Panther Modern - Sex Murders CDr
(Scrape Tapes: Scrape015)
 |
Any attempt to pidgeonhole the New Jersey based trio Panther Modern's latest opus and second full length album is futile. "Sex Murders" is a phrase used by Don DeLillo in White Noise to describe mass hysteria during a public event. In the past, Panther Modern has tried to live the hysteria inherent within noise by making a project based around cultural terrorism, Satanism, and free improvisation, i.e., the most important things in life. Sex Murders documents their most successful experiments to date in over 3 years of dedicated debauch. Sex Murders transgresses through blackened noise, power electronics, metal percussion, industrial filth and doom all held together with pyschedelic lulling synthesizers and even harsh noise wall, but all heard through the hypnagogic vortex. Live the dream until your life becomes a nightmare from which you cannot awaken.Limited to a hand numbered edition of 100 copies. Labeled disc comes packaged in a black glossy card sleeve with pro-printed front and back covers, sealed in a plastic wallet.. $10.66

Panzar - Pratotypon
(Old Europa Café: OECD078)
Pratotypon is the final statement for Panzar, the OTHER harsh side project of Peter Andersson (Raison DEtre), though not AS harsh as Stratvm Terror, nor as complex.. Features 5 live tracks, early, unreleased prototypes, and a Panzar re-mix of Folkstorms Victory or Death track! Minimalistic to start, but slowly builds, getting more agitated as it goes, with gritty frequency drones, throbbing pulsations, and scourging industrial clangor.. $14.99
Paranoia Inducta - Pia Fraus
(Beast of Prey: BOP5.8)
 |
Pia Fraus is second part of the Lux Mundi trilogy. This trilogy is a tribute to all those who died, were killed, deceived, humiliated and oppressed by the Catholic Church . It's a tribute to all those victims who instead of love and hope were given torment and death. I can basically justcut and past the description from Gloria Laus as it applies here as well, so here you go: " bleak dark ambient, swelling, echoed drones, ritual voices, and plenty of those haunted factory scurryings and clangs that I just can't resist. Features input from eLL (SUI GENERIS UMBRA) and Robert Marciniak (Rukkanor". The CD is uniquely packaged - red cover with 12-page booklet filled with graphics marching every track. The booklet inside is a specially designed cross-shaped envelope and sealed . Limited edition of 444 pieces.Reminds me of Atrium Carceri to some degree, though certainly not derivative. Impressive output from Poland, yet again!. $12.00

Paranoia Inducta feat. Kenji Siratori - Black Paper
(Beast of Prey: BOP4.7)
 |
Collaborative release from Polish Industrial act Paranoia Inducta and the extremely prolific Japanese 'cyberpunk' Kenji Siratori. Paranoia Inducta are quietly doing really good work, and they incorporate Kenji's vocals very well, surrounding it with bleak, echoed filled dark ambient soundscapes, and incorporating lots of Japanese instruments and sounds. Very haunting and memorable stuff. Released in an A5 foldout sleeve with 3 inserts, featuring Japanese-style graphics.. $13.50

Passione Nera - Research EP
(Cold Meat Industry: CMI185)
 |
The "Research EP" marks the first offering from the ever-growing Roman outfit Passione Nera.Originally conceived by Andy in the dying days of 2005, it would not be until the spring of the following year that the band took its first steps, and embarked on a journey that would eventually see the project evolve into a 4-piece band (by early 2007). Initially, the songs were stripped-down acoustic guitar compositions with the occasional addition of piano, accordion or organ. However, as the band grew and expanded, the songs were redefined and their sound changed.Today, Passione Nera has evolved from a folk-pop creature into a fully-fledged chamber-pop ensemble. The band keeps one watery alcoholic eye fixed on the cinematic tradition, with melodic landscapes that are dusty and melancholy. These melodious scenes are then wrapped up in lush, orchestrated songs with acoustic and electric guitars taking the center stage, and additionally enhanced by a large array of other instruments. It is as if these songs were written on the backs of 1960s postcards brought back from some imaginary journey into Americana, then bred with French-pop, cross-fertilized with baroque-pop, and finally molded into a soundtrack for the broken-hearted, the disenchanted and the misunderstood. The "Research EP" features appearances by Simone "Hellvis" Salvatori (guest vocals on "Sinking"), and Piergiorgio "PJ" Ambrosi (additional arrangements and co-production) of older brothers Spiritual Front, and will be released as digipak CD-single and limited 7" vinyl.. $9.99

