Hall of Mirrors - Altered Nights 2CD ( Malignant: TumorCD54)
3rd CD from the acclaimed dark ambient collaboration between Andrea Marutti ( Amon, Never Known, among others) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh). Spread out over two CDs and totaling over 100 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb here; organic, textural ambience that’s murky and abstract, uncurling like tendrils of smoke before coalescing into a simulacrum of shadowy figures, to turbulent, more immersive post industrial sounds that prowl the depths of subterranean caverns and forgotten, still radioactive ruins. At its core, this is dark ambient, but with its roughly edged, mildly corrosive machine edges and cascading factory whir, Hall of Mirrors moves into a much more active and cerebral sonic realm. Features contributions from Vestigial , New Risen Throne, and Pietro Riparbelli/ K11, among others. 2 discs in 6 panel eco-wallet, with 4 tracks on one disc, and one 45 minute track on the second. A must for fans of Troum, Terra Sancta, early Zoviet France, and of course all related Andrea Marutti projects.. $12.00

Halo Manash - Language of Red Goats ( Aural Hypnox: AH09)
New CD from the always amazing Halo Manash. Here's what part of the press release had to say: "Language of Red Goats is a complete work in itself, but can also be viewed as the first facet of a tripartite series of works that are part of one holistic creation three faces of the same being. More akin to a primitive fieldrecording in the realm of oneirotropic exploration, than an actual album, the work consists of one lengthy tripartite soundscape. Utilizing only gongs, bells, metal bowls and wind instruments, as well as flocks of birds, the work is in contrast to earlier more refined works that feature a wide multiplicity of instruments and soundsources. Language of Red Goats is a bare, primitive and sometimes raw aural landscape, and yet nonetheless achieves a rare subliminal intensity and an edge of otherwordly luminosity". In simpler terms, this is a more minimalistic record, no doubt, no less incredible. Language of Red Goats is a ritual performed in three long parts utilizing only gongs, metal bowls, bells, and wind instruments as well as field recordings of birds and results in a bare sometimes raw aural landscape with subliminal intensity. The deep and powerful resonance goes directly into your body vibrating the veins and gives a relaxing massage to the brain. The cavernous sound is trembling the body, preparing you for deeper intuitions and knowledge of the self. Let the resonance drift you away in deep dreams to get in touch with the subconciousness and give control to it. Slow and haunting, full of resonant tones, ritual nuances, and cavernous drifts. This is one to hunker down with in the dark and just let it envelope you and the room. Terrific...but then, I expected nothing less!. $13.50

Halo Manash - Taiwaskivi CD/DVD ( Aural Hypnox: AH12)
As winter hibernation and spring awakening gives way to summer, Halo Manash rises radiant into luminosity, with wings spread into all worlds, and brings forth Taiwaskivi, an opulent work of solar ambience and primordial Ur-music. Taiwaskivi, a work of sonic flame and aural ash, consists of seven interrelated tracks, utilizing such diverse instrumentation as organ, horns, vocals, drums, gongs, percussions and various string instruments as well as field-recordings captured during the pilgrimage that the creation of the work embodies. An air of finality abounds, as Taiwaskivi, although a complete work in itself, can also be viewed as the third and final facet of a tripartite series of works that are part of one holistic creation – a treelogy, with seed, root, trunk and finally, branches. Being the culmination of an ascending journey through the aforementioned realms within and without, Taiwaskivi is the celestial crown at the peak, reaching toward Sol, source and beyond; it is the leaves and fruit of the branches and their skybound nectar ever-flowing - the sacred fire, the consummation and conjunction of All. Comes in a hand finished cardboard booklet. Lmtd edition with DVD and inserts, lmtd 500 copies.. $15.50

Harvest Rain - Gentile Peasantry ( Rage in Eden: Rage93)
This album, limited to 333 copies, is the sister album to Harvest Rain's "Blood Hymns". It also contains the original members of Harvest Rain. The songs were recorded during the same Yuletide - Winter Solstice Sessions as the tracks on "Blood Hymns". Project leader Jason on this album: 'This album was in fact the original album that I had released under the moniker of "Cain River" instead of Harvest Rain. It was my first attempt at playing Harvest Rain with electric guitars, drums and record what one could call a "rock" or "dark wave" album instead of being strictly limited to dark folk. The album is inspired by Miguel Serrano just as Blood Hymns was and is. The extra tracks were recorded mostly during the same sessions, but kept off of any albums." Harvest Rain is the musical project of Jason Thompkins. Members include Axel Frank of the German neofolk group Werkraum and also Jamey Thompkins, Jason's younger brother. They are one of the most respected US dark folk acts.. $14.33

Havan - Yajna ( Cyclic Law: 55thCycle)

New project from Frederic Arbour (VISIONS). Havan (Fire Sacrifice) aims to explore spontaneous forms of aural explorations through instinctive sound manipulations, balancing improvisation with the channeling of sonic energies. Havan is also meant as a mainly collaborative endeavour and so for this first recording Frederic was joined by Harlow MacFarlane (FUNERARY CALL) and Sarah Rosalina Brady (AMBER ASYLUM). The album was recorded during a live ritual in November 2012 using Analog Synths, Guitar, Gongs, Bells, Voice and Electric Violin and the result is a stirring elemental foray into the transforming powers of sound and ritual.

