Raison D'Etre - Apres Nous Le Deluge ( Eternal Pride: EPP018)
The dark, atmospheric and energetic mix of choirs, strings, various Fx sounds, heavy drums and tribal sections makes this the seed for the Raison d'être sound trademark that begun with the album 'Prospectus I' in 1993. Released in 1992, 'Aprés nous le Dèluge' became the first official output from Raison d'être when it went available on cassette on the Cold Meat Industry subsidiary label Sound Source. For the first time, 'Aprés nous le Dèluge' is now available as a complete album on CD, with bonus tracks. The original 2-channel analogue only recording was rejected because of the many flaws in the recording quality and mixing balance. To be able to present the best possible sound quality the only way was to go through the process of restoring, re-recording and mixing the material. The reduxing process was extensive and the intention was to recreate the energy and feeling of the original version but still making it well balanced and clear in the mix. Also included are four remixes from an early attempt to recreate the whole album. Only seven of the eleven original tracks album was possible to restore and remix at that time (1995), and with far from satisfactory result. The four selected mixes from 1995 are the ones that differ most compared to the original versions, that's why they are included. In addition there is a previously unreleased track from the same period of time.. $14.88

Raison D'Etre - Collected Works ( Infinite Fog: IF-30)
'Collected Works' is a collection album containing tracks between 1999 and 2010 taken from various compilations or other external projects. Despite that, these tracks form together a unity like if they were material for a conceptual album and present a memorandum of a past. Death, decay, melancholia and sadness are the common attributes and this is also beautifully rendered in the artwork images by Martin Bladh (IRM, Skin Area). His "premature death masks" sequence is based on different aging faces of Peter Andersson and works as the perfect facade for this kind of sonic journey and exposure.. $14.77

Raison D'Etre - Prospectus I (Redux Version) 2CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD173)
Long time sold-out, finally the re-issue of this cult and seminal album! A stunning blend of the modern soft gothic sound and the timeless chants of Catholic rituals. It is at once a beautiful sound, yet also filled with melancholy. Archaic layers of strings, bells and choirs intermingle with heavy drums and industrial loops creating an unsettling and threatening background atmosphere whilst spleen and sweetness forms the foreground.'Prospectus I' became the first CD album by Raison D'être, originally released in 1993 by Cold Meat Industry. In order to celebrate the 20th years anniversary it has now been made available as an enhanced 2CD album. All the sounds have been restored and re-recorded from source and all the tracks have been carefully mixed to maintain the true feeling and atmosphere of the original album but with the modern standards for high quality audio. 'Prospectus I' with related tracks can for the first time be experienced with superior audio quality and well balanced mixes. The first disc mirroring the tracks of the original album and the second disc contains a major selection of tracks from the 'Prospectus I' session previously available on the 'Lost Fragments' and 'Collective Archives' collections.. $16.77

Raison D'Etre - When the Earth Dissolves in Ashes (Live 2010/2011) ( Cold Meat Industry: CMI213)
'When the Earth Dissolves in Ashes' gathers 75 minutes of unique material formerly performed only live at different locations during 2010 and 2011: Zürich, Wuppertal, Rotterdam, Cologne, Leipzig (WGT), Cherkassy and more. The starting point for these live tracks is mainly the sounds used for 'In sadness, Silence and Solitude', 'Metamorphyses' and 'The Stains of the Embodied Sacrifice', which are then looped and mixed together live with on spot improvised sounds, thus shaped them into new, never before heard sonic expressions. 75 minutes, in 6 panel digipak. Biography: Raison d'être formed in 1991 as a tool of expression with the goal of self-realization. Behind the project is the highly respected and multitalented sound artist Peter Andersson. For almost two decades now, and with a vast number of CD releases on the Cold Meat Industry label, raison d'être have been supplying listeners with overwhelming dark ambient industrial landscapes of beauty and sorrow. Listening to raison d'être is like a lucid journey into the dark hidden domains of your inner self. But this is not all. Peter Andersson host not only one but up to nine other projects representing different sides and sounds of the Andersson character. The most well known outside of Raison D'être are Stratvm Terror, Necrophorus, Bocksholm and Atomine Elektrine.. $15.77