PBK & Telepherique - Ambient Noise Connection
(Monochrome Vision: MV22)
 |
Collaborative effort between these two long standing acts. Unclassifiable abstract sound-sculptures on the Russian label, Monochrome Vision. Both artists use samples, synthetic sound sources and sequencing to create an unsettling atmosphere of structured electronic patterns ranging from intense rhythmic work to strange psychedelic "out-of-body" soundscapes. Titles such as "Ecosystem Interrupt", "Sun Continue To Shine" and "Seen Through Cloud Cover" offer a glimpse into a future world of unpredictable ecological impact. Released in a limited edition of 500 copies.. $5.00

Penjaga Insaf - Sama Sadja
(Power & Steel: PAS27)
 |
For several years Ingo Sauerbrey made extensive travels through Indonesia, always carrying recording equipment to collect sounds as an audio diary. During periodic return trips to Germany, he started to work on the recordings with electronic devices. Some sounds were edited, cut and transformed, while others were kept completely intact. To name a few sound sources only recordings from Water Puppet and Shadow Theatres, Gamelan and various welcoming and fighting dances like Kecak, Jegog and the Tarian Caci were used for this album. Some of those impressive performances were made of 60 to 90 men chanting and dancing while a bamboo orchestra used 4 meter long bamboo sticks playing bass drums on it. Sada SAdja is weaving together the sounds of living traditions, religions and languages with spherical ambient pads and electronically edited drones from the field recordings. This is an contemplative and intimate soundtrack from the deepest heart of South East Asia. LOKI/PaS. $14.50

Persona - Ruines
(Marbe Negra: MN04)
 |
After multiple comp appearances and several CDrs (as well as a collaboration with Eldar on their CMI CD), here we have the formal debut of this Spanish male/female duo.Stylistically this is pretty varied - the bane of my existence when I have to write my own review for the catalog. But, it's made easier by the fact that Persona manages to do all styles very well over the course of Ruines 19 (!) tracks. So, what do have here exactly? Really, a bit of everything - pagan style ritual ambient (think early Wolfskin to some degree), gothic twinged neo-classical with soaring strings and angelic vocals, martial orchestrations, and passages of some good old fashioned industrial clangor. Put that all together and you'd think it wouldn't work, and yet it does - as long as you don't get settled into one mood for too long a stretch. In beautifully designed digipak with 20 page booklet.. $7.00

Phaenon - His Master's Voice
(Malignant: TumorCD45)
 |
After the well received debut Submerged, Phaenon follows things up with an even deeper immersion into a world of bleak, isolationist sounds. Whereas Submerged was one long and infinitely expansive drone piece, His Master’s Voice is broken up into four separate, but flowing tracks of sprawling and spacious ambient drift, laced with interstellar disturbances, probing, alien tones and icy shards of celestial debris…a whirling specter of darkness and void-ic space, thematically based upon the 1968 novel of the same name by Stanislaw Lem, which is centered around the efforts by scientists to decode, translate and understand a series of extraterrestrial transmissions. As a whole, His Master’s Voice represents a logical progression in Phaenon’s sound and is the ultimate in headphone listening. In gorgeous 6 panel digipak.. $12.00

