Hadewych - Welving CD (Malignant: TumorCD115)
Though the project of Dutchman Peter Johan Nÿland, contributions from members of Trepaneringsritualen, Dead Neanderthals, Turia and veteran experimental vocalist Greetje Bijma, help Hadewych to function more as a collective as it amorphously shapeshifts and navigates through a broad swath of styles. And yet, Welving is so finely honed and skillfully crafted, that it works as a singular, whole, never losing a firm grasp on what remains at the core of its unique and dynamic sound. Still, it is nearly impossible to classify or define, utilizing a broad array of instrumentation, working in the monolithic, organic and the acoustic, and filtering it through a complex network of darkened, post-industrial, post-black, ritual hallucinations, and noir-ish Bohren And Der Club Of Gore deathjazz, with a steady stream of insistent bass, percussion, and spoken narrative to propel many of the tracks forward. Hadewych defines their music as black rituals channeling the ultra-grotesque, which is about an apt description as you're going to find, and yet it's that vagueness and ambiguity that manages to sum them up perfectly. One of the most unique and exceptional releases under the Malignant banner, and highly recommended for those unafraid to venture into realms unknown.
"Heavy with dark mysticism and creative bravery, Welving constructs an intricate web of industrial, dark jazz, black metal, and more besides – as if Coil, Bohren And Der Club Of Gore, and 666 International-era Dodheimsgard wrote a record together. Welving is one of the most captivating, refreshingly unique records I have encountered in some time; and also one of the most rewarding. This is the kind of record that, if you let it, could take over your life....Though it is early days, Welving feels like one of the best records that will be released this year – it’s certainly one of the most adventurous and creatively daring". The Sound Not the Word. $10.67

Hall of Mirrors - Altered Nights 2CD (Malignant: TumorCD54)
3rd CD from the acclaimed dark ambient collaboration between Andrea Marutti ( Amon, Never Known, among others) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh).
Spread out over two CDs and totaling over 100 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb here; organic, textural ambience that’s murky and abstract, uncurling like tendrils of smoke before coalescing into a simulacrum of shadowy figures, to turbulent, more immersive post industrial sounds that prowl the depths of subterranean caverns and forgotten, still radioactive ruins. At its core, this is dark ambient, but with its roughly edged, mildly corrosive machine edges and cascading factory whir, Hall of Mirrors moves into a much more active and cerebral sonic realm. Features contributions from Vestigial , New Risen Throne, and Pietro Riparbelli/ K11, among others. 2 discs in 6 panel eco-wallet, with 4 tracks on one disc, and one 45 minute track on the second. A must for fans of Troum, Terra Sancta, early Zoviet France, and of course all related Andrea Marutti projects.. $10.00

Halo Manash - Am Kha Astrie (Aural Hypnox: AH10)
Am Kha Astrie", a work of heliotropic, elemental ambient, is an opening, an awakening, a summoning, a crossing of thresholds. After their previous oneiric and minimal album, "Am Kha Astrie" sees Halo Manash re-integrate a more diverse instrumentation and a multiplicity of soundsources to create their work, which consists of seven interrelated tracks. Archaic elemental drums, bones and spiraling animal horns merge with various metal percussions, chimes, wind-instruments, voices and a multitude of other instruments to create a deep, earthly and yet celestially-bound opus. "Am Kha Astrie" is a massive and sometimes ominous work, a primal experience of coming-into-being, with all the terror, ecstasy and divine awe that it implies. Hand finished cruciform folder. Ltd x 1000. On a more editorial note, this is off the charts good!!! A real must.. $13.77

Havenaire - Rabot CD (Glacial Movements: GM031)
Havenaire is John Roger Olsson, a composer, musician and producer based in Stockholm. After many years performing as the melancholic pop act The Grand Opening, John Roger launched his new ambient electronic alias Havenaire early 2016. The debut album ’Tremolo’ was released on the US label Constellation Tatsu. Previously a guitarist and drummer by trade, now analog synthesizers dominates his sound. John Roger has always been interested in the process of making music and his sense for details is highly noticeable throughout the sound image.
Inspired by old photos taken 1910 by Fredrik Enquist (1885-1963), a Swedish geographer, the theme of his new album Rabot for the Italian label Glacial Movements came to form. Layer upon layer building up walls of sound pushing its way slowly through out the albums six songs. He treats his ambience with a pop sensibility, massive sound that sometimes climaxes in chorus-like parts, with distant piano notes echoing in the background. While other times the music falls apart and only leaves traces of its previous monumental washing sounds.. $13.99

Heldentod - The Ghost Machine (Cold Spring: CSR131CD)
Re-stock. Heldentod began in 2005 as an outlet for research into the little-known corners of 20th-Century history. While previous recordings whiplashed between the traditional and the experimental, Heldentod's latest album leaves behind its neofolk and martial-industrial roots to focus solely on electronics, but maintains the fundamental sense of composition found in earlier incarnations. Although now primarily influenced by death industrial and power electronics, Heldentod looks to create the most suitable expression of its key themes, including ghosts, ancestor worship, human sacrifice, neolithic fertility rights, Iron Age religion, mediæval literature, unseen dimensions, inhuman intelligences, and all manner of Forteana.. $12.00

