Sacher Pelz - In Hoc Urbia Miazi ( Old Europa Café: OECD090)
Very few are aware of the beginning of Maurizio Bianchi's adventures. Before starting the complex and compelling production of many records and tapes in the early eighties under the M.B. trademark, Maurizio Bianchi was documenting the new music scene writing essays and reviews for independent magazines. It was August 1979 in Milan, Italy and his sound was strengthening when he felt the time had come to prove his desire for something new. So he started his first solo project, under the name Sacher-pelz. 28 years later, SP is back, though stylistically, his sound has remained firmly rooted in the late ‘70’s-early ‘80s experimental era….a blur of tonal exploration, hissing white noise and minimalistic drones, with strange vocals that barely make it into the audible spectrum. MB calls this a 'clotted' sound, which somehow sounds fitting. Man, really challenging material, though will find appeal to fans of the early Come Organisation releases. Reminds me a lot of ChopShop, for those that remember that late ‘80s project.. $14.25

Sagentoter - Prayers to Othinn ( Ahnstern: Ahnstern14)
A very fine folk album with some middle-age/Renaissance era instrumentation. Sagentoeter are members of Riharc Smiles (and sound very similar), which guarantees you a large variety of perfectly played acoustic instrumentsguitar, including Flamish Bagpipes, Recorder, Hurdy Gurdy, Nyckelharpa, Dalslandspipa, Flute, didgeridoo and percussion. Theres an authenticity and intimacy that you just can’t find in the majority of neo-folk being released (just check out the amazing track 5 as a personification of this) The lyrics are strong and heroic and tell from a ancient nordic Wolfage, while the music is at times quiet and a touch minimal, but very well composed and very traditional in feel. In wooden box.. $8.00

Sangre Cavallum - Patria Granitica ( Ahnstern: Ahnstern18)
"Pátria Granítica” - Granite Fatherland - is the long awaited new album from the northern Portuguese Sangre Cavallum. The album contains ten powerful songs combining heroic traditional music and beautiful Folk-ballads, sometimes even with a slight avantgarde touch. The artists perfectly play a large variety of early traditional instruments, blended with electrical sounds and mesmerizing psychedelic arrangements. “Pátria Granítica” is a pagan journey into the world of stones of their historical homeland Callæcia and its gods, giving voice to the traditional heritage of granite warriors. Their first album "Barbara Carmina" was released on Michael Moynihan's (Blood Axis) label Storm. $6.00

Satanismo Calibro 9 - Orgasmurder ( Old Europa Café: OECD141B)
First full length, non CDr project from this Italy based, black industrial project, who create some infernal, highly atmospheric and occult soundscapes, full of cryptic and obscured noises, grim, textural swirl, and some ritual stylings that ramp up the creep factor nicely. Doesn't necessarily sound like any of them, but this does fit the same niche as say a Steel Hook Prostheses, MZ.412, Defiler. etc. $14.33

Sator Absentia - Exis Time ( Dark Vinyl: DV054)
Existime  is the 4th studio album by Sator Absentia. Pulsating, ritual soundscapes combined with dark, nightmarish sound collages. More rhythmic than previous releases, but still heavily atmospheric, aided by some haunting electric violine/cello and underlying cinematic timbres. SA has always been quite good at layering and Existime is no exception.. $10.00

Sect - Auctoritas ( Rage in Eden: Rage84)
Latest material by the Polish project Sect, backed up by Lukasz Maj. Powerful and orchestral instrumentation, which Sect is famous for, enriched by Lukasz with new accents that have made Sect’s music ascend to a level higher. Pure neo-classical that's stirring and dramatic, though not necessarily heavy like a Sophia or Karjalan Sissit. This is more strings and brass than percussion, and at times, crosses into a sort of manic, stylized formation, almost in the Gae Bolg mold.. $14.33

Sect - Imperative ( Rage in Eden: Rage69)
With his second album Lukasz Maj, the man behind Sect, has returned with his strongest and most mature work to date. This time we get more bombastic and often militant orchestral and industrial music than on the debut. Sect managed to expand his ideas and turn them into classical orchestration, so with "Imperative" we get mature, powerful orchestral piece of music in the vein of Arditi, Sophia or Predella Avant. The majestic, threatening, dark and sometimes aggressive and fierce symphonic sounds arranged in a dark concept album with a brilliant balance of bombastic and melancholic fragments should satisfy both martial industrial fanatics and neo-classical orchestra enthusiasts.. $7.00

