Raison D'Etre - Collected Works ( Infinite Fog: IF-30)
'Collected Works' is a collection album containing tracks between 1999 and 2010 taken from various compilations or other external projects. Despite that, these tracks form together a unity like if they were material for a conceptual album and present a memorandum of a past. Death, decay, melancholia and sadness are the common attributes and this is also beautifully rendered in the artwork images by Martin Bladh (IRM, Skin Area). His "premature death masks" sequence is based on different aging faces of Peter Andersson and works as the perfect facade for this kind of sonic journey and exposure.. $12.67

Raison d'Etre - In Sadness, Silence, and Solitude (Expanded Edition) 2CD ( Retortae: Elixir4)
This re-release of 'In Sadness, Silence and Solitude' studio album from 1997, remastered in 2013, is now an expanded version with an extra disc.
Mammoth stone walls stretching high into the unknown, dank cellars strewn with bones and ahses. A chill in the lonely night wind disturbed by the utterance of arcane phrases. This is music guaranteed to at least bring about thoughts of mysticism, if it doesn't produce mystical states outright. This defines the term hauntingly beautiful. 'In Sadness, Silence And Solitude', first released in 1997 on the now defunct CMI label is the fourth full-length album of Raison D'etre and is yet another astonishing dark ambient industrial masterpiece.
This time, ’In Sadness, Silence an Solitude’ has been considerably expanded with additional material and made it into a double disc set featuring a bunch of unique, previously unreleased compositions, live material and compilation tracks; everything connected to the same period of time of the original album.
Sorry, this one's a bit expensive. $15.66

Raison D'Etre - Mise en Abyme ( Drone: TR-10)
Re-stock! Transgredient Records is very proud to release the newest studio-work by this well known Swedish ambient industrial project, continually renewing the dark ambient genre since 1992.
"Mise en Abyme" is the first Raison d'etre studio album in over 4 years, following a very special "initiation concept" with an emphasis on the experience of sequential psychological states with cathartic effects - diving into the deepest regions of the subconscious in order to return with a fresh and 'empty' mind. All the previously beloved elements of Raison d'etres music are here: spacious deep drones, touching sacral choirs, ritualistic sounds from gongs and bells and other awesome integrated field / object recordings - all impressively enhanced to reach a new level of masterful atmospheric composition. Moving from dramatic tension and threatening uproar to meditative beauty, this near hour long album reveals various changes and details, while always sounding monolithic (all of one piece), expressing almost unbearable sensations of melancholy, vastness and contemplation. The idea behind this album, in the words of the artist: " 'Mise en Abyme' is an inner journey down to the most hidden and dark parts of the Self. 'Mise en Abyme' literally means 'placed into the abyss' and conceptually the album contains ingredients from 'The Divine Comedy' by Dante or any similar stories/myths around the katabasis theme. Instead of being linked to religion, history or morality, it is purely a psychological and therapeutic trip to the underworld, investigating the subconscious. But even in the darkest and chaotic places in the depths, there are small shades of light, hope and understanding; one can be enlightened and purified upon returning to the conscious world."

Raison D'Etre - Tales From the Tabula Rosa (early works 1988-1991) 2CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD200)
'Tales from the Tabula Rasa' presents raison d'être in its earliest form, when there was no past and only future. This was the birth of raison d'être and the creative music mind of Peter Andersson. In one way it can be seen as the first particles to the seed that later became the established raison d'être sound in the 1990's. In the other way it can be seen as the evil twin seed that was left to die in an early stage, like if it was a stillborn or an infanticide. Nevertheless it is a period of time that can not completely be forgotten; a time when the first chapter of raison d'être was written. The music is heavily influenced by ancient myths, legends, religion, philosophy and history. The output is referred to tales rather than songs. There is a story told in each and every sequence.
Most of the material is previously unreleased on CD but some are known from the collection album 'Reflections From the Time of Opening'. Almost all the tracks are taken from three unofficial cassette releases from 1991, the year when raison d'être was born. A small portion is even earlier, from a pre-raison d'être project called D:Combe, active between 1988-1990. All material has been reworked in 2014. To the large extent the tracks are still the same, only some very annoying sounds or parts have been removed, and mainly orchestral sound samples have been replaced with better and more expressive versions. Six tracks from the original cassettes were exluded on the CD-set since they were too irritating. The exclusion made place for the D:Combe material which has been undergoing a more cosmetic treatment through a harmonized reverb becoming more hypnotic and dronelike. The fragments presented here are from the most experimental recordings, and the normal D:Combe sound was far from this, but still very primitive. Also changed is a pair of known track titles, they have returned to their original idea of spelling.. $15.66