Phaenon - Submerged
(Malignant: TumorCD30)
 |
With the debut release from Phaenon, it is immediately evident a heavyweight has arrived. The brainchild of Polish born, but current Maryland resident, Szymon Tankiewicz, Submerged is a dark ambient tour de force. Visually and sonically enveloping, this is an album of space and texture, slowly revealing a psychoactive soundscape of majestic, arcing timbres, circadian buzzes, and expansive drones. Heavy, and cosmically weighty in the beginning, Submerged evolves into something more minimalist and serene, radiating a celestial beauty, yet becoming even more bleak and suffocating as it progresses over it's 66 minute time frame. Experienced from start to finished, theres a palpable sense of drifting and drowning, of being carried away into an endless, interstellar vacuum. An exciting new project, and a must for dark ambient purists. Check out Phaenon's myspace page for excerpts of new works at www.myspace.com/szymontankiewicz. In stylish 6 panel digipak, artwork by K. Enderlein (LOKI), mastered by Thomas Garrison... $12.00

Phase II - Afterglow
(Ahnstern: Ahnstern29)
 |
has been a little over thirty years since the inception and all-too-brief life span of Phase II, the progressive-folk band founded by Mark Andrews (Blue Grass) and Nicholas Tesluk (Changes). Since that time, only the five selections on their self-titled, blue vinyl, extended-play record (and a handful of songs featured in recent anthology appearances) have found an audience outside of the venues where the group performed live during their original three-year tenure. That is about to change! As the piece de resistance of Phase II's artistic career to date, the band's new album Afterglow has arrived, introducing modern listeners to their unique and timeless mixture of varied musical stylings. Included in this expansive release are six songs from their original repertoire - in some cases, songs only rehearsed, but never before performed in any venue - all recorded here for the very first time. As a special reprise, all of the songs from the blue vinyl record (now long out-of-print) have been enhanced and included on the Afterglow album. And to bring things full-circle, Phase II is also proud to present a recording of its first all-new song of the twenty-first century on this compact disc.To round out an already-generous Phase II presentation, the album concludes with "Candle in the Night", their complete pre-progressive, conceptual radio program from 1978 (two songs of which were included on 2004's Tonwerk Flammenzauber 2 CD). The Afterglow package includes an attractive booklet featuring full lyrics, as well as an anecdotal history of the band in text and photos.Whether during their "folk duo" period, or as a full progressive band, the original warmth of the music of Phase II was felt all-too-briefly and by all-too-few. Afterglow is a comprehensive retrospective of their original songs. Now that Nicholas and Mark have reunited in this "Digital Age", may it also provide a launch pad for exciting new works to come.Phase II Afterglow - Thirty-two years in the making ... and not a moment too soon!. $14.66

Phelios - Astral Unity
(Malignant: TumorCD44)
 |
Following two CDs on Eternal Soul and a recent split LP on LOKI, Germany’s revered dark ambient project Phelios makes their first appearance for Malignant. With its swirling cosmic drones and sweeping, cinematic drift, the music of Phelios is breathtaking and hypnotic, often evoking moments of serenity and beauty, yet spiking them with deep cushions of ritualistic percussion and textural squalls that suggest something much more ominous and threatening looms on the vast horizon. Collectively, Astral Unity is thoughtful and concise – a vivid and richly detailed entity that’s alive and constantly evolving, channeling the universe while simultaneously exploring the inner regions of a more primordial earth. In 6 panel digipak, with gold foil stamping.. $12.00

Phragments - Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood
(Malignant: TumorCD37)
 |
Youve seen it before. Certain bands or artists delivering their finest work with their first recording. Then, in futile attempts to capture some of the same magic, becoming formulaic and stale, rehashing ideas and never really achieving the same caliber of work. Others, expanding on the elements of their prior releases, and through a natural maturation process, get stronger with each release. That would certainly be the case with Phragments. With their third full length studio CD, this Slovakian duo have made remarkable strides not only in quality but in scope. Equipped with an enriched sonic palate, Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood mixes forceful brass and dark orchestral strings with rolls of powerful tribal percussion, somber wind instrumentation, ominous atmospheres, industrial clangor, and a strong and commanding vocal presence, particularly on tracks like Over Deadlands and The Kin of Cain. Cohesive, complete, and epic, this is a release that will open some eyes to new found authority of Phragments. Yours to discover. In 6 panel digipak.. $12.00

