Caithness - Apostasy & The Sorrowful Child ( Kaosthetik: KSTK007)
4th release from Caithness, but the first I've encountered, which make it rather surprising given the quality of the work. Very reminscent of early Raison d'Etre - introspective ambient soundscapes with sorrowful melodies, monastic chants, acoustic enrichments, and haunted atmospheres, all drenched in the requisite reverb. To discover.. $6.00

Carsten Vollmer - Arbeit Nummer 19 CDr ( L-White: LW067)
Dr. Nikolaj Moebius was a psychiatrist. and scientist who conducted a lot of experiments with extreme acoustic frequencies to heal mental disabled humans!
For Arbeit Nummer 19, Carsten Vollmer rebuilt such a machine and created sounds from that - pure, harsh noise with sheering, feedback, squelch, walls of ragged and destructive churn. This one fucking hurts.. $5.00

Caul - The Hidden ( Eibon: Cau30)
A welcome return to Crucible era Caul...one 60 minute piece of immensely haunting atmospheres. Very little, if any, structural elements, just slowly evolving soundscapes full of suspenseful tones, cinematic textures, and bleak ambience. Elements of melancholy beauty arise, but are quickly swallowed by uprisings of darkness. A must for fans of Raison d'Etre, Graeme Revell, and of course, early Caul.. $11.00

Caul - The Long Dust ( Malignant: TumorCD62)
The Long Dust signifies the first full length Caul recording for Malignant since 1998's "Light From Many Lamps' CD, and while, stylistically, Brett's sound has evolved, there's no question it has also matured, moving further away from the climatic drift of the early works, into more structured, composed realms, adding layers of noir-ish percussion and gentle guitar melodies to the arching tones and cinematic textures that define the Caul sound. This is music that speaks of grey skies and introspection...solemn, yet abounding with serene beauty.. $10.00

Caulbearer - Haunts CDr ( Peacock Window Recordings: PW01)
Debut release for this New Mexico/Texas based act brings forth some rather turbulent drones built upon manipulated guitar and field recordings. The sound here varies from ethereal and hypnotic to maxed out, full blown churn and pulsating swell, the tones and textures expanding outwards in a blossom of darkly hued colors and patterns. If you're looking to drift off peacefully, this may lure you in, but then wakes you up with a jarring kick to the ribs as the hive-like noise levels get ratcheted up a notch or two. My reference points are definitely Maeror Tri and Troum, but also IOS's dronier parts, and as the label says, Yellow Swans and Tim Hecker (whom I know in name only, but I'll take their word for it).. $10.66

Cloama - Revisionist Knowledge ( Freak Animal: FreakCD028)
Return of the more cruel and vicious side of Cloama, the side project of Strom.ec. Two sides represented here…the first 4 tracks are live-without-audience recordings recorded with amplifiers and couple of good microphones. Painful and straight forward power electronics with vocals in line with what you've come to expect from Strom.ec, though maybe even harsher and more raw. 2nd part of disc is studio recordings …a solid, swarming mass of rough edged atmospheres, drones, and shuddering frequencies. Lots of layers here and overall, a very unique sound. Very stylish designed artwork in cardboardbox cover with 4 insertcard full of nice graphics and texts. Freak Animal. $12.00

Collapsar - Beyond the Event Horizon ( Malignant: TumorCD38)
Malignant presents another rising star within the dark ambient scene, this time in the form of French act Collapsar. With their debut CD, “Beyond The Event Horizon” Collapsar transports the listener on an epic journey deep into the cosmos, forging a path across a vast, inky void, and steering a course around a roiling galactic core of hyper-dense stars and black holes. The sound is epic, expansive, and most of all, HEAVY. There is beauty and tranquility within these realms, but there is no light – just massive, pulsating textures coalescing into shimmering drones, rippling sound waves, and billowing, multi-dimensional layers of powerful dark energy. “Beyond the Event Horizon” is without question, dark ambient in its purest form and one of the more genre defining releases of the last several years. A must for fans of Inade, Lustmord and the like. In 6 panel digipak, with design by ::: Eye.Lyft :::. $9.00

Combative Alignment - ...and Outside Glows the Red Dawn ( Malignant: TumorCD24)
Those that peruse the Malignant catalog on a regular basis, should have no trouble recognizing Combative Alignment, for they’ve been a highly touted fixture since their first release, the Everlasting Sun 10” on their own label, Avatar. After several releases, including an LP on LOKI, and a 7” on Eternal Soul, it is with great honor and pride that we present ’And Outside Glows the Red Dawn’, the first full length CD from this powerful and visionary German project. And Outside Glows the Red Dawn can perhaps be seen as Combative Alignment’s benchmark recording, offering 6 tracks that work as a virtual musical thoroughfare to a more dreamlike, illusory state. Deeply brooding atmospheres, where omniscient layers of drones and reverberating sound currents meet measured, ritual percussion as performed under the glowing, gloomy haze of a primordial sunrise. And Outside Glows the Red Dawn shines a dim light on a world of obscure origin, full of dark Germanic mysticism and unearthly sonic terrain. On a whole, this is a more focused, deeper, and fluid recording than you’ve heard before, yet triumphantly carrying on the tradition laid down by previous releases. In stylish digipak, lmtd 1000 copies. $8.00

Atmospheric by Con-Dom standards, but still fucking’ hard as always -…coarse, raw, and tension filled heavy electronics, based on loops and and super intense, burrowing frequencies. Absolutely devastating at high volume. Goddamn, I wish Mike would release stuff more often...this is just a teaser. Features Anti-Child League. Presented in a glass clip frame and is limited to just 350 copies!. $8.00