Rapoon - Seeds in the Tide Vol. 1 ( Zoharum: Zohar038)
2012 marked the 20th anniversary of Robin Storey's career as a solo artist recording as Rapoon. Since 1992 and the release of his debut album "Dream Circle", Robin has been exploring the potential of post-indusrial ambience enhanced with ethnic sounds of African and Indian origin. From the beginning, a crucial aspect of his creative process has involved the use of trial-and-error techniques inspired by contemporary experimentalist Karlheinz Stockhausen and krautrock giants Can and Faust. With more than 50 releases he has established his reputation in the world of experimental electronics, creating elusive soundscapes too enchanting to ignore. His music, by turns evocative, atmospheric and mesmerizing, has gained devoted followers all over the world, including in Poland, in Zoharum's headquarters. Together with Robin Storey they have prepared this first volume in a series of archive releases celebrating 20 years of Rapoon's existence. "Seeds in the Tide" collects all of the rare tracks released on compilations and short-run limited editions. The first disc in this double CD collection, "Keepsakes and Oddities", contains tracks recorded between 1993 and 1999. The second disc is a reissue of the ultra-limited CDR version of the well-known "Messianicghosts" album. It includes the original versions of the four tracks from that album that are significantly different from their later variants.. $18.00

Rapoon - Time-Loop Anomalies ( Zoharum: Zohar030)
"Time-Loop Anomalies" contains more than an hour of eerie, ethereal music lingering on the borderlands of dreamworld and reality. Robin Storey, the man behind the moniker, delivers another subtle woven masterpiece, both being a bold step into the new world and in the vein of his earlier projects continuing recurring themes in his artistic work. "Time-loop Anomalies" is a collection of short stories put together and given a unifying theme which binds the various elements. The pieces span a wide timescale, but, in the spirit of quantum mechanics, they create new and different perspectives through the workings of chance and composition. 6-panel digipak.. $12.50

Rapoon - Vernal Crossing Revisited 2CD ( Zoharum: Zohar043)
This is the fourth Rapoon release for Polish label Zoharum. "Vernal Crossing Revisted" is a double CD marking the 20th anniversary of "Vernal Crossing", Robin Storey's third album. But it's not a mere reissue. The artist revisited the original and adapted it for the 21 century, hence the title. "Vernal Crossing Revisited" is two sides of the same coin: the first disc is a remastered version of the original album, and the other one is the 2013 reinterpretation of the original. This is Rapoon at its most rhythmic stage. Prepare yourself for the journey to the desert. CD1 - Original 1993 (remastered version), CD2 - Remake 2013 (new version). $18.00

Rasalhague - Rage Inside the Window ( Malignant: TumorCD49)
Following the self released 3inch CDr from a few years back, Rage Inside the Window is the astounding formal debut of Indiana based dark ambient artist Rasalhague, offering some of the most haunting, dread filled, and yet dynamic atmospheres we've come across in some time. Inspired by the true events of a young girl neglectfully imprisoned in filth and squalor by her thoughtless and uncaring mother. Rage Inside the Window takes the listener into the mind of a savagely depraved soul. Don't expect ambient of the spaced out, blissful, and softly textured variety. This is dirty and impenetrably dark, with an intertwining mass of demonic squalls, intense probing, highly ominous tonal drones, distant monolithic pulsations, and bleak isolationism. 6 lengthy tracks of pure psychological horror are presented here, with each piece segueing into each other in transforming waves, progressively getting darker, brooding, and more menacing as it goes. Finally, with the final track, some semblance of solace is achieved. Reference points can be made to Atrium Carceri, recent Raison d'Etre, and the like, but ultimately, Rasalhague operates within its own realm. In 6 panel, full color DVD Digipak. See a video here! Rasthof Dachau - Free Speech Series 3inch ( L-White: LW027/6)
5 tracks on this one. Pretty classically styled industrial
deep, pulsing heavy electronic atmospheres with a threatening, tension filled edge, some rhythmic elements, and muted, but strong vocals. The last three tracks are particularly strong, upping the aggression level with hard, looping rhythms and thick, penetrating frequency drones. Gets better as it goes, this may be my favorite of the newest Free Speech batch. Part 6 of the series. $13.75