An awe-inspiring follow-up to their debut that’s completely engrossing from start to finish. In cardboard sleeve for the re-issue.. $9.99

Herbst9 - Usumgal Kalamma 2CD (LOKI: LOKi56)
SALE! What began with the previous releases, "Buried Under Time and Sand" and "The Gods Are Small Birds..." comes now to the final chapter and climax, with an epic double album, Usumgal Kalamma: "The written word that has come down to us through the discovery of the ancient civilizations of Sumer and Akkad and the deciphering of their languages and writing systems speaks of flourishing city-states, their holy places, their great rulers, their deeds in peace and war, their gods and demons, their rituals, their tales of creation and much more." Usumgal Kalamma is a huge and rich soundwork, divided into two parts that transport the listener into the realms of the archaic world. It is an invitation to explore a mythic age in history whereby the inventions of these people are still connected with us today. Intense ritualistic and percussive drumming melt with deep atmospheric drones, invocations, otherwordly tones and various acoustic instruments such as gongs, bells and zither. This sonic prayer is Herbst9´s trademark of a ritual infused dark ambient style and an essential document that combines historical background with sound art. Comes in a box with a 32-pages booklet. $12.99

Hirsute Pursuit - Revel In Your Ability to Accessorize My Pleasure (Old Europa Café: OECD179)
Before "Tighten that Muscle Ring" there was "That Hole Belongs to Me", before that there was "Revel In Your Ability to Accesssorize My Pleasure". This is the seed that started it all.Not fully realized and in its’ embryonic stages, Hirsute Pursuit was developing its’ signature testosterone sound.Hirsute Pursuit is Harley Phoenix and Bryin Dall. On these early recordings, Harley participated in a much different way, rather than doing the lead vocals, Harley controlled the sexual situations. From a Skype call to enjoying a porno film with an obedient participant. But don’t think that you won’t hear Harley giving his orders. No, he is still present and in some of these earlier tracks, those orders are given in a dark atmosphere that excludes the possibility of beats. Creating an environment that is both scary and titillating. On other tracks, it’s all about the beat. Like a voyeur peeking into a window, here is your chance to experience the inside story and development of the phenomenon that is known as Hirsute Pursuit.. $6.00

Human Larvae - Behind Blinding Light CD (Malignant: TumorCD100)
CD re-issue of Human’s Larvae’s Behind Blinding Light LP published on Freak Animal earlier in 2016. "Born from the ashes of Broken Diode, Germany's Human Larvae first made an appearance with the “Home is Where the Hurt Is” full length on Existence Establishment in 2008. A series of tapes and comp appearances followed, as well as the second full length, 2013’s Womb Worship. Early works were already strong and skillfully arranged, but each release showed a progression and maturation in sound, culminating in the brilliance that is Behind Blinding Light. Human Larvae’s ability to incorporate and balance more aggressive passages of junk metal clangor, swarming distortion, and ferocious vocals with hopelessly bleak and gloomy atmospheres immediately sets them apart from anything else in the scene today, though reference points can be made to Gnawed, IRM, Grunt, and Theologian. On a whole, Behind Blinding Light stands on its own as a recording of great depth and compositional expertise, and can be regarded as a benchmark recording of pure and true industrial music. Artwork remains essentially the same as the LP, configured to an 8 panel digipak.. $10.67

Human Larvae - Womb Worship (L-White: LW073)
New release from what has to be one of the most underrated and under-appreciated p.e. acts out there. It's been a whopping 5 years since the last Human Larvae full length disc, and I was way psyched to see it show up at the po box. If you're unfamiliar with Human Larvae, Daniel creates some pretty epic soundscapes - multi-layered, doom laden and apocalyptic heavy electronics that capture some of the same intensity and complexity as Navicon Torture Technologies, but also has an aggression normally seen coming out of Finland (Grunt, Strom.ec). There's dark and emotive stuff here too though - resonant and throbbing, and constantly on the verge on escalation. Collectively, it all works perfectly, making for a complete and utterly satisfying listen.. $13.99

