K100 - The Vault of Apparitions
(Neuropa: NRP25)
 |
The solo project of Kim Sølve (Trine + Kim Design Studio, Swarms, M) turns loose his first collection from the vault. After a decade of introspection, intense work and self-imposed musical seclusion he now presents the first 12 tracks of dark glimmering electronic music. This is distant, transporting music built from ghost frequencies and hoarse sound fields. The building blocks are carved from excursions to industrial ruins and condemned places which resonates with otherness and timelessness, as well as from sounds of personal artifacts and intense personal experiences bordering on rituals. High quality dark ambient that I actually found to be a very nice companion to Wolfskin's Stonegates of Silence CD, which I posted the same day.. $14.33

Kadaver - Automatic Autopsy
(Topheth Prophet: TP018)
The latest from this extreme and disturbing Israeli project. A vortex of scourging, flesh burning electronics, apocalyptic noise, and venomous hate, with a palpable sense of unpleasantness and general malaise. If I had to pick someone within this scene that was either going to commit suicide or go on a mass killing spree, it’s probably this guy.. $12.00
Karjalan Sissit - Fucking Whore Society
(Cyclic Law: 25th Cycle)
 |
At last, Karjalan Sissit return after 4 years of relative silence with their most obscure and harshest work ever. Fucking whore society is an anger and Vodka fueled bombastic opus inspired by the world's psychopathic state. A revolt against the cruel and sickly ways of today’s society and a visceral and personal statement denouncing betrayal. Karjalan Sissit have masterfully expanded their signature sound with dense ambient passages and unsettling vocals all combined with their intensely unique orchestral passages, presenting us their best and most intense work yet. Produced by Peter Bjärgö (Arcana / Sophia)Edition of 2000 copies In A5 gatefold cardboard sleeve.. $12.99

Karjalan Tazavalla - Uhtua CDr
(UFA Muzak: UFA29)
 |
One of a latest batch of releases from the ever mysterious UFA Muzak out of Russia, who always seem to find even more mysterious projects to populate their roster. For this release, KT gives us 5 tracks of some pretty scary stuff - minimalistic and drone based , but very haunting, with reverbed metal distantly clanging over a steady, post-Chernobyl hum. It's not thematically based around that, but it's all I could think of when listening to it. Lmtd 91. $12.44

Karna Project - The Haunted Age of Destruction
(Eternal Pride: EPP11)
 |
Cold post-industrial pulsations, freezing ambient passages, and explosive military rhythms! Musical shapes mimic and hide in secret spheres, their power destroying the illusion of reality, moving the listener out of their boundaries, as is the goal of the True Satanic Art.. $9.00

Kave - Hidden Fields 3 inch CDR
(Scrape Tapes: Scrape003)
 |
From a Harsh noise-freak to an Ambient-bitch, that's what this release has done to me! Lately I have been totally lacking in my Ambient listening, always aiming for the extreme. The last Nadja I heard was the re-release of his "Touched". So after bieng out of this genre for a while I thought this wouldn't be a pleasant listening for me. Well, it wasn't pleasant for sure but it was some good ambient! The mood is really dark and cold, it might even get you scared. It clears up a little bit in the second track but I can't say this is a happy listening. If you're in the mood for this it's really good, awesome texturing, everything fits and no wierd volumechanges or anything to disturb the mood. This thing is packaged in a black pouche and on the cover is a black and white picture of an alien, which when you think of it really fits the mood of the release. Some of the best Ambient I've heard, really impressed!"- Teenage Arsonist webzine. "Spooky and restrained electronics, along the lines of American act Burial Hex, or perhaps like Chemical Bride-era PGR." Paraphilia Magazine. $7.50

Kawabata Makoto - The Tales of the Dream Planet
(Housepig: Hpig015)
 |
mastermind behind Acid Mothers Temple (and a zillion other projects) parked his spaceship long enough to fish this cd out of his beard and give it Housepig, before closing the hatch and rocketing back into the stratosphere. What he brought back from the Dream Planet is two tracks of long, overlapping guitar drones; glacially melodic, meditative and a touch otherworldly. Curl up in your favorite dashiki, let your hair hang down, fire up some incense (or anything else) and let Kawabata spin you a tale! This cd is presented in a dvd-style clear poly case with full-color four-panel jacket, and is limited to 500 copies.. $11.33

Keplers Odd - Strena Seu De Nive Sexangula (A New Year's Gift Of Hexagonal Snow)
(Fractured Spaces: Fract01)
 |
From the darkest and coldest heart of Sweden comes the trio known as Keplers Odd (headed by Daniel Jansson of Deadwood). Seven tracks of noisy, yet subtly ambient guitar-driven sonic attacks, eerily redolent of the icy cold mysterious aurora-wrapped landscapes prevalent throughout Northern Europe, inhabited by creatures and monsters spawned from the myths and legends told around campfires over countless generations. Keplers Odd create textures, ambience and noise. But there is also quiet subtlety, sinister atmospherics and dark occult moods. Digipak. Ltd x 1000.. $4.00