Rasthof Dachau - Prison Poems ( Steinklang: SK36)
The first new full length record in seven years, Prison Poems" is a conceptual work about the Irish civil-rights movement of the 1970s. This album deals with the fate of a handful of young IRA hunger strikers, imprisoned for political affairs, but then simply sentenced as criminals. Most of the text on this album is taken from poems written by one of the strikers - on toilet and cigarette paper with the refill of a biro-pen, hidden inside his body in the years before he died. Confrontational and provocative heavy electronics with hard rhythms and pulsations, persistent, grinding loops, and cold, uneasy analog frequencies. At its best when it slows down and comes off as something Galakthorroe-ish, riding a vibe of isolation and angst, well in tune with the concept and theme.. $9.00

Reductio Ad Absurdum was one of the first Industrial projects that appeared in Russia in 1994, existing until the end of the '90s and recording a dozen or so recordings of monotonous and evil Industrial albums in the vein of M.B., Lille Roger, Murder Corporation. Those bore excruciating aesthetics of Soviet rot and necroconformism. Resignation - 1897 ( 205 Recordings: 205REC777)
Icy winds blowing in from the north as a blizzard is approaching. An old 78 rpm acetate record stuck in a scratch.Fading memories of brave men and grand ideas. The relentless beat of a lonely drummachine. All these elements are important parts of the unique soundpalette of Resignation.Consisting of Sweden´s most prolific musician Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Folkstorm, Toroidh, HH9, Econocon, Vargar, Marvargr...) and debutant N-G Ekholm, the newly formed constellation is pushing the boundaries of what both ambient and techno (?) is all about. "We are inspired by the final word in the Swedish hero SA Andrée´s diary -"Resignation" and want to recreate the sound of that era of great exploaration and bravery, but in a modern way." NG EkholmCold, nostalgic sounding ambience mixed with melancholic orchestrationswith a minimalistic heartbeat like "rhythm" (and I use that term loosely) gently pulsating in the background. Surpisingly good.. $13.33

RJF - Greater Success in Apprehension & Convictions ( Segerhuva: Seger24)
The most extreme and outstanding music from Sweden. Desire, despair, disgust, destruction & death - The Sound of RJF. This is the real thing, no false grace or hypocrisy. RJF get their inspiration from the sickness of mankind. This is not about music, this is survival and fighting back. A cock down the throat of morality. A knife in the back of society. RJF create their own values. Control & Knowledge."From the original 1983 press release. We might not have put it as poetic but when we found the old press release we couldn't resist the beauty of the text. The sounds on this disc drag you all the way back to the chilly gutters of early 80's fierce electronics. Menacing and mechanical noises, grating rhythms pick on your nerve endings, this is a sinister reminder that something was alive back then, something that is missing now. This CD-reissue of the old LP has been re-mastered from vinyl since the master tapes are missing and is packaged in a 12-page booklet A5 sleeve with lots of pictures, liner notes by Kristian Olsson and original art made by Leif Thuresson. Edition of 500 copies. Roger Karmanik of CMI/BDN has this to say about this record: "This is a must for anyone into industrial music and with abit of nostalgic feeling - this was a cult release already when it came out 1983 - if you are into Lille Roger or early days of Brighter Death Now then you should definitely have this one - even though Lustmord, TG and SPK had a lot of influence on me - this LP, being Swedish and all, also made its trick when I recorded some of the Lille Roger stuff.". $14.33

Robe. - Bleak ( Crucial Blast: Blaze01)
Seventy-five minutes of rumbling, creeping ambience and oozing, blackened bottom end raked with the blare of distant horns, smeared trumpets echoing across a vast ocean of black sludge, evil screeching violins time-stretched into endless drones, an immensely oppressive and threatening atmosphere drifting over formless glacial guitar/bass grind like plumes of pungent black smoke. It's like hearing corroded, distressed blasts of orchestral sound, broken and warped BM guitars and clanking machinery rotting beneath massive waves of low-end heaviness; the same reference points that I used for their Remains Of A Burning World apply equally here (Abruptum's Casus Luciferi, Neuntoter Der Plage, and Aderlating's most atmospheric moments), but leaning even more towards a sort of surrealistic industrial nightmare.. $9.00