Seelenthron - Wege ( Heimatfolk: Heimatfolk01)
After their outstanding debut-album "Heimkehr" and the CD-single "Steingeworden", finally appears now the second fulltime-album of the two former Dies Natalis protagonists Norbert Strahl and Alex Meier. "Wege" is a classical Neo-Folk album in best tradition. Some songs mirror a sad, sometimes even gloomy picture of the world inside and outside of ourselves, other songs are just filigree Folk-balads, as beautiful and dreamy as one could imagine. Nevertheless all nine songs always stand strong and powerful, showing a path to the listener, never to turn back and never to lose his courage. Martial rhythms drum stirringly to neoclassical compositions, united with impassionate piano- and guitarplaying and electronic sounds. The challenging lyrics on "Wege" deal with the stages in one's life, our path through time and the questions for the meaning and the purpose of life. 9 tracks / 40 Min.. $8.00

Sektor 304 - Soul Cleansing ( Malignant: TumorCD43)
Equipped with a frightening and impressive array of primitive instrumentation pulled from junkyards and scrap metal heaps, this Portuguese outfit has delivered an astounding formal debut – a heady mixture of truly old school industrial in the vein of Einsturzende Neubauten, Test Dept , and S.P.K , and the grinding, bass heavy dirge of vintage Swans and Godflesh . These are anthems to the past, but geared towards an apocalyptic and bleak future… a form of counter-culture using what is most evident in modern western society: the debris, the abandoned objects, the waste, the noise, and the interference.
With a solid foundation of rusty, oil drenched percussion, Sektor 304 adds layer upon layer of squalling industrial clangor, hammering metallic noise, grimy atmospheres, heaving masses of haunted factory drones, and threatening tribal batter, with a strong and commanding vocal presence. The sound here is almost physical in nature – provocative, persistent, and demanding. No one is doing what Sektor 304 is doing right now. Anyone into TRUE industrial (and that includes not just the aformentioned old guard, but also things like Strom.ec , Militia, Negru Voda , and Knifeladder ) really should not miss out.In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Steel Hook Audio.. $11.00

Sektor 304 - Subliminal Actions ( Malignant: TumorCD53)
The follow-up to the highly acclaimed Soul Cleansing CD finds Portugals Sektor 304 expanding on all aspects of their debut, once again channeling the essence of the old school guardians (Test Dept, SPK, Crash Worship), while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory.
Comparatively speaking, Subliminal Actions is a more complete and focused album, with an even better flow than Soul Cleansing and more attention paid to detail, unleashing a cacophonic whirlwind of buzz saw grind, loops, power tools, and scraping, junk metal debris, clashing head on with exertive tribal percussion, clanging oil barrel rhythms, and industrial clamor resonating over a sprawling, post- apocalyptic wasteland. Some tracks, such as the opener, “A Carving on Metallic Flesh”, heap on the scorching noise, while others, such as the resounding, rhythmic driven “By The Throat”, “A Vessel of Guilt”, or “Vultures” are delivered with factory-line precision, laced with grimy layers of bass-heavy dirge, bleak, reverbed squall, and distortion filled, atmospheric drone. Among the many highlights, is the albums closer, “A Prismatic Sun”, a 10 + minute epic excursion into a nightmarish world, populated by whispered vocals and uneasy drift that slowly rises and grows in intensity, climaxing into a blissfully dark and sweaty orgy of low slung bass, ominous, ceremonial drumming, and suffocating darkness.
Subliminal Action not only compliments Soul Cleansing, but takes the Sektor 304 sound to new heights, delivering yet striking record sure to solidify their standing as one of premier, truly industrial acts in operation today.

Having sold out of last year’s With Dirt You Are One CD within a few months span, supreme, Boston based cultists Sewer Goddess return to Black Plagve with Disciples of Shit: Live Waste, a fetid and raw collection of live audio crimes committed over a two year period from 2009-2010. Shinkiro - Way of the Gods ( Athanor: Athanor036)
Athanor is proud to present the second album by Japanese artist Manabu Hiramoto as Shinkiro. While the first album was urban and influenced by the deep dark atmospheres of the futuristic city of Osaka, Shinkiro’s new album focuss on a more personal path influenced by Shinto, Bouddhism and Manabu’s relocation by the country side. The sound of the new album is made of dark soundscapes mixed with percussion, soundsources of rain, winds, sea, trees, waves and birds. Though the album is dark ambient and ritualistic in essence, it also has a meditative and contemplative touch which may please fans of Steve Roach, Robert Rich or Alio Die. Sigma Octantis - Dislocations ( Divine Comedy: DC059)
The music by Sigma Octantis is hard to describe, but it is certainly very obsessive. A crossing path between ritual and harsh ambient music, deeply rooted in the experimental films and music of the 80s. Definitely one of the most abstract acts from a label that never really turned mainstream. This brand new release comes with a collage by Fab (founder of Divine Comedy) which tries to decipher the disincarnated but structured dimension of Sigma Octantis' musical realms. Influences remain the same (Morthound most noticeably but also, MB, Militia, Megaptera and perhaps the quieter side of BDN), but this opus presents a more melodic touch than its predecessor. It captures the same feeling but in a more bombastic, cruel and complex way. It is, dare we say, a bit unnerving?!. $8.00

