suddenly in a caustic cauldron of noise turbulence. From here on P.NG5361.B construct his sound walls with pulse-effects and electronic subversions before attempting to bring them down with a barrage of roaming frequencies and noise traffic that are further manipulated through alternating volumes and strength patterns. Stratified noise pockets expand before collapsing into low-fi plateaus while blistering pitches are cranked up and held. P.NG5361.B also bothers the foundations of his sound walls by introducing detuned electronic strings and looping keys, all shot through with scorching and abrasive manipulations that climb steadily, scaring the upper levels of the acute power noise threshold. Only several instances of dropped noise assault and brief drone offer any semblance of respite from the crushing distortions unleashed over the course of twenty-two minutes. A release burgeoning with P.NG5361.B's corrosive style being listless throughout, and as a subtle nod towards the expansion of the genre's norms it represents a competent ambassador.. $7.00

Stahlwerk9 - Der Tod Nagelt die Augen Zue ( Steinklang: SK37)
Standout new album from this up and coming act. Der Tod is certainly their heaviest and ‘noisiest’ recording to date, with strong, scourging drones and slow, doomy pulsations. The vocals are deep and drugged, very reminiscent of earlier Predominance. In fact, the whole recording definitely takes its cue from that project-…gloomy, oppressive and ominous. Steel Hook Prostheses - Atrocitizer ( Malignant: TumorCD34)
As long time admirers of this Texas two piece, it seemed only a matter of time before Steel Hook Prostheses would find a home with Malignant. Stormloop is Kev Spence from Leeds, England who has been making electronic and ambient recordings since 1999. Snowbound* is his first recording on a record label, and the ambience is in perfect harmony with the icy themes of Glacial Movements.
Snowbound* is a collection of tracks that were recorded in late December 2009. Deep snow had fallen and stayed for over two weeks. Composing usually late into the night and watching the heavy snowfalls was the inspiration for these tracks, and the feeling of being lost in some remote cabin, safe but warm, with good food and drink, staring out at the depths of winter snow that covers the land..

Strops - Strops ( Raubbau: Raub003)
A lonely atmosphere… a forest on a misty autumn day… constructed by heavy drones, pulsating beat-like structures and lyrics in aunfamiliar sounding language… Strops are taking us out of the comfort and warmth of our hiding place called life, guiding us on adark and also mysterious journey like they did last year on 'Likuma Burts'.The breath of wrecked machines seeps through the album, transported by amphoric sounds created through heavy manipulation of the sound of steel drums. The artwork reflects the music perfectly: arranged hexagonal nuts on a rusty background, referring to a beehive (being thetranslation of strops into english) as well as the origin of the sounds. Clear repetitive structures versus threatening drones andtangible metal sounds; gained out of rusty steel. As simple as the structure of a beehive is, as complex is the formation of what is transported to the listeners mind. every friend ofnon-easy listening and frowning sound-scapes will be fascinated by this new release on Raubbau.. $8.00

Sturmpercht - Schattenlieder ( Percht: Percht12)
Three years have passed since Sturmpercht released their cult-album „"Geister im Waldgebirg"“. now the masters of ALPINE FOLK are back with their new album "„Schattenlieder - eine kleine Nachtmusik für Waldteufel und Berggeister“. The album features 20 diverse and unique songs full of alpine mystic, heathen legends and tales about strange fairies and pagan rites. "“Schattenlieder”" entrains you into deep forests, arcane mountains and dark chasms and guides you to hidden places in the depth of the central European forests, where hunters meet strange creatures from dusk til dawn. The atmosphere of the album varies between gnarled songs about creepy fairies, catchy folk hymns and dark songs about the hard life in high alpine regoins. The lyrics deal with alpine myths, forest tales and hunter sagas. “Schattenlieder” is the perfect "soundtrack" for misty autumn evenings as well as for dark winter nights. The album features a large variety of instruments and sounds: obscure, strange, folky, psychedelic, but always original and weird, in Sturmpercht's very unique way. “Schattenlieder” is a completely unpredictable album - each track is a "standalone", but contributes to the overall ambience of this alpine folk masterpiece and in the end the album creates a round, whole atmosphere. With almost 80 minutes of scary/dreamy folk songs, the album definitely sets a new benchmark within the Alpine Folk genre. $9.00

