Various Artists - Die Geburt des Jahrtausends LP
(Steinklang: SK20)
 |
For some stupid reason, I thought this was new, when in actuality it came out in 2002. I have the thing too, which shows where my memory is now that I'm in my 40's. At any rate, if you missed it the first go around, it's certainly worth taking a look at (and not just because I bought a shitload of them), as this lmtd 500 LP features tracks from Krieger, Legion Condor, Operation Julmon, Sekton B, Leiche Rustikal, and Rasthof Dachau.. $14.99

Various Artists - Hoga Nord
(Segerhuva: Seger26)
 |
Four lengthy tracks from four Swedish experimental groups in tribute to the god-forsaken land we call Sweden - or, Höga Nord if you wish. From BOCKSHOLM's structured and up-building jackhammer mechanics, onward with DUSA's moody downer-beats from the outskirts of hell - further down the road NIELLERADE FALLIBILISTHORSTAR's abstract and ghostly metal junk/cymbal ambient to VÅRTGÅRD's heavy and painful death industrial - this is a record that follows an unknown path, where grey and depressive specimen without contrasts makes a subliminal whole. For sure not the full-on noise Segerhuva perhaps is known to release but a beautiful and deranged journey through our native mushroom woods and what one can find if taking a leak on a small highway side-track somewhere outside of Skara.Edition of 300 copies in printed black and white matte sleeves with insert.. $15.99

Voice of Eye - Substantia Innominata 10inch
(Drone: SUB09)
 |
Back in stock! If you've ever had the chance to visit northern New Mexico, you'll know how spiritual and mystical it is, with expansive mesas, pristine skies, and beautiful landscapes. It's no wonder Voice of Eye moved there from Houston a few years ago, as their music is perfectly suited to such surroundings. After an extended absence, we're finally presented with new recordings from this legendary duo, who haven't missed a step in creating some of the most gorgeous, absolutely sublime ambient music, period; slow, liquidous tonal drifts and otherworldly drones full of morphing textures and haunting sounds, all composed via strictly organic means (ie, no keyboards...just home made instrumentation, vocals, flutes etc). Over 39 minutes of pure atmospheric bliss. On clear vinyl with golden striae and superb artwork by Thomas Dohmen, lim. 500. Brilliant and recommended.. $14.99