Phragments - The Burning World
(The Eastern Front: Front010)
 |
Pressed CD in oversized luxury 3-panels folded packing. New powerful and emotional full-length album of Slovakian project Phragments. Seven orchestral industrial compositions heavily accented by dark ambient and martial atmosphere. Majestic orchestrations, industrial machinery and noisy outbursts. Second full-length album of Phragments shows a dramatic vision - a sombre view of a world that is burning.. $12.00

Phragments & Korinth - Mysteries of the Greylands
(Greytone: Grey01)
 |
Always nice to get some new sounds from Phragments, even if it is in collaborative form, which in this case, is with fellow Slovakian, Korinth, whose Sign of Eternal Return CD we heaped praises on several years ago. A pretty natural blending of styles here - the flowing orchestral drones of Korinth seemlessly merging with the more cinematic and ominous stylings of Phragments. It is more graceful and not as bombastic as I was thinking it might be, but still, beautifully executed and well conceived.. $13.66

Pietro Riparbelli K11 - Radiodrama|Collapse CD+ Soundpackage
(Radical Matters: RMLE011)
 |
A special concept album utilizing incredible and original radio signals as source materials as recorded in different parts of the world by: Bad Sector, Strange Attractor, Clausthome, Galerie Schallschutz, Simm-el, and others. Recomposed by Pietro Riparbelli, focusing on the esoteric side of electromagnetic activities (ITC, EVP, and trans-dimensional phenomena) all around us. Here's what Pietro has to say about his own work: Im dedicating to sound study related to the environment, with particular reference to concrete music, to phenomenology of perception and invisible phenomena. Currently Im dedicating to the world of radio transmission and communication using only sound sources from short wave radio receivers and other types of signals. PT-R and K 11 are two parallel projects. PT-R is a project that deals with the way to create sound landscapes making the use of environmental sounds (field recordings). In this project I use only sounds coming from the world. K 11 is a project that deals with the world of radio signals, the trans-communication and other invisible phenomena, to create a dimension where the only sound sources are signals from shortwave radio receivers. In this project I use only sounds coming from the atmosphere and from invisible places. ". $8.00

Placid - Skull ov a Pussy
(Hands: HandsD039)
New project from the Proyecto Mirage members Alicia H Willen and Francisco Planellas together with new vocalist Helment. Super hard electro stylings with screaming, raspy vocals, crushing distorted rhythms, heavy bass, and a crazy, over the top feel. Has some semblance of structure, but thats usually obliterated under a wall of beats. The last track Der Mussolini is a tribute to early DAF.. $6.00
Post Contemporary Corporation - Gerarchia Ordine Disciplina
(Old Europa Café: OECD081)
The long overdue Post Contemporary Corporation Debut Album, released in a collaboration between 3 Italian labels : Musica Di Un Certo Livello / Misty Circles and Old Europa Cafe. P.C.C are a very unique project in the Italian and the international musical scene : the force of their lyrics, exclusively in Italian and Spanish language, are a war declaration to daily life and the morality of our age. Some lyrics are declaimed in form of modern sermons, full of eversive sexuality and sulphurous satire, with many references to the Italian Futurist movement with sounds ranging from aggressive psychedelic to pop to electronic-dance and experimentation with some touches of post-industrialism. $5.00
Post Scriptvm - Raspad
(Tesco: Tesco066)
3rd full length release from this Brooklyn project, Raspad is Russian for disintegrationzerfall. Dense, thickly-layered industrial ambient music, exploring the abysmal pathology of modernity--illusion of progress, dissolution of memory, abandonment of higher meaning and paralysis of the will. Obsessively bleak and disorienting soundscapes with a coarse, almost unclean (and I mean that positively) vibe and visceral intensity. Post Scriptvm has a great ability to craft a unique sound via analogue and digital means and sounds like no one else Lim. 600.. $15.33