Raison d'Etre - The Luminous Experience (Live in Enschende 2008) ( Cold Meat Industry: CMI188)
'The Luminous Experience', recorded on the darkest hour of Midsummer night 2008 in Enschede (The Netherlands), is the first complete live album from Raison d'être featuring the whole set of one concert. The live set mainly contains live only material: a mixture of composed and improvised elements that hav never been experienced on CD before. Present here are also some live adapted compositions from the albums 'The Empty Hollow Unfolds' and 'Metamorphyses'. 'The Luminous Experience' is the 11th original album by raison d'être since their first album 'Prospectus I', released 15 years ago. An embrace of dark, enveloping textures, and noiser, more industrial sounds; factory din, machine clangor, and heavy, atmospherics.. $13.66

Raison D'Etre - When the Earth Dissolves in Ashes (Live 2010/2011) ( Cold Meat Industry: CMI213)
'When the Earth Dissolves in Ashes' gathers 75 minutes of unique material formerly performed only live at different locations during 2010 and 2011: Zürich, Wuppertal, Rotterdam, Cologne, Leipzig (WGT), Cherkassy and more. The starting point for these live tracks is mainly the sounds used for 'In sadness, Silence and Solitude', 'Metamorphyses' and 'The Stains of the Embodied Sacrifice', which are then looped and mixed together live with on spot improvised sounds, thus shaped them into new, never before heard sonic expressions. 75 minutes, in 6 panel digipak.
Biography: Raison d'être formed in 1991 as a tool of expression with the goal of self-realization. Behind the project is the highly respected and multitalented sound artist Peter Andersson. For almost two decades now, and with a vast number of CD releases on the Cold Meat Industry label, raison d'être have been supplying listeners with overwhelming dark ambient industrial landscapes of beauty and sorrow. Listening to raison d'être is like a lucid journey into the dark hidden domains of your inner self. But this is not all. Peter Andersson host not only one but up to nine other projects representing different sides and sounds of the Andersson character. The most well known outside of Raison D'être are Stratvm Terror, Necrophorus, Bocksholm and Atomine Elektrine.. $14.66

Raison D'Etre - Within the Depths of Silence and Phormations Redux Version 2CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD183)
'Within the Depths of Silence and Phormations' is an expedition into the hidden parts of the inner self and is bridging feelings of deep melancholy to blissful joy as it seeks for the true essence of human existence. Original released in 1995 by Cold Meat Industry the album has now been restored, re-recorded and mixed to render the modern standard of sound quality yet maintaining the perfect balance between subtle and harsh, dark and pure of the original mix.

Continues in the same tradition as previous works, only expands on them in almost every aspect; the symphonic orchestrations are even more lavish, the ghostly atmospheres twice as haunting, , the moods as gorgeous and as dark as you could ever want or hope them to be. Moving and limitless in it’s ability to awaken deep, spiritually stirring emotions with every listen.
The album comes in a 6-panel digipak with awesome photos by Martín Pels.Mastered according to the K-14 level standard.. $15.66

Raison D'’Etre - Requiem for Abandoned Souls (Expanded) 2CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD198)
The expanded edition of 'Requiem for Abandoned Souls' contains the original disc with a bonus track and a second disc with material from various live performances from 2003 and 2004. As with the original release (Cold Meat Industry 2003) the artwork consists of images of abandoned places photographed by Henk van Rensbergen, but instead of being presented with five different layouts all the original images are included in the one and only layout. 'Requiem for Abandoned Souls' is a kind of climax, a career peak that all previous albums pointed up to, where the music sets a perfect backdrop for the theme as spelled out by the album title. The key to understanding Andersson's vision for this album lies in the track titles; read separately, or taken together as a poem. The toll of a church bell escorts the listener on an existential voyage through the world according to Raison d'être, a bleak place populated by shadowy souls abandoned of all hope. But don't let that scare you away, because this remarkably beautiful collection of songs is a true remedy in this age of chaos; when the outside withers away, the inside fills with emptiness, and there's nothing left to believe in.As with the paths previously forged, sacral and arcane religious undertones permeate all aspects of the music. Awash with reverberating drones, metallic nuisances, discordant chimes, haunting chorals and sub- orchestral movements, the forlorn atmospheres unfold over the expanse of the tracks.. $16.66

