Each tape is associated with a letter of the alphabet, each letter is associated with an artist, each letter gives birth to an unwanted word. The music is the artist's personal vision of silence. Each tape is hand numbered and limited to 100 copies. Andrea is perhaps better known for his work as dark ambient act Amon and to a lesser degree Nimh. For Z, he goes more lo-fi and rough around the edges, creating a drone based piece of singular, yet powerful sustained feedback on side A and then going deeper, and more minimalistic on side B, with a bed of gentle rumblings overlayed with shimmering texturals and debris.. $5.00

Two previously released demos compiled onto one tape, from this English newcomer, deftly operating in the field of heavy electronics and self-proclaimed death ambient. Pretty harrowing stuff - walls of deep, textured noise, blackened murk, and buried debris, remaining very atmospheric even as some of the tones seem to strain and crumble under immense pressure and weight. A steady stream of spoken word (all detailed in the liner notes) whisper underneath, adding a layer of sound and complexity to an already layered and complex work. If you could imagine a hypothetical hybrid of Gruntsplatter and Contrastate, you might begin to get an idea of what Cauldhame creates. Lmtd 50.. $10.50

As Below So Above compiles two live sets from Helsinki. The first is a gee-up of the noise faithful in the Erratic Sporadicism bunker, breaks in the assault provoking catcalls for further shrapnel, while the second is a tactical takedown of a less expecting audience at Helsinki Music Centre, their heads torn off by a shiveringly violent barrage which leaves the surviving politely applauding as they retreat in fear. Marco Corbelli AKA Atrax Morgue operated with a sharp and simple style, producing tape after tape of clear-cut death industrial paying homage to his various obsessions. The combination of sickly sine waves and a leering vocal haze resonated with a certain starkness that feels unmatched, showing that often less is more. A master of ambiguous slithering noise, he was one of the pioneering death industrial artists of the early 90s up until his suicide. The taboo subjects that Corbelli explored may have been explicitly perverse to most, but under the core he knew no better way to put them right in your face to judge for yourself.

Five bedroom black / noise / doom acts take on Swedish pop group Army Of Lovers, each doing a cover. Opening with the fingernails to the chalkboard that is Deadravenchoir, blackened folk racket, followed by Josh Lay doing a creepy surreal interpretation that is peerless in style, black-noise pop? Ending the first side is Gnaw Their Tongues, whose black metal riffs are so distorted that they are nothing more than background texture to the shrieks and growls. Opening up the second side is Persistence In Mourning, who lay down a thick track of sample-ridden doom, and closing with the always beyond dreary Wolfmangler, appropriately Smolken's final track, "Carry My Urn To Ukraine", for Wolfmangler, and "Crucified" for Deadravenchoir. Comes packaged with a black vinyl glove, a two-panel insert, horizontal and vertical slips all in metallic green cardstock with black and red offset printing. Hi-bias chrome tapes with silver labels.