Klammheim - Heimwarts
(Heimatfolk: HF10)
 |
If you’re a Neofolk aficionado familiar with Steinklang’s Pagan Folk collection, or the Austrian club scene, Klammheim should be a name you’ve noticed. And now Klammheim’s debut album is here. Heimwärts is a collection of melancholic, soft-spoken and acoustic folk songs that occasionally reveal Klammheim’s roots in heaver, rockier sounds. All vocals are sung in lead singer Dea’s Styrian (Austrian) dialect, and to augment the band’s line-up of guitars, accordion and percussion are guest musicians such as Thomas Bøjden (Die Weisse Rose) and Benjamin Sperling (Jännerwein). The album is based around the longing for the Heimat, the mythical homeland of German romantics. But you don’t need to be a feather pen-swinging poet to long for the Heimat, it’s enough to think that the snow was whiter, the rain softer, the world more magical, back when you were younger – and to long for the times and places that made you who you are. One song "Wandel zur Ruh" is based on the lyrics of a Styrian Writer, Paula Grogger. The song "Namenlos" (“Nameless”) is based around a cemetery in Vienna which contains the remains of souls who drowned in the river Danube. Klammheim have not run straight off the Neofolk mill that seems to be working overtime these days. They are as indebted to Austropop as Neofolk, as influenced by Wolfgang Ambros as Death in June.. $14.99

Klangstabil - Vertraut CDep
(Ant-Zen: Act246)
 |
This collection includes the original version of KLANGSTABIL's most famous track, "Vertraut", which captured the attention of listeners worldwide right from its first release on a compilation in 2002. In addition to that you will find eight other interpretations, demonstrating the versatility of work that can be extracted from the catchy, familiar motif. Some of the artists who have remixed the track have based their interpretation on intelligent dance music: the breakbeat-framed SOMATIC RESPONSES version, a hybrid of breakcore and IDM by U.S. project ACCESS TO ARASAKA, KEEF BAKER's metric electro background, which turns into post-rock with dense guitars, and ARCHITECT's Daniel Myer gives us dancefloor-capable pounder topped with a plausible new melody line to complement the original theme. Torben Wendt (DIORAMA) turns "Vertraut" into beautiful melodic body music, while SYNAPSCAPE keep the original track structure but replace the instrumentation and beats, turning the theme into a heavy electronic floorburner. KSDJ is Maurizio Blanco himself, adding some newly faceted rhythm patterns and melody lines, making his version a contemporary DJ anthem. The remix section is topped off by L'OMBRE from Canada, with lush ambient electronica at its finest.. $11.66

K. Meitzer - Dark Matters
(Old Europa Café: OECD083)
The enigmatic scientist K. Meizter of Beyond Sensory Experience has left his murky laboratory to release "Dark Matters", a dark puzzle piece to his debut solo album "Travelling Light". I dont have that release, so I cant make a comparison, but this album offers up active, dark atmospheric soundscapes of free flowing, ominous textures melded with subtle and sinister melodies, rhythms and surreal, dreamy/nightmarish experimental electronics.. $14.50
K. Meizter - Tetraphobia
(Old Europa Café: OECD117)
 |
New release from this Beyond Sensory Experience mastermind. 10 distinctive tracks, built on a droney foundation, but surrounded by manipulated sounds, melodies, and pulsations. Without revisiting prior works as refresher, this comes off as darker and more foreboding to me, with a solemn, and hypnotic/drugged feel.. $13.99

Knifeladder - Music/Concrete
(Cold Meat Industry: CMI192)
 |
Knifeladder have been in existence in one form or another since 1998. Their sound is the culmination of years of experimentation and independent development. The resultant sound is a heavily percussive industrial organic hybrid, a new meshing of electronic loops, live bass and percussion and ethnic instrumentation to form a kind of Organic Industrial Music. Two years after the release of 'The Spectacle' (now sold out) Cold Meat Industry are pleased to present the latest work by Knifeladder; 'Music/Concrete'. - a unique mix of hi tec and lo fi sounds, authorititive drums courtesy of the one and only John Murphy, and distorted obscure instruments, Knifeladder have again produced a work of great visceral power. With shuddering machine loops overlaid with frenetic metal percussion, power ambient soundscapes melting into epic defiant anthems, Music/Concrete uses traditional hand played electronics and instrumentation to realise a throroughly contemporary vision of rebirth and decay.Compared to such acts as Test Dept, Coil and Mother Destruction, Knifeladder have outgrown their reference points to create their own niche in the genre obsessed Industrial scene. The personnel include Jonh Murphy, percussionist and electronic pioneer with such acts as SPK, early Current 93 and credible pop act The Associates. Andrew Trail was founder of Autogeddon and performed in the controversial Ministry of Love, who broke up after being banned from performing in every live venue in Sydney. Hunter Barr was a founder member of the infamous Infant Skull Surgery and is a renowned recording engineer for his unconventional yet obsessively perfectionist approach. Knifeladder themselves have performed with such acts as Allerseen, Sieben, Naevus, Coil, Bad Sector and Neither/neither world. With over 100 live actions, they have mastered the live environment like few others.Play loud, play often, and find the joy that only laughing in the face of death can bring.... $14.33