Ramleh - Circular Time 2CD ( Crucial Blast: CBR115)
It’s been nearly 20 years since the last full-length album from Ramleh operating in “rock” mode, but the sprawling new double album Circular Time sees these British noise rock legends deliver their most intense work since re-emerging from extended hiatus.
One of the key bands to emerge from the British post-industrial underground of the early 1980s alongside their Broken Flag label-mates Skullflower, Ramleh continually shifted between the extreme, confrontational power electronics of their early material and their later forays into searing, lysergic noise rock, right up until they went inactive in the late 1990s. The group re-emerged later the following decade with a number of reissues and new releases, but up until now, nearly all of the new material indulged their harsh noise tendencies. With this massive new album, these distortion masters (now comprised of founding member Gary Mundy, longtime member Anthony Di Franco and new drummer Martyn Watts) return with nearly two hours of speaker-shredding, void-gazing psychedelia, pushing the pummeling, Hawkwindian meltdowns heard on classic ’90s-era albums like Be Careful What You Wish For and Shooters Hill into realms of total obliteration.
Forged from a simple but savage combination of pummeling drumming, monstrously overloaded synthesizers and elliptical, sludge-encrusted bass riffs that anchor the squalls of brutal, electrified guitar noise, Ramleh’s sound is hypnotically crushing. Heavy, zoned-out drone-rock grooves are unleashed amid gales of sky-scorching guitar noise, with epic psych-shred workouts stretched out across storms of nebular effects. Distant vocals howl beneath sheets of shimmering guitar, and streaks of twisted, mutant dub materialize within some of the album’s catchier moments. It’s dark, often brutal music, but also shot through with moments of sweeping, apocalyptic beauty, building to the powerful back-to-back finale of “Weird Tyranny” and “Never Returner” that are as utterly blasted and majestic as anything heard from Ramleh in the band’s thirty-some-year existence.. $12.99

2012 marked the 20th anniversary of Robin Storey's career as a solo artist recording as Rapoon. Since 1992 and the release of his debut album "Dream Circle", Robin has been exploring the potential of post-indusrial ambience enhanced with ethnic sounds of African and Indian origin. From the beginning, a crucial aspect of his creative process has involved the use of trial-and-error techniques inspired by contemporary experimentalist Karlheinz Stockhausen and krautrock giants Can and Faust. With more than 50 releases he has established his reputation in the world of experimental electronics, creating elusive soundscapes too enchanting to ignore. His music, by turns evocative, atmospheric and mesmerizing, has gained devoted followers all over the world, including in Poland, in Zoharum's headquarters. Together with Robin Storey they have prepared this first volume in a series of archive releases celebrating 20 years of Rapoon's existence. Rapoon & Promute - Machine River CD ( Zoharum: Zohar079-2)
Not only is Robin Storey aka Rapoon a very prolific solo artist, but also he collaborates with many musicians from all over the world. He has already worked with Mykel Boys, Wyrm, Pas Musique, Kinder Atom, Cisfinitum, Pacific 231 et al. This time he teamed up with Shaun Sandor aka Promute to create 8 haunting tracks.
This is the story of their meeting in the words of Shaun Sandor: This collaboration between Rapoon and Promute is a direct result of the 2011 Endless Form Tour. For several nights in a row in different cities I sat in a swirling mist of sound conjured by Rapoon. The music easily generated notions of timelessness and seductive landscapes. In all of this, I was realizing that the electro-acoustic set that I was performing seemed to be a natural compliment to the music of Rapoon. I created several dozen tracks of homemade instruments, prepared guitar and bass, and sitar and sent them to Robin Storey to manipulate, process and edit. I asked my friend Des Kashyap to contribute some vocals as well, and he agreed. Robin added his music and vocals as well and did the arranging and mixing.

Rasalhague - Rage Inside the Window ( Malignant: TumorCD49)
Following the self released 3inch CDr from a few years back, Rage Inside the Window is the astounding formal debut of Indiana based dark ambient artist Rasalhague, offering some of the most haunting, dread filled, and yet dynamic atmospheres we've come across in some time.
Inspired by the true events of a young girl neglectfully imprisoned in filth and squalor by her thoughtless and uncaring mother. Rage Inside the Window takes the listener into the mind of a savagely depraved soul. Don't expect ambient of the spaced out, blissful, and softly textured variety. This is dirty and impenetrably dark, with an intertwining mass of demonic squalls, intense probing, highly ominous tonal drones, distant monolithic pulsations, and bleak isolationism. 6 lengthy tracks of pure psychological horror are presented here, with each piece segueing into each other in transforming waves, progressively getting darker, brooding, and more menacing as it goes. Finally, with the final track, some semblance of solace is achieved. Reference points can be made to Atrium Carceri, recent Raison d'Etre, and the like, but ultimately, Rasalhague operates within its own realm.
In 6 panel, full color DVD Digipak.