PPF - La Belle France, 1900
(Eibon/Blade: PPF039)
Much better than the last piece of garbage they released a couple of years ago, and much closer in style to the style shown on the vinyl releases (and CDRs for those that have those). Squirming analogue electronics, thick, wet and buzzing with frazzled tension. Minimalistic, but highly effective at high volume, especially when the vocals kick in
driving the intensity level up to another level. Old school shit in effect! In nice packaging. $13.00
Predominance - Dark Stars Unfolding 2CD
(LOKI: LOKI40)
 |
LOKI stalwart Predominance make one final return with this formidable 2CD set featuring one disc of archival material, and one disc of live material. After nearly 10 years of activity and with just three regular albums in this decade, Predominance rose to become one of the main pillars in the wide area of dark ambient music. Gerd's combination of dense, crushingly atmospheric sounds capes, massively heavy cosmic doom, symphonic structures, deep, pulsating rhythms and visionary-majestic vocals made for one of the most unique acts in operation. This double album now marks the final release of Predominance as the project ceased in 2003. Divided into 2 parts the Disc One: Archivum contains selected tracks from the first tape (White Ashes), the first LP (Obliteration), various compilation tracks and unreleased material. Disc Two: Live collects high quality live recordings from the whole period of activity and includes all the outstanding vocal tracks for what Predominance was especially known for.Comes in beautiful double digipack.. $17.99

Procer Veneficus - Convoy Pt 2
(God is Myth: GIM30)
 |
After releasing the stunning "A Summerhaze Array for August Nights" 2 cd boxed set, now comes this new effort from Procer Veneficus. Convoy (Pt. 2) takes off in a slightly different direction in terms of composition and form but make no mistake, this is Procer Veneficus' greatest and most absorbing / thought provoking work to date. Almost an hour of psychedelic, cosmic and highly atmospheric Black Metal delivered like no other... thus the inclusion in the Malignant catalog.. $11.00
|
Procer Veneficus - Ghost Voices
(God is Myth: GIM020)
 |
Highly atmospheric dream-induced fog music played solely on acoustic guitar and wreathed in wet ambience and distant whispers. Composed in solitude by a mountain lake, and completed in the saltiest of back-bay fogs. Emphasis on backwater oceanic lull, as well as sub-aqueous emanations. Very wet, eerie recording. Contains an acoustic cover version of P.S. Nautical by Velvet Cacoon. $11.00
|
Profane Grace - Nocturnal Omniscience
(Indiestate: IST075)
 |
The first new full-length album from this long standing project since 2003. Devotees of PG's unique brand of cryptic and sepulchral gloom, haunting rituals, and somber symphonic incantations will be "happy" to know that not much has changed in that time, except maybe the production values, which have certainly gotten better. The release limited to 500 copies comes in a monochrome black mini LP-like cover with silkscreened elements.. $14.77