Husere Grav - You Are Transparent (Crucial Blast: Blaze008)
The mysterious Husere Grav arose from the ashes of black metal duo Homunculus in 2006, and over the past eight years has released some spectacular pieces of dread-filled industrial blackness. Following the 2012 CD Ten Graves, as well as splits with Meditations, TRTRKMMR and Robedoor, their latest full-length offering comes via the Crucial Blaze imprint. The macabre ambience and ghostly black drift of You Are Transparent recalls the charnel perfume of early-’90s black metal, the desolate early industrial sounds of the Broken Flag label and the subterranean reverberations that Lustmord pioneered on albums like Heresy and The Monstrous Soul.
These seven crushing, crepuscular dronescapes are littered with bursts of creepy metallic whirr, pipe organ and ghastly reverb that rise above a sea of churning, distorted low-end rumble. Ritualistic percussion and blasts of distorted synth drift in slow motion through the sulfurous opener “Red Room,” adding to the album’s already hallucinatory atmosphere. This surreal, creepy vibe runs through the whole disc, as “Terrors” erupts into a raging delirium of angelic screams and black winds, the swirling, dreamlike din drenched in endless reverb. “Lines” drops a minimal, menacing rhythmic throb into the middle of whirling drones and jet-roar distortion.
As the listener drifts further out across the abyss, the sound mutates, transforming into a vast, ethereal roar, hypnotic and speaker-rattling, before erupting into walls of incandescent, distorted synth. These immense, ominous dronescapes and waves of hypnotic rumble are bathed in a carcinogenic glow that stretches all the way into the closing mechanical pulse of “No Dreams,” ending the album like some strange combination of Tim Hecker’s granular, ambient soundscapes and the monotonous, blackened rumble of old-school Italian industrial artists like Maurizio Bianchi and Mauthausen Orchestra. This is true dream-music for the end times.
Released as part of Crucial Blast’s Crucial Blaze series, You Are Transparent comes in a clear DVD-style case with a sixteen-page art zine, sealed with a printed obi band.. $10.00

Hybryds - Only Darkness CD (Sleepless: SRB029)
Belgian art / music project born in the underground of the 80 ties in previous century, Hybryds has always been a project of worldwide located people working together, ( by mail) directed by mastermind Magthea.
Hybryds were one of the first bands to explore the tribal, atavistic feeling of losing your mind in the sound of music. By mixing contemporary electronic techniques with ancient tribal influences they created a new eclectic music style, crossing the borders of ethnic and industrial music: Ritual music. The last 3 CDs ( on Sleepless) were born out of live jam sessions between Magthea, Peter De Koning, Madeline Arndt and even Barry Edgar Pilcher ( who came of his island after 25 years to join Hybryds in person.)
Going back to their roots: ritual music. Trance inducing ambient atmospheres, from Barry's manipulated saxophone are sucked up in tribal rhythms, electronic beats, colouredwith the intense percussion of TraumaSutra, blend in the evocative and impressing vocals of Madeline Arndt. When you close your eyes, and let your heartbeat synchronise with the pulsating rhythms from ancient lost times and free your mind on the magical sound waves, you can tune in with the great Universe of Life. Darkness will eat parts of your soul and show you the light.. $14.67

Hybryds - Ritual of the Rave 2CD (Zoharum: Zohar151-2)
For the past several years Zoharum has been reissung the subsequent albums of the Belgian independent scene legend, Hybryds; so far five has been released. "The Ritual of the Rave" is the sixth installment in this series and is an expanded version of the 1995 album. It has not lost its freshness in those years. It is electronica with strong ambient and ethnic music influences locked in six long, slowly developing compositions. Here there are rhythmic elements directly taken from techno (which announced further changes in the Belgian project's repertoire.) "Icarus" or "Sjamanistic Dream" are still classics in the Hybryds catalogue.
This is also one of the expanded editions of their classic albums. The second disc shows what Hybryds was like at concerts during the period when the recordings were made (live tracks compose the first five tracks recorded in 1995). In addition, we have three studio compositions here here. The first one belongs to the collaborative Hydra project, whose only official recording appeared on the compilation "The Uncertain Future" on Antler. The other two are the early recordings from 1988 by Magthea with Mark Burghgreave of Klinik. One of them, "Octahedron", appeared on the absolutely first single of the project.
The album has been digitally remastered from the original master tapes by none else but Sandy Nys, who also provided the cover based on the previous editions. The CDs are housed in a digipak sleeve and the album is strictly limited to 500 copies.. $14.67

Hyios - Consuetudines (Malignant: TumorCD40)
The alluring debut from Leipzig Germany’s Hyios, Consuetudines offers 7 lengthy compositions of cold ritual drones, arching trajectories, and visceral descents into subterranean caverns, where rich, kinetic textures and deep resonant tones move and morph in a fluid, serpentine fashion, sprinkled with the debris of an ancient culture and something more otherworldly and primordial. Leipzig has historically proven to be fertile ground for dark ambient and Consuetudines continues in the fine tradition set forth by such notable acts as Inade and Herbst9. In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Secret Lab. A great new discovery.. $7.00

Hypsiphrone - And The Void Shall Pierce Their Eyes (Black Plagve: Infect09)
Debut album from this one man project from Greece, and a new entry into the Black Plague roster, fitting right in with label mate’s Sewer Goddess in its ability to create innately evil and impure sounds, integrating elements of doom metal, black metal, and dark experimentalism into the pure industrial horror that constitutes the majority of this release.
The result is nothing short of absolute and abject dread; 8 tracks spanning an hour worth of material…an auditory overload that’s completely immersive, and at times overwhelming , where heaving masses of percussive doom collide with shuddering machinery dirge, ghoulish and nightmarish ambience, torturous screams, and cinematic depravity, the sounds layered into a tangled and abstract tapestry of something completely epic and nearly majestic in its scale.
Fans of Gnaw Their Tongues, Abruptum, and “Necrose Evangelicum” era BDN will do well to wallow in the oozing blackness and unbridled malevolence Hypsiphrone has created. Lmtd 500 copies, in 6 panel digipak.. $6.00