Survival Unit - Murder for the Mission ( Autarkeia: ACD034)
Although the cult album Fentanyl Martyrs signified the death of Survival Unit , they remain toxic even while buried. Murder for the Mission represents volume 1 of old and very rare, almost unobtainable retrospective recordings of this Swedish cult project. It includes both released and unreleased tracks from several sessions: Vemod label's tape Murder For The Mission, a concert in Paris and the CDR Utan Fana released as a very limited edition. Extremely aggressive psycho-powerelectronics full of hatred and insane samples, with intrinsicly frantic and maniacal energy.. $14.50

Here is one more masterpiece of Swedish cultural terrorism supplemented with new material and re-released in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. A rather nice companion to Will to Zero, in that it's a generally more atmospheric and gloomy release. Relatively speaking that is. f Still, plenty of subversive sounds delivered here and plenty of aural violence to satisfy all.. $14.33

This is an exceptionally suggestive, psychedelic power electronics with deeply terrorising implications. Sutcliffe Jugend - Blue Rabbit ( Crucial Blast: CBR95)
Appearing in the early 80's as an offshoot of the legendary UK power electronics band Whitehouse, Sutcliffe Jugend soon went to to become an equally confrontational and extreme purveyor of the early PE/industrial sound, producing some of the most abrasive and violent electronics albums ever with their early Come Organisation releases We Spit On Their Graves and Campaign . Since then, Sutcliffe Jugend has continued to pursue a unique sonic vision that combines transgressive subject matter and dark, cerebral musings on violence and sexual perversion with explorations into the use of brutal feedback and synthesizer damage. In the past decade, however, the band has delved into darker, more restrained (at least on a sonic level) sounds alongside their harsher work, and Blue Rabbit is the latest such offering, unfolding like a night-terror across the album's eight tracks. You won't find any of SJ's trademark power electronics sound here, nor the dark throbbing industrial of their recent album With Extreme Prejudice for Cold Spring Records; this is a darker, more unsettling experience, heavy with an atmosphere of doom and smoldering violence, as if Sutcliffe Jugend sought to channel the creaking dread of Nurse With Wound's Salt Marie Celeste through a series if blood-freezing psychosexual nightmares.
The first song "Solace" begins with washes of black tidal drift and eerie creaking sounds, wheezing string-like drones, the scrape of bones against the rusted strings of a cello, brief flashes of piano, and strange low-frequency muttering, snatches of melody drift in and out of clarity, while a male voice murmurs just below the surface of this seasick soundscape. The vocals never break into the kind of high, manic screaming that you'd hear on previous SJ albums, instead appearing as a malevolent presence, a depraved narrator lurking in the dark corners of Blue Rabbit. The album creeps through ever more disturbing scenes, from the sparse electro-acoustic collage of percussive noises, asthmatic scraping strings and reedy feedback tones that make up "Seed", a collage of warbly electronic tones, the thump of an oil tank, evil whispers guiding the listener through these aural hallucinations, the track eventually resembling some nightmare free-improv session.
Then there is "The Bad Mannered Prophet", an almost orchestral dark ambient epic unlike anything that I have ever heard from Sutcliffe Jugend, magisterial and haunting, a stirring dark melody and sounds of distant chanting looping repeatedly beneath a creaking, crashing oceanic soundscape. And the rest of the album drifts further through these realms of bad-dream ambience, strange somnambulant improv and the sounds of organ, murmuring voices, mewling cries, jazzy bass frozen into a glacial drip, minimalist drones that waver and fade against the darkness, the slow scrape of the bow across strings processed into buzzing, wasp-like tones, clouds of billowing melodious keyboard, the songs at times resembling the din of a house of clocks gone haywire, finally culminating in the frenzied depravity of "The Death Of Pornography".
For fans of the band that are primarily familiar with their harsher output on Come Org and Cold Spring, this is a revelation; a seething quasi-ambient nightmare that lingers with the listener, enhanced in it's creep factor by the unsettling paintings from Sutcliffe Jugend's Kevin Tomkins that make up the album art. Comes in a full-color digipack.. $8.00