Propergol - Program Vengeance
(Malignant: TumorCD21)
 |
Finally, Propergols 5th CD has been born.
with a vengeance. Program Vengeamce continues in the great tradition set forth by previous works, this time offering up 17 tracks totaling 71 minutes of sonic turbulence. Like being in the mind of a schizophrenic moments before the killing spree
the voices growing, the hallucinations building to maniacal levels, the inner chaos too much to bear
until, finally, an eruption. A recording thats full of sensory overload, with the levels pushed to extremes, the noise ultra saturated, the atmospheres menacing and combustible, and the obsessive rhythms full of beautiful distortion and aggression. In the end, a sense of anguish, a feeling of despair
a mind locked away to contemplate its actions. As always, sample heavy, but an integral part of the power that is Propergol, and adding to the sense of madness and pandemonium that permeates this release.. $8.00
|
Propergol - Renegade
(Tesco: Tesco045)
Re-issue. Another brilliant development for Propergol. With this release, Propergol fimrly solidfied their status as one of the...nay, the finest, purveyor dark industrial in operation today. Mammoth percussion outbursts with blasts of heat seaking noise and rusty, razor sharp electronic mayhem. As always, schizophrenic as hell and completely over the top with samples and chaos. Frightfully loud production too, for that extra punch.. $14.66
Propergol - Un Dechainement../Cleanshaven 2CD
(Tesco: Functional15)
A welcome re-issue of the first two Propergol CDRs (both limited 100) from 1996 and 1997, respectively. And while not as polished and developed as recent works , they still pack quite the punch, especially now that theyve been re-mastered; super dense, unhealthy atmospheres, rife with chaos, samples and explosive heavy electronics and powerful noise. Theres some really incredible stuff here. No one does anything like Propergol now, and certainly, there was no one doing anything like it a decade ago. These are real gems, make sure its part of your collection. In sexy 2xCD digi-pak.. $18.50
Proyecto Mirage - Turn It On
(Ant-Zen: Act215)
 |
Proyecto Mirage was founded in 1990 by Alicia H. Willen and Francisco Planellas. They were initially influenced by the classic electro-pop of the early nineties (a sound which is still present in their side project Bubble Gum) but the duo was also attracted to industrial-music projects like S.P.K., Whitehouse and - of course - Esplendor Geométrico. Their first release saw the light of day after nine years, and their creative output since then has evolved into more complexity. The hard-floor oriented aggressiveness was enriched with electronic ingredients of all kinds - ranging from electro and electronic body music to techno, drum'n'bass, or even sounds similar to those of experimental 'bridging artists' like Aphex Wwin and Pan Sonic. Artists who share P.M's's taste for alarming atmospheres, broken melodies and distorted rhythms. 'Turn It On' is the conclusion of more then ten years of progression. Lashing high-speed dance floor blasts ('Cannibal Party'), distorted eighties nostalgia (6 6 5, 9), straight breakbeat excursions ('Welcome to Life'), pounding four-to-the-floor industrial anthems ('Salvation', a collaboration with italian experimental/folk mastermind Spiritual Front), disturbing experimental-core ('Darker Bex') - this album is a perfect amalgamation of all facets of the electronic assault culture - all of which is welded together to form a powerful statement that encompasses severity as well as humorous wickedness - nobody expects the Spanish inquisition! this is what they are, this is where the project is today - take it or leave it.. $5.00

Prurient - Cocaine Death
(Hospital Productions: HOS232)
 |
Dominick Fernow returns to his own Hospital Productions label reissuing and compiling three of his finest cassette releases, throwing a further two unreleased tracks into the bargain. Perhaps as a result of being drawn from multiple sources Cocaine Death feels like a more developed, more fully formed album than most Prurient full-lengths, dabbling with noisy contact mic textures, those trademarked screamed vocals and a surprisingly articulate line in caustic drone tones. Although the customary high frequency feedback howls are absent on this album, you'll find a lot more depth in crumbling decay-scapes like 'Garden Of Tranquility' than you might have heard from tinnitus-inducing prior releases. There's still no shortage of harshness running through Cocaine Death but in 'Eve Of Adam' and 'Historically, Women Use Poison To Kill' there's a more musical (though I use the term loosely) element buried beneath the surface. The latter track in particular is notable for an ominous synthesizer riff that serves as an introduction - repeating a motif over and over until it gets swallowed up under a landslide of rapidly accumulating sonic dirt.. $11.75
|
Prurient/Kevin Drumm - All Are Guests in the House of the Lord
(Hospital Productions: HOS201)
 |
A collaboration between Hospital Productions chief Dominick Pernow (aka Prurient) and noise icon Kevin Drumm, All Are Guest In The House Of The Lord was originally released as a cassette, a most fitting format for such debased, extreme music. 'On This Slab' is pretty stunning, featuring droning synths, what sounds like a recording of a Strauss waltz hammered by distortion and severe filtering - plus there's Pernow's screamed proclamation of the album's title. Next, 'There Died Venus' is awash with dark grey pulsing bleakness, while bells ring out as if you're hearing an unholy call to prayer. 'Though The Apple Is Rotten' is like a recording of stale air, heavy with location sounds and stagnant hiss, all of which serves as a suitable precursor to the ten minute bad vibe fest 'In Long Rows'. Situated at the most misanthropic end of harsh noise music, this thing's a supremely nasty piece of anger mismanagement.. $11.75