Roma Amor - Occhi Neri ( Old Europa Café: OECD146)
I've always thought you had to be Italian (or in the very least, live somewhere along the Mediterranean) to "get" the whole Italian neo-cabaret thing, and while I can't say I'll ever be on board, there is a genuineness to what Roma Amor does that catapults them ahead of most anyone else. Somewhere between the melodic folk-inflected charm of Italian 60’s songwriters and the cabaret swoon of French chansonniers, Roma Amor’s new album is instinctively romantic and sophisticated. This album will seduce you with its summer-evening mellowness before breaking your heart with its beautifully sensual croon. Wonderful ballads and torch songs about love inspired by the epic, fatalistic rugged grandeur of Aznavour, Brel, Piaf, and 60’s Italian songwriters, though in a much quieter and more delicate setting. The album is sung in Italian with some French touches and the songs are from Roma Amor’s own harvest. The result isn't experimental or innovative, but an acoustic and intimate album for fans of well-crafted singer-songwriting.Retro chic pale-blue digipak packaging with all lyrics included.. $14.99

Rome - Fester CDEP ( Trisol: TRI457)
Festeris a ritual fight with one’s own personal demons, a journey not devoid of self-derision. These twilight songs are like a glimpse into a world of otherness. Rome was founded on forward motion („Bewegung entsteht durch Haltung“) and like a true moloch it expels its dead. With 8 critically acclaimed and remarkable (concept) albums in as many years, Rome have built a considerable following in the world’s darker musical scenes. Yet, the myth of this Rome is cast in the future tense. This Rome remains vibrant and far removed from the shorthand of conventional imagery, from the distortion of nostalgia – the inarticulate contempt for the present and fear of the future. On Fester this contempt is quite articulate and one can taste the fear that lies at the root of it all. This record brings Rome back to the city, back to the gutter and into the actual world of its author, Jerome Reuter: a world where the sacred and profound, history and eternity, man and god remain completely separated. Musically Fester offers a mixture of what might be termed Murder Folk and Junky Ballads, far removed from the martial drum beats and retrosampling – yet more anger-fueled than ever before. Featuring two tracks from the upcoming album Hell Money (in an exclusive alternate version), one exclusive track and a stripped-bare remodeling of the Rome classic „Le Vertige Du Vide“ –done Fester-style!. $13.00

Rome - Hell Money ( Trisol: TRI458)
„Hell Money“ is different. You’ve probably known ROME as an entity creating an invigorating meta-political, para-religious universe, functioning according to its own code and incorporating all kinds of elements from history to philosophy and musical expressions into one catchy collection of songs within an industrial-ish, brainy collage. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve most likely heard Jerome’s voice as coming from the depths of pan-European wisdom, toying with poetic elements from expressionism to post-modernism, with each word of poetry sucking you way more into a sweet world of oblivion, a soothing chanson crooner indebted to the traditions American and European folk. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve come to love ROME’s concept collages, shedding new light on the realities of the world and its history, whilst giving a voice to the downtrodden. „Hell Money“ is –yet again– different. „Hell Money“ is an emotional tour-de-force through the twisted inner workings of a tormented individual. A journey into a heart of sadness, where greed, addiction and self-immolation have taken their toll on sanity. The songs remain fragmentary and crude. The voice on this album is not the voice of reason, it is an individual unashamed, yet deeply tormented by the demons that have come to haunt it. The music is built primarily by an anger-driven acoustic guitar and a voice bereft of poetic hipness. No martial drums, no retro-sampling, but drums and sampling nonetheless. „Hell Money“ is sparse, crude, intimate, sick... and ultimately honest.. $14.33