Simon Kolle - Res Dej Inte! ( Neuropa: NRP24)
An original motion picture soundtrack composed by Simon Kolle of Abnocto and Za Frumi fame, who of course was already making some pretty suberb cinematic music as is, just not offically part of a soundtrack like this is. According to the press release, the film is a dark, realistic story, following three youth gangs, their lives, and their time spent on the streets. Over a relatively short span the characters deal with paranoia, pain, violence and more. The film is powerful and grim, with the last scenes totally unforgettable. The plot comes to a sudden end and there are no truths about what really happened. More than a film, Res dej inte! is a comment about the ongoing violence in society. Suitably, the music is dark suspenseful, broken up into short segments and spanning a broad array of sounds. Mostly though this is heavily atmospheric and ambient, with occasional outbursts of a more violent and dramatic nature, as you might expect based on the plot. As it draws to an end, there's a series of rather structured, folky songs that I assume are important to the plot, though they're slightly out of place here. Easy to overlook in an otherwise strong piece of work.. $6.00

Skin Area - Rothko Field ( Malignant: TumorCD52)
3rd full length release from this acclaimed Martin Bladh (IRM) project(in conjunction with Magnus Lindh), following 2002's New Skin CD and 2006's double CD Journal Noir/Lithium Path, both on Cold Meat Industry.
Like previous works, Rothko Field is a highly charged and visceral auditory experience...mind bending and turbulent sonic explorations that are grainy and tense, where uneasy frequencies intersect with caustic drones, infected, insectile buzz, swelling drifts, and intense, slow motion percussion driven sludgery. Further comparison reveals Rothko Field to be less schizophrenic, less challenging, and more structured than in the past, coming off as both spacious and yet suffocatingly claustrophobic (and ultimately closer in style to IRM), suggestive of a spiral downwards into mental decay and degradation, and further enhanced by Martin's uniquely distressed and provocative vocalizations.
9 tracks total, broken into two "mirrored parts", with track 5, "Void"acting as the actual mirror itself. In digipak, with full color 24page booklet. Not to detract from previous releases, but this is easily the best Skin Area work to date, and a must for all things Martin Bladh!. $11.00

Skinwell - Tunnels ( Angle Rec: AR0506)
On Skinwell's Tunnels, Christian Corvellec and Martin Dumais serve up an hour-long exercise in industrial ambient-noise dronescaping, with the emphasis more on the ambient than noise side of the equation. “Orcvent” proves that the two are eminently capable of working up an apocalyptic roar when the mood strikes, but the track eschews the harrowing screech of a prototypical Merzbow assault for something less obliterating. Likewise, the cyclonic “Theodolite” churns relentlessly for nine minutes without ever reaching a pain-inducing pitch. Dumais (multi-slab processing, analog melodic extractions) and Corvellec (initial templates and layers, digital processing) ensnare the listener with cycling patterns and machine-like pulsations, much of it smothered in foggy textures and gnarly noise. A steady pitch of controlled squalls and unearthly industrial rumble opens “Floor” but gradually a bruising, indomitable throb moves to the forefront to eventually overpower the other sounds. In “Dissiminate,” a careening ghost-like specter hums at the center of cyclonic thrums and ear-piercing pitches, while the comparatively gentler “Fissionned” stretches its piano-like streams through softly crackling whooshes of static and hum as synthetic swoops ring out in the distance. Skinwell saves its deepest plunge, “Grim Coast,” for last, at which point the duo works up a steam-shop factory sweat for a good seventeen minutes. Textura.. $4.00