Kommando - Crimefactory
(Umbkollektif: UMB008)
 |
"The crimefactory is buying and selling crime, stop the crime by stop buying and selling it." (Charles Manson) On "Crimefactory" Dan Courtman once more searched through the UMB archives and found unreleased tapes of the pre-Thorofon project KOMMANDO. After a careful selection process, Courtman took the old material, rearranged it and thereby created a haunting piece of raw powerelectronics. A pounding, seldomly straight album. If you already liked "Necroinvasiv" (LW050,2005), you will definiteley love "Crimefactory"!. $13.33

Körperwelten - Avatars of Rape and Rage
(Malignant: TumorCD36)
 |
Having started the process way back in 2002, this collaborative project between Swedish powerhouse Nordvargr and US apocalyptic industrialists Navicon Torture Technoloies finally sees the light (so to speak) in 2008, having been re-worked and re-structured as a perilous 40 minute plunge into a black hole of sound. Waves of grim, doom filled atmospheric sludge crossbred with buzzing black drones, grinding distortion, and a seething underbelly of rhythmic pulsations, ultimately delivering everything you might expect from these two giantsof the industrial scene. In 6 panel digipak, with extreme and controversial, Jonathan Canady (http://art.malsonus.com/) designed artwork sure to be banned if it falls into the wrong hands.. $12.00

Kreuzer - L'Armee Secrete 3inch CDr
(R.O.N.F. Records: RNF054)
 |
5 well-executed tracks which fuse and combine elements of Martial Industrial, Power Electronics, Dark Ambient quite in the way of the old European school. Rhythmic militant percussion, processed voice samples, powerful synth lines. The concept of the album is the French Resistance during the WWII and with track titles such as "Appel Au Peuple", "Les Combatants De La Nuit", "La Libération" Kreuzer draws an apocalyptic atmosphere full of tension. Includes Charles De Gaulle's speeches. 5 tracks / 20 minutes length. I don't remember the full length on The Eastern Front being as strong as these works (it maybe, I just need to revisit), but this is real surprise.. $10.00
|
Kreuzer/Surma - Viltis
(The Eastern Front: Front020)
 |
New split of two young projects - Ukrainian Surma and Israeli Kreuzer. "Viltis", in spite of being composed by two different musicians, sounds as a whole-hearted album... Like the full-length albums of both musicians, here music flows in the martial, industrial and dark ambient music space and nostalgic atmosphere is completed by samples of old records in Lithuanian language. Ltd x 300 hand-numbered copies in a gatefold outsized folder.,. $11.50

Kristoffer Nyströms Orkester - Brakehead
(Malignant: TumorCD25)
 |
Kristoffer Nyströms Orkester (KNO) is a collaborative project between Peter Nyström (Megaptera/Negru Voda) and Kristoffer Oustad (V:28). A true sonic beat down, done in full Scandinavian style, with a battery of iron fisted rhythms hammering down in a thunderous downpour, and the caustic reverberations of the analog doom machine grinding and screeching in a symphony of clangorous and distressed beauty. This is an album that is as majestic as it is bleak, capturing the essence of old school Swedish industrial, but forging a new path towards a dark future. From auralpressure.com: "Brakehead" is a phenomenally majestic piece of dark ambience and noise that will leave you totally awe struck. The visceral raw power of the electronics is a thing of untamed beauty that heralds in a new era by which others must now be judged against." Guts of Darkness called this THE industrial disc of the year! Check out other reviews in the reviews section. A must for fans of Megaptera, Negru Voda, and all things Peter Nystrom. In stylish digipak. $10.00

Krzysztof Stanislawski - End of All Things
(Zoharum: IYHHH01)
 |
First of the new 'IYHHH' series on Zorahum - aimed at showcasing debut albums by remarkable new artists. This is the debut material of Polish composer Krzysztof Stanislawski, an artist inspired by the soundtrack to movies such as "Pi", "Saw" or "Event Horizon", with echoes of Clouser, Zimmer or Goldenthal. As such, this is very cinematic and remarkably polished (especially for a debut); dramatic orchestrations infused with sharp, gleaming industrial soundscapes, rhythmic tempo changes, and flowing textures. Ltd x 444 hand-numbered copies in an outsized ecopak with postcard.. $13.50