Puissance - Back in Control
(Equilibrium: EQM011)
 |
Originally issued via Cold Meat Industry in a 2000 copies limited edition, this rare classic is now finally made available again through Equilibrium Music, re-mastered and enhanced with one bonus track. With the release of their second full-length album, Puissance solidified their status among the leaders (at least at the time) in the Industrial/Militaristic scene, which hereby starts to take on a more Neo-Classical orientation. A cynical tribute to human evolution and how such evolution inevitably seems to dictate the end of the World and mankind's own extinction. The impending man-made apocalypse which Söderlund obsessively narrates is illustrated by epic martial compositions, to which the pace is set by loud marching drums and Industrial percussion. A compelling work of art, that would bring Industrial music to a new climax thanks to the glorious Neo-Classical arrangements that Puissance have developed for the album.. $12.75
|
Puissance - Grace of God
(Equilibrium: EQM017)
 |
Three years after "State Collapse", the cogwheels on the Puissance-warmachine have been fine-tuned and put to work again, in a crushing motion that seems to be as defiant and innovative as ever. Forerunners in blending post-Industrial soundscapes with seemingly Wagnerian inspired classical scores, the Swedish duo's controversial portrayal of human life often tends to raise a mix of conflicting feelings towards them.Musically, "Grace of God" could well be referred to as a re-definition of the currently over-abused Martial-Pop term, yet Puissance's own superior combination of sumptuous Neo-Classical and Industrial elements raises any potential Pop anthem to an entirely distinct level. More melodic and vocal-oriented than before, this latest opus also comes to expose a more rhythmic approach that had been hinted at in previous releases, but which has now morphed into a powerful and relentless driving force in Söderlund and Möller's compositions. Compellingly militant as well as beautifully apocalyptic, "Grace of God" finds Puissance in top form, presenting a fine compendium of all bits and pieces that the band have been flirting with throughout their career and incorporating them in a unique style which will again set new standards, as they have been known to do in previous outputs. "Grace of God" is available in deluxe Digipak edition, containing a data track whose contents can be unlocked only via a custom made player made available at www.puissance.info. $12.75

Puissance - Mother of Disease
(Equilibrium: EQM021)
 |
In the year 1999, while mankind sat unnaware of their fate and wondering if the moon would drift away into the far reaches of space as the XXth century came to an end, Puissance would reappear, clad in shining armour. With the Industrial rust of early days properly polished, the Swedish duo would further explore their talent for graceful arrangements set to Militaristic Neo-Classical music. Following the overtly confrontational offerings of "Let Us Lead" and "Back In Control", Puissance were now set to resurrect the ghosts of Cold War and the obsession with all things thermonuclear that haunted the planet - the Mother of Disease, as they would call it - over that period. Brooding hymns to suicidal heroism, devotional praises to a new god that would finally bring closure to the human race, the screeching of metal twisting and melting - all of this would find its place in Puissance's own beautiful vision of the impending apocalypse, that they so ingeniously depict on "Mother of Disease"."Mother of Disease" is the third full length album produced by Puissance, and also their third re-issue on Equilibrium Music, following the early "Let Us Lead" and "Back In Control" releases, and last year's new album, "Grace of God". Much like it's predecessors on this fine collection, it has been re-mastered and enhanced with one bonus track, presented in a matte-blue deluxe digipak edition.. $11.50