Sleep Chamber - Stolen Sleep ( Inner-X Musick: IX-001)
Stolen Sleep marks a triumphant return for Sleepchamber. Nearly every song on the CD revolves around the theme of a mummy stolen from his "Sleep Chamber". The only exception being the hard driving track "Nightsuit". Interestingly enough "Nightsuit" is basically a Zewizz solo track with only the kick drum added by Avakian. "Nightsuit" also happens to be my personal favorite on the release. Other strong performances can be found on the epic "Tomb" with its driving base line and clocking in at 12 minutes it is a tour de force that begs a dance mix. Also, surprisingly enough there are two instrumental on the release. "Temple Ov Isis" and "Cult Ov Anubus" both capture the feel of a ancient Egypt, but with a Sleepchamber twist. Lastly the CD comes with a blast from the past. "Kum Kleopatra Kum" originally from 1985s "Submit To Desire", has been revamped and modernized and a perfect fit on the new release. The new line up of B Avakian and Gimmie Sparks along with Zewizz pull together a masterfully crafted release. And perhaps the best surprise of all is Zewizzs voice has improved with age. The whispery style he once used has been replaced by a growl. What once seemed to be an invitation to decadence, now seems to be a command. My hope is this line up stays together for more musick in the years to come. Two CD set; Visit containing 12 all new tracks, Revisit containing a collection of tracks previously released in very small quantities, and representing the initial straight brutality Slogun is known for.
At any rate, I really love the direction John has been taking between this release and the last release, We Human Animal. There's more diversity here, and overall, it's less harsh, and yet equally as intense, the wall of noise replaced by something cleaner but more precise and definitely more atmospheric. In other words, you'll find more similarities to European p.e. than what you'd normally associate with Slogun, but there's no denying the power and fervid, aggressive energy on display. The vocals are even more up front and play an even more integral part in the overall sound. In top notch packaging wrapped in Autarkeia labeled slip case box including cover and informative 20 page booklet.. $24.00

Slogun - We Human Animal ( Circle of Shit: COS25)
A welcome release of new material from Slogun in quite some time, and what a beast it is. We Are Animal is a scathing attack on humanity, delivered with precise, focused energy and contempt. Musically, it strikes me as a darker release, with a more restrained approach. But let's get this straight, that's strictly in comparison to some of John's other works. In reality, this is incredibly intense and sonically violent - swirling textured distortion and turbine charged electronics, with screamed, in your face vocals delivered in the classic Slogun style. Still, there's more variation here than a lot of previous works (John told me he "really layered this sucker", and it shows), with claustrophobically atmospheric passages that make for a very complete release. Killer....but then, what did you expect? Lmtd 300, in 6 panel digipak.. $11.33

Somatic Response - Pounded Mass ( Hymen/Ant-Zen: Y741)
For those rubberheads who consider Somatic Responses to be idm - thanks in part to their melodically brilliant 2002 album for Hymen, Touching the Void - take heart: Pounded Mass stylistically name checks your idm and experimental electronic icons like Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and Lee Norris. Somatic Responses' John Healy and Paul Healy also have a message for these folks: rethink that tag. Pounded Mass is one acerbic noise assault after another, the kind that will make most fans of twee synth tunes soil themselves. "We've taken a harder stance for this lp, as the title suggests," says John. "I think that we were categorized as idm for a bit, which we never really understood...so we've applied a few good measures of distortion, et cetera to this release. there's much more of a mixed bag in this release..." on the tripadelic "Bathrobe Brawl v1," Somatic Responses infuse the psychotic turntablist scratching effervescence of DJ Spooky with breaks and bass worthy of a depth charge or DJ Shadow cut. One track later, on "Go Off," the Welsh brothers crank up the Somatic Responses style of electro-mechano breakcore ferocity that would otherwise plant Pounded Mass firmly in the realm of Xanopticon or Orphx. Then there's the aptly-titled "The Day idm Crawled Up its Own Arse," which John says is "a simple statement of what we think of the elitist and good old-fashioned cock-head idm producers." Hymen sincerely hopes you "feel the love" on Somatic Responses' Pounded Mass.. $5.00

Somatic Responses - Concrete Glider ( Hymen: Y796)
Still pushing the envelopes of genre with their unique, rigorous approach to electronic dance music, the Welsh brothers deliver a truly fine assortment of gloomy ambient, breakcore, drum'n'bass, idm, hardcore techno and industrial, all thrown through the somatic responses blender and spread throughout the album's 13 tracks. expressing a wide range of emotions and atmospheres ranging from the icy melancholic 'ReplicantLoss' and the academic crystal clarity of 'Science and Emotion' to furious distorted monsters like 'Fryday'.
Although the idea of building a concrete glider sounds like an oxymoron, the album title cuts to the core of the matter: a collection of skillfully designed sonic explorations where force and facility are utterly inseperable.. $14.66