Heldentod - The Ghost Machine ( Cold Spring: CSR131CD)
Re-stock. Heldentod began in 2005 as an outlet for research into the little-known corners of 20th-Century history. While previous recordings whiplashed between the traditional and the experimental, Heldentod's latest album leaves behind its neofolk and martial-industrial roots to focus solely on electronics, but maintains the fundamental sense of composition found in earlier incarnations. Although now primarily influenced by death industrial and power electronics, Heldentod looks to create the most suitable expression of its key themes, including ghosts, ancestor worship, human sacrifice, neolithic fertility rights, Iron Age religion, mediæval literature, unseen dimensions, inhuman intelligences, and all manner of Forteana.. $12.00

Herbst9 - Buried Under Time and Sand ( LOKI: LOKI39)
Originally released in 2005 this album marked the beginning of Herbst9's Babylonian cycle which was later continued with "The Gods Are Small Birds..." CD and the most recent "Ušumgal Kalamma" double CD. Here's the original write up: with their third full-length recording Herbst9 set another milestone in the field of serious ritual ambient music. The tracks on "Buried Under Time and Sand" consist of multi- layered kinetic, luminous tones and ephemeral nuances . Deep walls of atmospheric ambience full of ritual sounds, spanning the darkest corners of the globe for inspiration
ranging from hidden catacombs, to steamy jungles, to ancient burial sites and forgotten cultures, This is constantly in motion, full of devouring, mystical atmospheres that reach to the farthest heights, before descending downwards in a deep, crushing sweep. At once, beautiful, yet so purely dark and ambient that its mark will be left long after you stop listening. Once again, Herbst9 set the bar incredibly high. In cardboard sleeve for the re-issue.. $13.77

Herbst9 - The Gods Are Small Birds, But I Am The Falcon ( LOKI: LOKI48)
The soundtracks projected by Herbst9 open a transcendental space, leading the listener to the depths of the unconsciousness. Archaic sounds of an earthly timbre are combined with subtle-sweeping melodies and chorals while strong percussive rhythms and drummings built up a shamanic atmosphere. The natural sound stands with Herbst9 and the ritual motives developing visionary sequences. The all new album of Herbst9 is a step further into the depths of the Assyrian and Asian mythologies, using authentic audio and visual fragments of sacrifices, lamentations, prayers and ancient rituals. The result is a deep labyrinth of sounds with meditative percussions, ghostly vocal fragments and singings which melts with detailed and multi-layered tones of various traditional instruments. All this is constructed around a core of dark and ongoing floating drones creating an atmosphere of true archaic music which has been developed by Herbst9 to perfection. This soundtrack is the secrecy from the deep and hidden places of the sacred earth transcending us beyond the real world to the inner realm of ourselves.. $13.77

H.E.R.R. - XII Caesars ( Cold Spring: CSR117)
H.E.R.R.'s 4th album was originally inspired by the book "De Vita Caesarum" by Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus from 121 AD, during the reign of the emperor Hadrian. It is one of the greatest sources of much of what we know about the first twelve Caesars after the fall of the Republic. "Although we felt small when looking up to such giants, we took up this book and started on this odyssey that was to end in the first tragi-comic Neoclassical operetta about The Twelve Caesars". Let the light of heart rule in this more "song-based" album. Comes with an elegant 16-page booklet. $6.00

Hybryds - Mythical Music for the 21st Century ( Zoharum: Zohar041-2)
This is the second volume in the ongoing series of Hybryds reissues on Zoharum and it coincides with the 30th anniversary of artistic work of Sandy Nys and company. "Mythical Music from the 21st Century", the first full Hybryds release, collects tracks recorded between 1983-1986 scattered on various compilations. Yet they form the first representation of their venture into the world of sonic rituals and magic. This new CD release contains extras: the unreleased live version of "Sacred Voices," performed live on Radio Centraal and an unreleased mix of "Octahedron" by the Alpha Project. Hyios - Consuetudines ( Malignant: TumorCD40)
The alluring debut from Leipzig Germanys Hyios, Consuetudines offers 7 lengthy compositions of cold ritual drones, arching trajectories, and visceral descents into subterranean caverns, where rich, kinetic textures and deep resonant tones move and morph in a fluid, serpentine fashion, sprinkled with the debris of an ancient culture and something more otherworldly and primordial. Leipzig has historically proven to be fertile ground for dark ambient and Consuetudines continues in the fine tradition set forth by such notable acts as Inade and Herbst9. Hypsiphrone - And The Void Shall Pierce Their Eyes ( Black Plagve: Infect09)
Debut album from this one man project from Greece, and a new entry into the Black Plague roster, fitting right in with label mate’s Sewer Goddess in its ability to create innately evil and impure sounds, integrating elements of doom metal, black metal, and dark experimentalism into the pure industrial horror that constitutes the majority of this release. The result is nothing short of absolute and abject dread; 8 tracks spanning an hour worth of material…an auditory overload that’s completely immersive, and at times overwhelming , where heaving masses of percussive doom collide with shuddering machinery dirge, ghoulish and nightmarish ambience, torturous screams, and cinematic depravity, the sounds layered into a tangled and abstract tapestry of something completely epic and nearly majestic in its scale. Fans of Gnaw Their Tongues, Abruptum, and “Necrose Evangelicum” era BDN will do well to wallow in the oozing blackness and unbridled malevolence Hypsiphrone has created. Lmtd 500 copies, in 6 panel digipak.. $9.00