Sutcliffe Jugend - With Extreme Prejudice ( Cold Spring: CSR143CD)
Harsh extreme electronic pioneers Sutcliffe Jugend return with an album of all new material. Three years in the making, and with numerous reworkings, "With Extreme Prejudice" finds Sutcliffe Jugend at the top of their game. Enter if you dare, the very twisted and real world of Sutcliffe Jugend as they execute With Extreme Prejudice. 6-panel digipak.. $12.00

Svartsinn - Of Darkness and Re-Creation ( Cyclic Law: 5th Cycle)
First in a series of collaborations between Cyclic Law and Ewers Tonkunst, this is a re-issue of the long sold out second Svartsinn album from the year 2003. “Of Darkness And Re-Creation” is a “collection of stories based on heavy mind struggles, emotional complicity or elegies which either leads to emptiness or dark places for a re-creation of the self image. Darkness is all around us or inside each and every one of us, let¹s not fear it.. Prosper in darkness...” (from the original edition release notes). Maybe the most hopeless and desperate music ever done by Svartsinn’s mastermind’s Jan Roger Pettersen, it is definitely one of the classical works from this “new” generation of dark ambient artists that were gathered around Cyclic Law in the first decade of 2000. This edition has completely new artwork and new mastering, it is limited to 500 copies and comes in a stylish monochrome mini LP-like cover with inner sleeve, both with silkscreened elements. .. $12.66

Swanika - Volkhoven ( Pflicht: Pflicht051)
Volkhoven is Swanika’s 2nd full length – a full-on confrontation with the deepest abyss of human psyche, based on incidents impossible to comprehend. The album is fueled by fierce powerful noise blasts and operates as a numbing sonic purgatory. While Swanika’s hellish debut 'Hotel' was based on the fictional horror of 'The Shining', this album is based on the very real horror of the killing spree of Volkhoven, a rural community on the outskirts of Cologne. On June 11th, 1964, invalid pensioner Walter Seifert set to take revenge on the authorities and aimed for the weakest victims he could find: the children of the same primary school he had visited himself. He entered the school grounds with a self-built flame thrower and a lancet. In the only fragmentarily reconstructed course of his amok run he severely wounded 20 children, and killed eight, as well as two teachers. Swanika’s 'Volkhoven' serves as a documentary for an event largely forgotten, and follows the sequence of what happened on that dreaded day as close as possible: the first track '11.06.1964 8:54 uhr' is a 13 minute collage of playing children’s voices, bass/guitar lines, whispered vocals (proclaiming someone wants to kill), eerie synthetic backdrop and occasional metallic rhythms, altogether quite surreal and rather accessible, with the noise building up steadily. The forecourt to hell seems almost likeable, but then… in the end of the track one hears the whispered names of the ten victims to come, and the unthinkable starts at '11.06.1964 9:06 uhr' - 53 minutes of purifying, horrifying noise, divided into ten sections of five minutes, each dedicated to one of Seifert’s victims, plus a short outro. This mirrors the fact that what had happened was quickly suppressed in the public’s memory and never gained the notoriety of similar incidents, possibly because Seifert was beyond question paranoid and schizophrenic, and he never went to court for his action, as he had poisoned himself lethally that very day. The elements included in Swanika’s noise opera are harshest feedbacks, punchy rhythms, fierce guitar drones, screamed vocals and other shredded sonic fragments. 'Musically' this is not an inch short of other masters of noise, may it come from Japan or elsewhere. 'Volkhoven' comes in a black foldout cardboard cover with silver printing, depicting the flame thrower Seifert used, as well as rare pictures of the burnt school barracks. Excruciatingly real, Swanika again propel you towards the heart of darkness.. $14.77