Somatic Responses - Digital Darkness ( Hymen: Y764)
A new sign of life from Wales - John and Paul Healy, well-known as Somatic Responses produced a new full length work of electronic sound wizardry. Almost two years have passed since Giauzar and itseems the brothers used their time not only for the exploration of new tonal and atonal scapes, they also went for a re-analysis of their roots. The digital darkness described here is a dry, drawn out universe of distorted chromatic bass, straightened heavy beats and swirling filter pulses, establishing ties from the times when the tb-303 took over technoid music up to the nineties where speed increased andrhythms became dodgier. Stylistic classifications were never Somatic Responses' aim, nevertheless, Digital Darkness might be rated as one of their most straight-lined works since years. $10.99

Latest CD from this lesser known, but quality German neo-folk act, last seen in 2005 with their CDr on War office Propaganda. Very dark. emotive, and somber, with clean guitars, glitchy industrial infusions and manipulated noises on the lighter scale. Melodic, yet slightly atonal at times, which totally works in it's favor, and puts it a step above (or beyond) normal neo-folk fare. Sophia - The Collective Works 2000-2003 4CD ( Cyclic Law: 31stCycle)
We are pleased to present and make available once again some of the most seminal and marking Industrial albums of the last decade. Formed in 2000 by Peter Bjärgö of Arcana fame as a need to explore a harsher sonic terrain, Sophia was to become a very singular mix of pounding Martial like drum patterns mixed with orchestral arrangements and deep atmospheric passages, which later revealed to be part of the foundation and inspiration to many of today's contemporary industrial artists. We've compiled Sophia's earlier work from the years 2000 till 2003 which saw 3 full length albums and 3 eps released over a 3 year period. Included in this unique 4CD set is the albums Sigillum Militum, Herbstwerk, Spite as well as the Aus Der Welt, The Seduction Of Madness and Death Dumb And Blind eps, the whole is housed in a 6 panel A5 fold out cover with an 8 page booklet. Splinterskin - Wayward Souls ( Cold Spring: CSR114)
Caught in the oblivious borderland, Splinterskin unveils his spell after years of solitude and hermetic isolation, in the form of a harsh, dark folk music. His tales are told using an old classical guitar accompanied by haunting vocals, violin, and soothing whispers cradled in the delicate atmospheres of autumn. With simple yet mystically riddled lyrics that beckon, Splinterskin taunts the listener with hidden meanings, allegorical concepts, nearly indescribable deep feelings, and a sense of universal understanding only a spirit as Splinterskin could possibly weave together as music.‘Wayward Souls’ is a collection of tales blending life and death, entities & creatures, hidden wisdom, unknown places, pain and suffering, folklore, possession, insanity, nature and the dark world that surrounds. With tales such as 'Dancing Dead Men,' 'The Thing that Wasn't,' and 'Chanting Bells Call Shadows', one can only suspect the moods are of a dark, moody and nightmarish nature...yet, there are no words to truly describe Splinterskin's message or music. $12.33

Spreu & Weizen - Gott Vergelt's ( Lichterklang: LK004)
Not to be confused with the other titles of the almost identical name - this is a brand new album released in June, 2011
"Gott vergelt’s", the second full-length album of Munich's SPREU & WEIZEN is a conceptual album concerned with the fall and second rise of the Roman Empire. The album's title is an allusion to a Southern German expression for "thank you", but is to be understood, as was the case with the first album's title "Gott erhalt's", as a play on words calling on God to retaliate against the decline of the Roman Empire.SPREU & WEIZEN's "Gott vergelt’s" features collaborations with Von Thronstahl, Art Abscons, Rose Rovine E Amanti and Karma Marata. As opposed to the aspiring Bavarians' first album, this CD can no longer be classified as purely neoclassical, which is mainly due to two new members who have had a strong impact on the project's sound. Apart from powerful slogans and fiery guitars, we are presented with an enticing melange of melancholic neoclassicism and gloomy Christian folk that has a decent Italian touch.. $12.00

S.Q.E. - Rise of the Vulcans ( Old Europa Café: OECD080)
Quite a surprising release for this project, and not necessarily a bad one. I’ts been a while since I listened to SQE, but they seem to have moved from a sort of lo-fi cosmic drone band, to a eclectic electro, dub, space ambient, neo-folk hybrid. Sounds terrible, right? Nope…it ain’t. It’s surprisingly well produced and slick sounding (relatively speaking), finding a nice balance between being ominous and beautiful, melodic and discordant. Features contributions from Ure Thrall, Tone Wakeford, Kris Force (Amber Asylum) and others.. $12.00