Con-Dom/Militia - Scorched Earth Policy CD ( Old Europa Café: OECD047)
A nice move on the part of Old Europa Café to re-issue this long out of print cassette from many years ago. Now completely re-mastered by Frank Gorissen of Militia, this comes roaring from the speakers in all it’s glory. Six tracks of full throttle brutality from Con-Dom to start things up, unleashing the typical fury associated with his work; rough discordant noise, squelching feedback, and writhing heavy electronics with processed vocals. Includes the Euro smash Power is Nothing Without Control, plus Utterly Devoid of Faith, All is Fair in Love and War, Buchers Call to Arms and more. The Militia material is representative of earlier work, as found on the New European Order 3 LP…less percussion based (though still prevalent)_ and more atmospheric, pulsating with the raw machine energy they’re known for. Industrial music the way it was meant to be. Includes 2 live, previously unreleased tracks from their very first gig.. $13.99

Contagious Orgasm - Thin Skinned ( Industrial Recollections: IR-CO3)
I didn't have the original of this tape from 1989, but it's definitely fascinating to hear how CO evolved into what it is today. In general, like the other two recent CD re-issues, this is a dirtier, true industrial sound - still built around loops and collages, but not at all polished, with lots of whirrings, clangs, experimental sounds, and junk metal noises. 2 long tracks, in total c. 45 minutes. Those who heard the previous two tapes re-issued, can´t go wrong with this one!. $14.33

Control - Deadly Sins ( Malignant: TumorCD48)
11 years after making his debut on Malignant side label, Black Plague, the legendary Control returns home to roost, with another pulverizing display of power. 7 tracks, thematically centered around the 7 deadly sins (with each track clocking in at the 7 minute), originally released as lmtd CDr for the Elektroanschlag 11 festival. There is no atonement here, nor redemption offered. Just cold, jarring currents of massively built power electronics and horror filled death industrial, full of clamoring factory debris, razor sharp sheets of sonic violence, and grisly metallic grind, rounded out with Garrison's trademark vocal devastation. Control - Misanthrope ( L-White: LW014)
3rd Control CD that continues to see a positive evolution in sound. Strong, shuddering currents of thick electronics, with a crushing underbelly of boiling, frying, layered frequencies, the vocals streaming forth in a sickeningly wet fashion. Much more structure going on here than the past, but twice the unbridled power. Excellent.. $13.33

Control - The Means to an End ( Eibon: Con055)
Another solid effort from Control, offering up 9 tracks of scorching, multi-layered, ultra gritty power electronics. Lots of grinding machine noises amidst the thick, hulking frequencies, all equipped with that textbook sinister edge that dominates the Control sound. As always, tortured vocals rip through the mix. I know I say this with every Control CD, but he really does seem to get better with each release.. $12.00

Control - The Resistance ( Ant-Zen: Act270)
Control on Ant-Zen? That, at least on paper, seems out of place, but I guess Thomas has been embraced by the "oontz-oontz" crowd, and that's certainly good for him. But, for the p.e. purists, rest assured, Thomas has not sold out, and there are no beats here. The Resistance is however, his "cleanest" sounding release, but it's also one of his best - surgically precise and razor sharp, with cold currents of dark, atmospheric noise slicing through pulsating loops and swarms of shuddering, machine ambience and nightmarish, cinematic scenarios. Non-processed vocals this time around add texture, but keep the intensity level intact. Recommended, always!. $12.00

Cory Strand - Village of the Damned: A Re-Interpretation 2CDr ( Occult Supremacy: OSP013)
From Cory Strand: "My rework of the soundtrack to John Carpenter's vastly under-appreciated remake of "Village of the Damned" is an exercise in melodic and ridiculously intense wallcraft alongside chillingly banal ambient environments, an attempt to create aurally the emptiness and malice hidden in the blank white eyes of the otherwordly children who lord over the film. Much like the film, these two discs eschew obvious violence in favor of something more malignant, suggestive, and ultimately distressing. The imagination creates its own semblance of horror, its own methods of dealing with the unknown, and its own recesses in which to crawl against the assault of insanity".. $10.00

C.O.T.A. - New Mythologies ( Sonik Sorcery/Tesco: Sonic06)
It's been 10 years since the last C.O.T.A. release, and a whopping 18 years since they first appeared with their acclaimed Terra-ist cassette. At that time, you could lump them together with budding eco-centric tribal/ritual acts such as Life Garden and Voice of Eye, but that as a genre never really developed beyond those few acts and for the most part, ceased to exist for a number of years. Voice of Eye has resurfaced nicely, and now C.O.T.A. follows suit. So, here we have fresh recorded material in the same vein as the first 2 CDs - ritual atavistic music encompassing tribal drumming, more primitive percussion and organic instrumentation, and chanting shaman vocals, with select tracks moving into psychedelic, yet still song structured "folksy pop territory". This release encompasses a carefully crafted blend of material recorded over the last seven years. It takes off where "Ta'wil" and "Marches and Meditations" left off and spirals into a new mix of post-urban audio journeys. This release presents ideas and sounds that attempt to address humankind's struggle to come to terms with the new dichotomies between the local and the global and our shared relationship with nature. it is a reintroduction of an old way of living into the global village, to build a new sustainability and mutual understanding.. $15.77