Rasthof Dachau - Prison Poems ( Steinklang: SK36)
The first new full length record in seven years, Prison Poems" is a conceptual work about the Irish civil-rights movement of the 1970s. This album deals with the fate of a handful of young IRA hunger strikers, imprisoned for political affairs, but then simply sentenced as criminals. Most of the text on this album is taken from poems written by one of the strikers - on toilet and cigarette paper with the refill of a biro-pen, hidden inside his body in the years before he died. Confrontational and provocative heavy electronics with hard rhythms and pulsations, persistent, grinding loops, and cold, uneasy analog frequencies. At its best when it slows down and comes off as something Galakthorroe-ish, riding a vibe of isolation and angst, well in tune with the concept and theme.. $13.00

RAUHNACHT is a dark journey through deep forests and misty mountains, full of Alpine Battle Hymns and grim Martial Anthems for mountain trolls. Re-DrUm/B°tong - Split ( Zoharum: Zohar065-2)
Split album between Russian RE-DRUM and Swiss B°TONG. Each project has prepared 30 minutes for this special release.
Avid Zoharum observers already know Pavel Aleshin's project called Re-DrUm. 5 years ago we released his album "S" and it was our 7th release. In the meantime, he has been touring extensively plus released one full album, a digital EP and offered his music on a split release with Rovar17. Now Pavel returns to Zoharum with 3 new tracks of contemplative nature. They are full of slow acoustic sounds and field recordings. His sound on "Hush!" is less droney than on "S", but much more organic and laid-back.
The second part of this release belongs to Chris Sigdell and his renowned project b°tong. In contrast to Re-DrUm, "Ascending in the Light of an Alien Sun" is a different affair - a dark, brooding affair full of oily drones and treated sounds. Again, composed of 3 songs, it takes you on a trip to the desolate factory inhabited with ghosts of its previous owners.

Roma Amor - Una Torbida Estate CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD207)
“Una Torbida Estate” is where Roma Amor have particularly conveyed their love for movie soundtracks from 70’s erotic, thrilling, action or exotic film music to minimalist scores themes.
Roma Amor create a sort of cinematic atmosphere with their typical emphasis on deep romantic lyrics, Euski’s catchy deep melodies with harmonic figures in different vocal lines and Candela’s repetitive accordion patterns developed through small melodic cells.
The lyrics follow the heart’s beating rhythms and the soundscapes of the music, featuring loads of sentimental feelings influenced by Emily Dickinson, Italo Calvino, Antonia Pozzi, Mogol with the accent on love and sensual themes.
The musical texture is enriched by some special guests: § the violinist Matt Howden, remarkable for his use of looped strings in the song “Inverno”
§ Matteo Carnio’s electric guitar with his touch in the title track “Una Torbida Estate” as well as in “Battiti”, “A Tus Besos”, “Lies”, "Il Cuore"
§ Maestro Zabberoni, the man with the harmonica in “Der Treue Husar” and “Amsterdam” and with his flamenco guitar in the song “Mucho Mas Que Ayer” § brother Andrea Candela at the drums and Mirko at the piano in “Tu…Ancora Tu”.
The tracklist includes original songs written by the duo Euski-Candela, with lyrics in different languages (Italian, Spanish, English, German), a rarefied version in three languages of the traditional song “Der Treue Husar” (love lost on the Italian front - to commemorate the centenary of Italy entering the First World War) and Jacques Brel’s Amsterdam, that is always on Roma Amor lives, now on CD.

Rome - Hell Money ( Trisol: TRI458)
„Hell Money“ is different. You’ve probably known ROME as an entity creating an invigorating meta-political, para-religious universe, functioning according to its own code and incorporating all kinds of elements from history to philosophy and musical expressions into one catchy collection of songs within an industrial-ish, brainy collage. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve most likely heard Jerome’s voice as coming from the depths of pan-European wisdom, toying with poetic elements from expressionism to post-modernism, with each word of poetry sucking you way more into a sweet world of oblivion, a soothing chanson crooner indebted to the traditions American and European folk. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve come to love ROME’s concept collages, shedding new light on the realities of the world and its history, whilst giving a voice to the downtrodden. „Hell Money“ is –yet again– different. „Hell Money“ is an emotional tour-de-force through the twisted inner workings of a tormented individual. A journey into a heart of sadness, where greed, addiction and self-immolation have taken their toll on sanity. The songs remain fragmentary and crude. The voice on this album is not the voice of reason, it is an individual unashamed, yet deeply tormented by the demons that have come to haunt it. The music is built primarily by an anger-driven acoustic guitar and a voice bereft of poetic hipness. No martial drums, no retro-sampling, but drums and sampling nonetheless. „Hell Money“ is sparse, crude, intimate, sick... and ultimately honest.. $6.00

Rotat - Carnal Beauty CD ( Freak Animal: RCBFACD1)
After hearing this great recording of ROTAT, Freak Animal decided that merely around dozen copies as self financed tape isn't enough. What we have here, is full length CD version of Carnal Beauty. Unusual case in Finnish noise at this era, announcing influences like TAINT and SMELL & QUIM. Providing both sleaxy and grim as well as deranged sense of black humor. It is hard to put ROTAT into narrow category. It goes from harsh and brutal noise to power electronics, with lots of primitive sounds and electronic damage. It is ugly and disturbing recording.. $12.77