Squaremeter - 14id1610s ( Ant-Zen: Act98)
This is an extremely great example of cutting edge sampling and studio trickery, creating astounding glitch-orientated soundscapes (created, manipulated, de-constructed and assembled by the artist panacea). Taking 89% of sound samples from Ant-Zen releases, most are only fleetingly recognisable due to the scattergun approach to melding them together. Static burst of beats, blips, bleeps and other random sounds spit and gurgle from the speakers housed and delivered in a crystaline sound production. The breath of sound exploration ranges from scattered hyper beat-driven atmospheres to minimalist electronics, and represents a fantastic cornerstone of appropriately descriptive words solidify, the sounds of the cd have already surged off on a totally different tangent. However this is not to say that this lacks focus, for it is a very engaging listen. Not quite digital abstraction (due to the many beat-oriented samples), this is also not flowing enough to be able to be played in a club. Rather, it is more appropriately viewed as a digital canvas masterwork to be appreciated by connoisseurs of experimental digital soundworks. The packaging also deserves special mention with its minimal print, transparent cover and inlay card housed in a clear jewel case creating a very nice visual effect. Lastly, referencing the title, the cd equates to 14 tracks (14id) and an astounding 1610 samples (1610s). To even imagine collating that many samples into a cohesive and listenable whole is an astounding feat within itself. Spectrum 4, Richard Stevenson. $7.00

Sshe Retina Stimulants - Margini Sonori II CDr ( Show Me Your Wounds: Lesion001)
From Judas Kiss Magazine "On 4th March 2008 P.NG5361.B set up his live assault in Barrio's, Milano, Italy. His Super Sound High Energy platform was shared by a number of artists who performed that day: Limbielettronici; Madame P; Nufenen and Analog Suicide. Approximately twenty-two and a half minutes comprises P.NG5361.B's segment relative to this CDr release. The CDr is presented in card form, along with a four page booklet and a small quantity of iron filings. Happily, unlike the iron filings the recording is not merely a by-product of an industrial process. A low course feed open proceedings before exploding suddenly in a caustic cauldron of noise turbulence. From here on P.NG5361.B construct his sound walls with pulse-effects and electronic subversions before attempting to bring them down with a barrage of roaming frequencies and noise traffic that are further manipulated through alternating volumes and strength patterns. Stratified noise pockets expand before collapsing into low-fi plateaus while blistering pitches are cranked up and held. P.NG5361.B also bothers the foundations of his sound walls by introducing detuned electronic strings and looping keys, all shot through with scorching and abrasive manipulations that climb steadily, scaring the upper levels of the acute power noise threshold. Only several instances of dropped noise assault and brief drone offer any semblance of respite from the crushing distortions unleashed over the course of twenty-two minutes. A release burgeoning with P.NG5361.B's corrosive style being listless throughout, and as a subtle nod towards the expansion of the genre's norms it represents a competent ambassador.. $7.00

Steel Hook Prostheses - Torturous Anxiety ( L-White: LW028)
Finally back in stock! From Scott Candey/Wormgear: This is a new 10 song CD release in an oversized plastic bag and color sleeve package with some great grindhouse style cover art. Steel Hook Prostheses has always adeptly combined numerous elements of Dark Ambient, Death Industrial and Power Electronics, and this release shows them developing that concoction further. "Shrine Of Mutilation" opens the disc with about three minutes of nice droning ambience before the cycling distortions and processed vocals emerge. The vocals are delivered more in a exaggerated speaking manner than relentless full blown screams and it works well with the remaining ambience at the foundation of the track. "Dismemberment" uses gritty deep synth tones, throbbing noise abrasions and a venomous vocal attack to slowly build into a heaving beast. "The Masochist" begins with some minimal drones and a sample that gives rise to a ragged loop of distortion and swelling noise. The vocals on this track are lower in the mix and behave more like additional sound layer rather than a obvious vocal tract. "Parasitic" has a churning Death Industrial flair with some nice analog electronics sounds, and crispy distortions against a heavy tonal low end, and again the vocals are there but within the mix rather than on top of it. Tracks eight and nine are remixes by Control and Azoikum respectively, and fit nicely into the context of the album while still showing the fingerprints of the remixers. The things I really like about this project include their use of noise and atmosphere in unison, it leads to deeper and more sinister moods that build detail and allow for different ways to listen to the tracks. They consistently change up the processing on the vocals and the way the vocals are delivered so as not to get redundant and to actually match the tone of the sonics rather than just spitting them out methodically over whatever is there. This is a project that has improved with each new installment to their discography and definitely worth investigating if you are still unfamiliar”. Lmtd 200 copies. $13.99