Rome - Nos Chants Perdus ( Trisol: TRI383)
After their EP L’Assassin, Rome develop their sound further on the minimalistic, simple singer-songwriter album Nos Chants Perdus, slowly leaving the apocalyptic realms behind. Catchy melodies impress themselves on the memory. The sonorous voice bears the weltschmerz as well as the yearning for freedom and peace. Apart from the French song titles the lyrics are primarily performed in English, while the music is constructed primarily with acoustic instruments: piano, guitar, touches of strings, accordion. They have largely relinquished electronic elements, which marks Nos Chants Perdus out as a further stride in the work of the band. First limited edition in Deluxe Hardcover-book, found in linen with special black hotfoil debossing and 40 pages extra-booklet, plus a semi-matte art print on high-quality paper and with elaborate "Singer" thread stitching· Includes all lyrics and photographs by Achim Webel.. $16.50

Roto Visage - Where the Mandrakes Grow ( Autumn Wind Productions: AWP028)
From Crucial Blast: "Another album of skincrawling death ambient shrouded in mystery from Autumn Winds, Where The Mandrakes Grow appears to be the first actual cd from the Cali artist Jason Popejoy, who records his hellish ambient landscapes under the name Roto Visage. Prior to this, Roto Visage has cranked out a pretty sizeable catalog of releases both in the realm of digital-only Mp3 downloads that have circulated throughout the net, and small-edition CDR titles on labels like Beast Of Prey and Bone Structure. I haven't heard any of his earlier recordings yet, but Where The Mandrakes Grow shows this guy to be a skilled architect of deeply disturbing, often downright frightening death ambience. The disc comes in a posh six-panel digipack that has some really wild photo-collage artwork from Anastasia Sarandou that looks like a mix of Lynchian surrealism and Clive Barker's flesh-rending visions, and which sets the stage for the nightmare sonics that come pouring off of this album once it starts. There are eight tracks, most averaging around six minutes but with a few epics reaching twelve or more minutes in length, and each documents a descent into a stygian underworld of sound filled with massive cavernous rumblings, crushing distorted klaxon blasts that are so heavy they almost sound like metallic powerchords grinding in the distance, seriously creepy spoken word parts that are delivered either by a demonic raspy whisper or a slurred moan, as if the speaker is lost in a trance-state. There's a definite Lustmord feel to much of this, but Popejoy brings his own unique language of dread to the pieces, incorporating grinding industrial loops buried under miles of metallic shimmer, fragments of haunting orchestral melody, recordings of footsteps or something heavy echoing through endless corridors, washes of pitch-black cosmic synthesizer, and samples of someone frantically gasping for air, the latter appearing in a couple of spots and which ties in to the themes of auto-erotic asphyxiation that are part of the concept behind these recordings. It's an intensely unsettling album that nevertheless reveals moments of stunning sonic beauty from within the drifting black shadows and terrifying sound events that populate these soundscapes. Fans of the really dark ambient/industrial stuff like Yen Pox, Lustmord, R|A|A|N, the Aural hypnox school of ritualistic black drift, Megaptera and Inanna will love this. Mastered by ambient master Robert Rich, and limited to 1,000 copies.". $6.00

RU-486 - Hook and Barb Pt. 1 3inch CDr ( Destructive Industries: DI042)
3" inch CDs don't sell worth shit around here, which I sort of understand, but then, you get something like Hook and Barb, and well, if you're into power electronics and don't get this because of the format, that's your fucking loss. 2 tracks clocking in at nearly 21 minutes showcasing further steps into the project’s now more mature style. The first track is a 9 minute piece built around a syncopated, looping rhythm, augmented byreverbed drenched, almost shamanic vocals and a buzzing, pulsating drone. Collectively, it's incredibly hypnotic...ethereal and intoxicating, yet ominous and powerful. Definitely has a mid-era Genocide Organ vibe to it, and if it's indicative of what RU-486 will be doing in the future, I will be paying serious attention. The 2nd track is a collaboration with Gordon Lazarus of Defiler and Unit 371 fame. More traditional heavy electronics here... a blackened industrial steamroller full of rotten undertones and a true pairing of two mad minds engaged for battle. You won’t survive this fight…. $6.00