Stein - Haldor ( Heimatfolk: Heimatfolk11)
STEIN was founded in 2005 as the solo-project of Norbert Strahl, the singer of SEELENTHRON and NOTHING ENDS, who was also basic member of the famous NeoFolk outfit DIES NATALIS. Norbert's aim with Stein was, to compose songs for the poems of Georg Thom (his grandfather), written between 1911 and 1936. In the beginning of the band, Norbert worked with Jens Vetter of GRÜNLAND, who also was ex-Dies Natalis member, but due to the intense work on Seelenthron, Stein stopped in the fledgling stage, until in 2009 the project finally grew to a real band. Finally in summer 2010 the first album "Haldor" was recorded in the Studios of Alexander Meier. "Haldor" is a mix of romantic-paganism and apocalyptic visions, packed in real handmade, classical NeoFolk. Strops - Strops ( Raubbau: Raub003)
A lonely atmosphere… a forest on a misty autumn day… constructed by heavy drones, pulsating beat-like structures and lyrics in aunfamiliar sounding language… Strops are taking us out of the comfort and warmth of our hiding place called life, guiding us on adark and also mysterious journey like they did last year on 'Likuma Burts'.The breath of wrecked machines seeps through the album, transported by amphoric sounds created through heavy manipulation of the sound of steel drums. The artwork reflects the music perfectly: arranged hexagonal nuts on a rusty background, referring to a beehive (being thetranslation of strops into english) as well as the origin of the sounds. Clear repetitive structures versus threatening drones andtangible metal sounds; gained out of rusty steel. As simple as the structure of a beehive is, as complex is the formation of what is transported to the listeners mind. every friend ofnon-easy listening and frowning sound-scapes will be fascinated by this new release on Raubbau.. $8.00

Subklinik - Musik for Dekomposition ( Fall of Nature: FN06)
Re-stock! Subklinik is Chad Davis (Torturecide, Mortuor). Since 1996, Subklinik has continued to create some of the darkest Death Industrial / necro-soundscapes in existence. Enter "Musik For Dekomposition", the latest full length from Subklinik, featuring six torturous expressions that convey a foreboding atmosphere abundant with feelings of death, and isolation, manifested through a sonic vortex of analogue filth and decay. Lo-fi, unsettling, and ultra grim, this immediately takes me back to the early-mid' 90s and the heyday of the Slaughter Productions cassette scene. CD re-issue of the cassette on No Visible Scars that came out in 2010.. $12.66

Survival Unit - Fentanyl Martyrs 2CD ( Autarkeia: ACD020A)
An amazing swan song for Survival Unit, in the form of an elaborately packaged 2CD, dedicated to the Chechnyan underground extremist movement. With SU, its never really clear whether he's exposing atrocities, or glorifying them. Is he for the bad guys, or against them? Hard to tell. Maybe somewhere in between I suppose. Provocative and confrontational, SU has never been something you'd be able to listen to without raising some sort of hackles, and he certainly delivers that with Fentanyl/Martyrs. Violent, incendiary power electronics, full of burrowing frequencies, saturated manipulations of noise, and a vehement vocal presence, all wrapped up in raw, lo-fi sound quality that only adds to to the intense, ‘guerilla’ feel that permeates this release. All I know is, the fuse is lit, SU is here to add the fuel. Completely uncompromising, as always. Comes in in special 3-part digipack, with a 20-page booklet full of grisly photos and amazing collages, 2 golden CDs and a special manually-made box will spit into the face of those mocking underground and the truth. Cultural Terrorism at it's finest AND most extreme. Way expensive, but top notch packaging. $36.99

It includes both released and unreleased tracks from several sessions: Vemod label's tape Murder For The Mission, a concert in Paris and the CDR Utan Fana released as a very limited edition. Extremely aggressive psycho-powerelectronics full of hatred and insane samples, with intrinsicly frantic and maniacal energy.. $14.50

At the times of global crisis, the zombies of cultural terrorism strike again with the fire of new toxic power. Tied Down For Survival is a old/new blow from the Scandinavian cult project Survival Unit to the rotten cancer of Western civilisation and the second collection of rarities in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. This is an exceptionally suggestive, psychedelic power electronics with deeply terrorising implications. Here you will listen to unreleased live records, passages from limited edition Utan Fana and the controversial conspiracy theory of Rolf-Peter Andersson, where the Swedish monarch family, Indira Gandhi and Mikhail Gorbachev practice cannibalism. Survival Unit - Will to Zero ( Autarkeia: ACD039)
Will To Zero is the third part in Survival Unit's golden collection of cultural terrorism series, actually meant for crippling as many people as possible with little hope for recovery. A particularly aggressive and deranged outing even by SU standards, with a more straightforward sound built around writhing pulsations, power drones, grimey noise, samples, and red blooded intensity. Fucking great. In 6 panel embossed digipak with yet more amazing collaged artwork. Sorry, these are creeping up in price as the dollar gets weaker.. $15.77

Svarrogh/Defiles des Ames/Arnica - South European Folk Compendium ( Ahnstern: Ahnstern37)
This triple-split CD is a unique compendium of South European folk music, inspired by Balkan, Catalan and Hellenic traditional culture. The sources and the stylistic devices of the three artists are quite different and descending from three different cultural regions, but there is just one intention and one deep mythological spirit, that unites the musicians to build up an axis through the mediterranean sunlit landscapes. On this album you will drown into the ritual, Alpine-Folk shamanism of Árnica, using a wide range of traditional instruments and the spirit of Catalunya - Svarrogh drags you to the deep and dark forests of Bulgaria by slavic chants, where you will meet the god Veles in his wooden shrine – and you will waft through a droning and apocalyptic haze to the powerful and emotional hellenic spheres of Défilé des Ames from Greece. - 10 songs / 60 min.. $8.00

Svartsinn - Elegies for the End 2CD ( Cyclic Law: 26thCycle)
The 4th by Norwegian dark ambient act, Svartsinn, shows a more melodic yet rather obscure side of the artist. 2009 is the 10th year of Svartsinn's existence and it has inspired Pettersen to try a different approach and to experiment with some new ideas. This new musical journey deals with sadness and melancholy, about not knowing one's place in this vast and at times uninviting world, how it can become a daily torment to not be able to find one's reason to exist. And it's also about finding one's personal path, finding ways to endure and hopefully transcend these engulfing life challenges. The Double CD includes a unique collaboration track with Dahlia's Tear and a 10 years anniversary bonus disc containing exclusive remixes by Triarii, Kammarheit, Letum, Life Toward Twilight, Gustaf Hildebrand, Tenebrious, New Risen Throne, MGriffin, Visions and Hovmod. All acts giving very interesting perspectives on some of Svartsinn's previously released tracks, making this second disc a very special homage to the singular world of Svartsinn.Edition of 1000 copies in 8 panel foldout cardboard sleeve.. $12.88

Svartsinn - Of Darkness and Re-Creation ( Cyclic Law: 5th Cycle)
First in a series of collaborations between Cyclic Law and Ewers Tonkunst, this is a re-issue of the long sold out second Svartsinn album from the year 2003. “Of Darkness And Re-Creation” is a “collection of stories based on heavy mind struggles, emotional complicity or elegies which either leads to emptiness or dark places for a re-creation of the self image. Darkness is all around us or inside each and every one of us, let¹s not fear it.. Prosper in darkness...” (from the original edition release notes). Maybe the most hopeless and desperate music ever done by Svartsinn’s mastermind’s Jan Roger Pettersen, it is definitely one of the classical works from this “new” generation of dark ambient artists that were gathered around Cyclic Law in the first decade of 2000. This edition has completely new artwork and new mastering, it is limited to 500 copies and comes in a stylish monochrome mini LP-like cover with inner sleeve, both with silkscreened elements. .. $12.66

Synapscape - Traits ( Ant-Zen: Act267)
Since their debut album, Tim Kniep and Philipp Munch have consistently impressed world wide audiences both on stage and with a wide number of high-octane releases combining distinctive vocal treatments, experimental electronics and rhythmic industrial with a touch of the unexpected - executing their own blend of both pounding beats and complexity. Synapscape's layers of sound reveal themselves in a number of different ways on repeated listens, often with unforeseen results and this mixture of the basic and the detailed has been a constant characteristic on this project's work from day one. On previous albums they mixed in complex idm flavors and technoid beat structures in order to create new points of interest - 'traits' continues this fusion of harshness and subtlety in a most brilliant way.
The album takes the listener into a varied world of rhythmic textures ranging from the complex to straight energetic beat blasts accompanied by a multitude of synth treatments. The moods range from claustrophobic and ice-cold up to a peak of fiery fierce aggression, intensified by tim's versatile use of vocals. Influenced by straight upbeat rhythm-based industrial, electro-clash, intelligent dance music and dark ambient, Synapscape always maintain their own authentic style - from the cold ambience of 'Conditio Sine Qua Non' and 'Hiller' to the pounding bass sequences and disturbing high frequencies of 'Slowdive' and 'Deerstalker', from the crystal clear sequences confronted with distorted beats on 'host' to the fevered singing and sulphurous body sequences on 'Authority's My Son'.
The journey that started 16 years before now, once again finds a remarkable and unique way of continuing on. listen well, and forgive us for worshipping the intellectual mind!. $14.66
